Great!
KC moves up ahead of the Cards and Lions (two teams not looking for OL) to grab Branden Albert...
GREAT pick, hate the trade up for him.
It was necessary to trade up and get him because some other team would have. Besides they got 2 third rounders from Minnesota and really can't sign 13 draft picks. KC is certainly having the best day so far....

With 30 mil in cap, we could easily afford to sign 13 to 15 draft picks after cuts.
IDK, waiting and grabbing Otah at 17 wouldnt have hurt my feelings so... I got no problem with it though, I assume we gave up a 4th rounder.

Great move by Detroit, move down and still have their choice of WRs

I am guessing that Mendenhall goes to the Cards at 16. RB is last piece of the puzzle to a dominating offense. Could take Otah too though.
Wow was I way off but I like the pick though. I forgot they are moving Rolle to S so now they got a high potential CB in the secondary. I agree with most of you though that KC is having the best draft so far.

Why do people count Henry out:confused: Do people not realize or remember that Henry was leading the league in rushing prior to his injury:confused: Oh well I think if he stays healthy this year he will put up 1500 yards with 15 TDs.
I don't know about 1,500 yards, although I'd like to see it....IMO believe we have to have a D that can stop the run for that to happen (ball control).

You think that there is any chance that maybe Shanny takes a long hard look at trading their first rounder next year for Dallas' 22 to try and grab Mendenhall? Or perhaps any other team?

Is it worth a 2009 1st rounder to get him?
Now that is a damn good question. I guess it would really depend on what our projected needs are for next year and how we feel we will do this year. I didn't like Mendenhall at 12 this year but I surely think he is worthy of being picked 15-20. I guess if we think we will finish this year in good fashion then it might be worth making a few phone calls but I am willing to bet it will take more than our first next year unfortuanately.
Corn_3024
04-26-2008, 02:20 PM
I would rather keep our RB's we have now and save our first rounder for next year. If both top safeties are off the board we could grab a tailback round two.

Felix Jones has been projected for months to go to Dallas at 22. Now with Mendenhall available they have a dilemma on their hands. Rumors have it they want to try and trade 28 to Detroit for Roy Williams so we shall soon see if that happens too. I can't imagine T.O. and Roy Williams on the same team.
Now Washington trades back and Atl moves up:confused:

This has to be counter-balanced by the fact they gave up Jared Allen to get the extra picks.
Let's be honest, we could trade Cutler and Champ for some #1s, and we'd have the best draft in the NFL.

I think we have to take a DT or Safety if any of the top guys (Trevor Laws, Tyrell Johnson, DaJuan Morgan, or Dre Moore are available). Remember, we don't have any safeties on our roster signed after this coming season.
I think both James Hardy and Limas Sweed are steals at this point in time. If we *really* want a return guy, DeSean Jackson is the only one of the top WRs that brings that element.
My big board for our 2nd Round pick as of this moment is:
1. Trevor Laws
2. Tyrell Johnson
3. DaJuan Morgan
4. James Hardy
5. Limas Sweed
6. DeSean Jackson
7. Dre Moore
8. Curtis Lofton
9. Tavares Gooden

The only person that they got via the trade was Branden Albert...
Even without Albert they still have an "A" caliber draft, its just not as good looking.
We have to wait until KC picks with the two third rounders they got from the trade to dertimine HOW bad the trade the was.

Like I said, we could have traded Cutler and Champ to get extra #1s or move up...I'll repeat one more time: Since the cheifs gave up their best player to get Albert, they need an * beside their draft.
If someone wants to give them an A+ for the draft, that's fine. But that must be countered by an F for offseason veteran moves by giving up one of the 2-3 best DEs in the NFL.

The draft is an A without Albert, both picks were GRADED A by Kiper. (Albert got a B because he was like 32nd on Kipers board).
And you cant put any * beside anything because we got more picks for Jared Allen than just hte first rounder.
Dorsey - A
Albert - B
Flowers - A
Overall - A
Somehow, I fail to see Albert helping out Kipers grading scale when he got the LOWEST grade. I dont agree, I think every pick is an A from this draft. And the offseason is a C+ to a B- so far, but you seem to not realize we have TWO MORE PICKS from Minnesota.

