1. DT: The only DT we have that should make the roster in the future is Marcus Thomas. Sam Adams will be a free agent and will not be resigned, Amon Gordon is gone, Antwon Burton needs to show more to stay, Alvin McKinley is undersized for the system.

2. LB: Through 9 game Ian Gold has 2 really good performances, a couple of accetable games and at least 5 poor/abysmal or worse performances. He has problems keeping up with the premier pass catching tight ends and has had too many missed tackles. In my view DJ is a natural fit on the weak side and quite a bit better than Gold. Webster is too slow to play the outside. Jordan Beck has shown some promise early in his career, but is injury prone.
We need to draft at least 1 LB, and with the saturation technique used for DE and CB over the last couple of years we will probably draft at least 2.

3. OT: Lepsis has struggled this year and is smaller than what Shanahan would like. Pears has generaly been solid and should stay with the team for a long time. Harris must show he belongs in the league and I do hope he can. That leaves at least 1 spot for an OT that needs to be filled.

4. S: Foxworth and Abdullah has shown some nice things at S, they bring a lot more speed than Lynch and Ferguson and cover a lot of ground. The stretch run will show if they are the real deal or if reinforcements are needed, at any rate it will probably be the last season with Lynch if he is demoted to backup, so a new S will be needed.

5. FB: I really do think we need to stop using converted running backs. Get a huge lead blocker who can open up the gaps. Tony Richardson will be a free agent in Minnesota, however I do think we can get quality for less, an undrafted free agent or even a 6th or 7th round pick gets you a decent lead blocker.

Other than that I think we are pretty set. We have a lot of solid young players in the organisation despite our very poor drafting. Foxworth, Paymah, Kuper, Myers, Cutler, Scheffler, Marshall, Dumervil, Crowder, Moss, Thomas, Harris, Abdullah, Martinez, Young, Pears. A surprising amount of undrafted free agents in that group.

Defense had a good game against a sorry team (KC) Safeties played well so did DL but I am holding off any judgment until I see few more games with same unit against better offenses.

I believe Shanny will grab OL through FA and pursue Lance Briggs aggressively. Nonetheless here is my list.

Safety - Lynch has 1 more year if he doesn't call it quits this year. Enough time to tutor his replacement.

DT Need that one clogger to play next to Marcus Thomas to protect those LB.
Instrumental and key to stopping the run.

LB OLB most likely. Ian Gold is just too inconsistent and can't play pass coverage and his tackling is a crap shoot. Other LB are playing out of position.

WR/KR Broncos have the worst average starting field position in the league. They need a stud who can also play the slot receiver. Hopefully Stokley stays on 1 more year.

OL I foresee OL through FA but in draft OL will be a backup need. We keep losing OL to injuries and good backups are required to finish season.

OL - To me it all depends on if we think we can move forward with Harris as our starting LT in the future. I think we need to pick up some depth with the interior, if Nalen and Hamilton end up retireing or not being able to play. I am encouraged with the play of our youngsters. We have seen our young guys play up and down. its to be expected but i think they show more promise then not. Fenton is on our practice squad and so is Eslinger (who i am really dissappointed in)

DL - I think we need to double dip at this position one early and one late. We need a future stud on the inside and we need to add some depth. if we go FA at this position we should still atleast take one guy in the middle rounds.

LB - they are up they are down. Do we attack this position in FA or the draft i think we have to replace webster right now but gold might have to wait another year

S - if we can get a LB and a DT in FA i would go with a higher pick at this position. We seen this kid Abdullah in preseason and he looked great. and has come into the season. I am concerned with his religous issue. where he has to fast for a month straight.

WR - Also really depends on how walker turns out. going in for a second Microfracture surgery could spell the end.

We need to resign Brandon Stokely.

I aggre with you on the FB i cried for one last year but we just didnt have the picks to get it. Usually FB go later in the draft and we could definetly take one.

I do honestly believe that DJ is going to stick with the middle so long as he is here the rest the way.

I won't say I AM SURE but I feel that he is playing fairly well, much better than the other two who have been a big dissapointment up to this point. Gold may well be playing his way off the team...

The obvious ones were mentioned...

My biggest needs would be either
Safety or DT... definately Defense... UNLESS Walker proves that he is not going to be the same now and we don't resign Stokely.... IMO wideout is a very high need...If Walker comes back strong then not as big a need... we do need or should have two high quality wideouts. I do however feel we shouldn't draft one first round... none have me completely sold and I don't like first round wideouts that much... It has been proven by FO that while late 1st rounders usually have as much production they bust more....its just the higher 1ster's busts are more noticed.

As I said though, unless we find ourselves looking at a big time wideout who has "can't bust" looks (wont happen) in the draft I hope we stick to best player available.

My list as of right now:

1. Phillips from Miami. If we are picking teens I can't see us looking at a really really good dt there that is worth the money. Phillips is if you ask me.

2. If we are picking 15 or later (which I see... but may be optimistic) I realy dont like the dt choices... but I haven't watched it all closely yet (I usually don't get really into draft until our season is basically over and I am still into it right now plus other college stuff going on for me) so right no my other player I really hope we get IF phillips aint there is Stewart from Oregon if available

my reason?

I for one thought Henry was a mistake. If I ever was to be a GM I would never sign a high mileage back to be my workhorse... NEVER I just wouldnt do it cuz they would never be worth the money you are going to pay and most would agree at least bang for buck Henry has been a dissapointment even ignoring the suspension and reasoning in the OL injuries. Stewart if in a later rounder 1st form would possible give us a bigger back that would be "LT" mold with some pass catching and we could use Young and whoever as a swing back and split carries.

I dunno. Having this forum I am going to need to catch up during season... I usually don't care to find out till I am able to post here about stuff.

So if I am WAY off guys thats my excuse ;)

I'm beginning to think that DT going to be a "position of need"......

I read that ellis is a injury proned player, I agree safty first I might move OT a little early in your list. why not trade JWalker for some draft picks.
