I have been waiting to watch the Virginia Tech -Virginia game to watch for some great looking defensive prospects.
We need LB's and V Tech has two great looking prospects in Xavier Adibi and Vince Hall, which Denver should take a look at.
Chris Long should be the #1 pick this year. Wow  that guy is impressive. Like father like son!
Also I have read a lot about Dan Conner from Penn State, but I haven't seen him play...any thoughts on him???
Ali Highsmith played yesterday and made some nice plays on McFadden even though the defense played like crap. Could be a possible Bronco.
What other linebackers are worth watching who could be future Broncos???

in this years draft for LBs is deep. i like alot of them. Connor, Adibi, Rivers, Goff, Hall, Wheeler but there are two LB that i think would be great in Denver Beau Bell of UNLV and Tavares Gooden of Miami. they play fast and relentless. but with this class being so deep at LB that you can pick up really good looking prospects all the way down the board. i would like to draft one in the first or second all depending whats still avaiable.

Jordan Dizon, University of Colorado. This kid is a beast, and despite a smaller stature, he has shown he can play in a big time conference and play very well.
And, because of his smaller size, he will probably be available in later rounds, leavin our early picks to find a suitable DT for the future.

Xavier Adibi is an ideal prospect to replace Ian Gold. I would love for them to get him in the 2nd, but that might be wishful thinking. He will put up some impressive numbers at the combine. Here are the LBs I like going by round and preference:
1st Round
1. Keith Rivers
2. Dan Connor
2nd Round
1. Xavier Adibi
2. Phillip Wheeler
3. Ali Highsmith
Another possible scenario I like is to trade the 2nd round pick to the Jets for Jonathan Vilma, move D.J. to WILL, and get rid of Gold, either by trade or release. This scenario is contingent on Vilma being ready to play next season.
Of course, we could go for a high-priced FA like Lance Briggs or Karlo Dansby, but there is a major caveat emptor with that approach.

Laurinaitis out of Ohio State would be my first round priority, but he will probably be gone by our pick.
Thanks for the input.

Is Chris Long that good? I NEVER watch Virginia, is he worthy of the No1 pick?
As for future Broncos: DT, OL, LB, DE, RB and S (And maybe WR, cross your fingers, knock on wood). In that order....Of course it all depends on where Denver is and who is still there when they pick......

It was the first time I saw him and WOW... he was very impressive. He didn't have any sacks in thew first half but was very disrupting. He was double teamed all day and sometimes even triple teamed.
One play he bulled through the OT and the FB was holding for dear life for a near sack. The refs missed the call but the commentators caught it.
His two sacks in the second half were great. He blew by the OT on an outside rush and a beautiful stunt up the middle splitting the OG and the Center for a sack and forced fumble. He is very quick, strong, nimble, smart and very impressive. My buddy is a Dolphins fan and he is wondering who they are going to choose #1. After today, I told him Chris Long wil be their pick. With a HOF dad he has good genes and will be a NFL stud.

If Adibi wasn't 24 years old, maybe.

Our most pressing need is to build an offense suited to Jay Cutler. We have one playmaking WR in Javon Walker, and one playmaking TE in Tony Scheffler.
Brandon Stokely is old, and Brandon Marshall will be a decent receiver at best, mainly because of his size. Anyone can run in denver, so we need to Draft people on Offense. Defensive youngins have been stepping up, so we don't need to worry about that.
Although we should concentrate on our secondary. Dre Bly probably won't be around for long, and John Lynch is getting old.

The most pressing need is to protect Cutler, not find him more targets, that's just my opinion.
Although WR could very well be a huge question mark, Marshall isn't one of them....He's already much better than a decent receiver, and he's still growing up (Hopefully).
Walker knee scares me, but the only thing that scares me about Stokley is whether or not Denver can resign him.
The defense is still a joke, and as many as six new/future starters are needed, imo.
1 (maybe 2) safeties, TWO LBers, and 1 (Maybe 2) DL's....That's assuming Dumervil isn't a player that you're always trying to replace, to me he's still better off as a situational pass rusher. Although he's more than held his own as a starter, especially compared to the rest of the d-lineman.
Upgrading both lines is the most pressing need......

Yes, Cutler needs protection. Granted, our O-line is getting old. Idk how long Tom Nalen will stay around.
But right now, Cutler's protection is doing pretty well, and Cutler throws better outside of the pocket anyways, so it would be better to sign some Free Agent offensive weapons in case Brandon Stokley leaves.
Daniel Graham is a joke, so get rid of him and start Tony Scheffler.
If i had the #1 pick though, i'd draft a LB or a DL

You talk about how good the pass protection is with one breath and then talk about how badly Graham is playing in another?!?!?
Why do you think Cutler is so much better out of the pocket?

The offense was addressed in 2006. Cutler, Kuper, Pears, Scheffler, Marshall, Walker were all aquired that year. Myers was drafted in 2005. Graham, Stokley and Holland were selected to fill in holes in the offense this year. We have 3 solid WR's for the next 2-3 years, a solid TE combo with a offensive line getting better each week. It takes a few years for draft picks to start playing at optimal levels together. The only position I see Shanny drafting will be a WR later and a OT.
The weakness on this team is up the middle of the defense from DT to LB to Safety along with Special teams. Shanny drafted CB's in 2005, offense in 2006, and Dline in 2007. Linebackers will be addressed in 2008 to fill needs on defense and special tetams. Shanny can kill two birds with one stone. There are some good LB's this year from Conner, Hall and Laurinaitis at MLB and Adibi, Rivers, Groves, Highsmith at OLB just to name a few.
Big DT's Red Bryant, Frank Okam and Sedrick Ellis could be options as well.

A couple of things...
Adibi looks like a second rounder...
Hall is a guy that will likely drop in the Draft as he is not expected to work out well.
I would be willing to bet that Long gets Drafted by Belichink with the 49er selection.
The Beau kid from UNLV is a bit of a headcase, so proceed with caution with him.
Connor is the real deal, IMO, I just want to see that he can get up to and maintain his weight at 240 or above. To me, he is a MLB.
However, with just two picks on Day One, it is obvious we can't address all of our needs.
IMO, the place to address the LB's is in Free Agency. That's why the move to get Lance Briggs and Boss Bailey would be my moves, and leave the Draft for
more D-linemen.
A franchise LT like Sam Baker or Ryan Clady would be on my radar as well.
Our O-line in the 90's did not get truly great until we got a franchise LT in Gary Zimmerman. Those guys are worth their weight in Gold.

how is he a headcase? he the leadin tackler in the mountian west with 110, 4 FF, and 4 INTs. he has been invited to the Senior Bowl and will probably be be named the mountian west defensive player of the year. has the size 6'2 248 runs in the 4.5s range. he would be a solid pick. so how is he a headcase?

Jordan Dizon leads the NATION in tackles, and would be recognized already in Denver.
Problem is he is too small to be an NFL linebacker. But, you convert him to a safety like Lynch easy. He is super quick, super tough, and FLYS to the ball. Hes good at pass defense too. And im sure he would be available 2nd day.