Kiper didn't account for you losing Allen. Kiper only deals with the draft, not trades.
I did. If you want to blow off the impact Jared Allen had on your team, go for it. I prefer reality.
The simple truth is, your chiefs haven't improved all that much over the last few days, not as much as everyone is pretending. You can live in denial all you want, but you must account for the loss of Jared Allen.
Let the Broncos draft their #2, then we'll compare:
Our #1 and #2 PLUS Robertson
vs.
cheifs #1 + #1 +#2 MINUS Allen
REALITY is, we're hanging in with the cheifs when ALL things are considered.

I know you have two more picks. And picks are just that, they are picks. Talk to me when the picks are of equal-greater value that Allen.
Or are you nostradumbass and can foretell the future and have already decided that they'll all work out?
You won't be better THIS year. And it's 50/50 AT BEST that you'll improve down the road more that you would have with Allen. Worse now. Coin flip in the future.
My final comment to you...Quit talking out of both sides of your mouth. You said you dislike the cheifs more since they got rid of Allen, but then say how they are getting better with the picks they got in the trade. So you don't want your team to get better? Eddie Royal is just as good of a returner as Jackson. He is also a much harder worker and better character. His QBs sucked at VTech and he was misused so he didnt get to show his full potential. Not a bad pick but I still would've preferred Laws or Conner.

Because your a brick wall, you dont seem to understand anything. you would say 2+2=5 and argue that for at least 10 years.
I could be like you and just write off all the picks, or I could wait and see... I know which option you've gone, and I'll go the opposite.
The Chiefs will be better this year. Our LBs are better, our CBs our better, our OL is better, and we have a starting RB all year. Yes we are probably a worse on the DL, yet we did attempt to make up for with drafting Glen Dorsey. Improve in 4 spots and get worse in 1? That makes us a worse team?
I dislike KC because they traded away Allen and I like him, yet i think the Chiefs after this whole offseason + draft are better. I know you dont understand, so just quit responding.
If you want to stop talking either A) just do it or B) realize your not going to put your opinion in a post then ask for it to stop.

1) Everything orange is a lie
2) Who is arguing what team is better? I think I said the Chiefs are having the best draft, then you turned it into a Broncos vs Chiefs offseason thread and after the draft KC is killing Denver.
3) I know Denver is better, I know KC isnt that good but your ignorance is unbelievable. YOu turned a draft thread into a Denver vs KC argument in which you are the lone loser argueing about which team is better.
Go ahead have your last word, keep talking about Chiefs vs Broncos I could care less... If you ever get back to the Cheifs draft being a A+ and Denvers being a F or a D then I'll respond. Until then, The Chiefs have had the best draft, the Chiefs have made up for losing Allen, and the Chiefs will be better this offseason. 04-26-2008, 10:22 PM
I think Eddie Royal is a better pick than Desean Jackson for a few reasons.
1) Royal is LESS likely to get hurt the first time a NFL LB hits him on a KR (DJ is likely to snap in half at 169 lbs)
2) Royal has a MUCH better attitude
3) Royal has a MUCH better work ethic
4) Both Jackson and Royal will be used mainly in slot situations but more so as kick returners and Royal is just as good of a Returner as Jackson
Now having said all of that I do think we filled a major need in getting a viable return man that we have so dearly missed for many years BUT, I agree with most of you that there were better players at HIGHER needs than WR at 42. All in all I am very satisfied with our first 2 selections today. I would really like to get Owen Schmidt in the 4th if he's there when we pick.

We for sure do not need Mario but he seems like the best player on the board. I think he will do well in the NFL. If the Broncos did not pick up Samie Parker I would say we would go for him. Now we just need to go for who we NEED.

WOW, KC had the best first 3 picks and 3 of the worst picks i've ever seen in my life...
Brad Cottam? 21 career receptions
Jamaal Charles? Alright, maybe BPA so livable and he is real good
DeJuan Morgan? WE HAVE NO NEED FOR A SAFTY, wasted pick.
I thought they were all three superb picks.
Morgan could be the best Safety in this draft. He's a superb player.
Cottam should be a very good blocking TE and at 6'7, a great red zone target.
Charles is a nice change up to Johnson and Smith.
I love your entire draft to this point.

Who's the best DT's left?
Choice would be a pick if he is still there in the fourth.

Ah, screw the Bears...
Oh well, Harrison was highly over rated IMO.
I am surprised moore has dropped so far.
Few I like.
Dre Moore, Maryland
Frank Okam, Texas
DeMario Pressley, N.C. State
Red Bryant, Texas A&M
Jason Shirley, Fresno State (Only in the 7th)
Letroy Guion, Florida State (if in the 7th but only if in 7th)

Moore is still on the board and Rubin and Okam. Also, Adibi has fallen and can immediate impact ST and possibly take over at WILL should DJ leave next year

Ahh, forgot about Pressley. Would be a great addition....We could have Elvis Pressley on our D-line :D
Raiders traded up with Cowboys
Edit:
Selection is Tyvon Branch corner?

This is what I don't understand, if you trade up that means you know who you want right?
Why are they still running the 5 minutes all the way down.
They take Tyvon Branch, CB, UConn

Rams take another corner, Justin King...so it looks like we won't take a CB until the 5th round at least.
6 picks to go until us.

KC passes on CBs/KR for Cottam and Morgan, then both Branch and King go a few picks before them...

is tashard choice a rb?
worth taking or is moore/okam a better bet?
Stupid Ravens! I was really high on Oniel Cousins.
Offensive Tackles
Kirk Barton, Ohio State
Will be great in a zone blocking system.
and
Tony Hills, Texas
If drops he is worth a look at and should be able to atleast attribute to special teams.
I really want to see our broncos grab an additional Tackle, preferably some one that could also be moved to guard if needed. This will add depth on our line. Increase competition. Also help on special teams.
And
Drew Miller, Florida could be a sleeper in the 7th... played all of the place and could be a hybrid center/guard/tackle, might be a decent guard for a team. Not sure about this guy though.
Guards
Donald Thomas, Connecticut
Adam Kraus, Michigan
Kirk Elder, Texas A&M
Running Backs
Chauncey Washington, USC
Tashard Choice, Georgia Tech
Wide reciever
William Franklin, Missouri
Mark Bradford, Stanford
Defensive Tackle
Dre Moore, Maryland
Frank Okam, Texas
DeMario Pressley, N.C. State
Red Bryant, Texas A&M
Jason Shirley, Fresno State (want the Broncos to consider him late in the draft.)
Letroy Guion, Florida State (if in the 7th but only if in 7th)
Inside Linebacker
Beau Bell, UNLV
Corey McKeon, Nebraska
Outside Linebacker
Ali Highsmith, LSU
Bryan Kehl, BYU
Ezra Butler, Nevada
Marcus Howard, Georgia
Erin Henderson, Maryland
Xavier Adibi, Virginia Tech
Marcus Howard, Georgia
Bryan Kehl, BYU
I will not mind any of these guys if they drop into the very late rounds.
Safety
Josh Barrett, SS, Arizona State
Marcus Griffin, FS, Texas
Fullback
Peyton Hillis, Arkansas
Owen Schmitt, West Virginia
Jerome Felton
And some kicker or punter... who ever is better and they like... And that will kick it far and accurate and stuff...
OUR PICK IS ALMOST THERE!

1) Tashard Choice
2) Pressley
3) Bryant
4) Moore
5) Adibi
6) Beau Bell
7) Marcus Griffin
We can go O-Line or D-Line 11 picks later too, if we want to take a RB here.
I say we taken Owen Scmitt with our next pick not this one.
If we go RB here, then I say we go D-Line later in the 4th, and hope for Schmitt in the 5th.
That sucks...
