Saw this note:

Neither player will say it publicly, but two of Detroits best offensive players -- receiver Roy Williams and running back Kevin Jones -- are counting the days until they can leave Detroit. While the losing seasons have taken their toll on the two players, there are other reasons why they want to leave the Lions organization and their motives arent exactly the same. Williams and Jones, who were both first-round draft picks in 2004, will become unrestricted free agents after next season and sources close to the players say theyve had enough and want out. -- Michigan Live

I don't know much about Kevin Jones, but he is 5'11", 228lbs. Might be a nice fit for Denver's running scheme. His numbers have not been consistent, though (although he does play for Detroit...need we say more?).

I'd much rather have Roy than Kevin... but either would be welcome here. Living in Michigan I have seen my share of both. I donno how well Jones would fit here, but he is a pretty decent back... and footballoutsiders even predicted he would have the rushing title his second season (didn't happen... but still they thought that much of him) his major problem has been injuries...

I don't like going for a running back through FA and giving him big money (already has lots of tread on the tires ususally and cost is high...) but if we were going to do it... I don't think Jones would be as expensive... and due to the same injuries he has missed some of the grind that is life as a running back....

if the price was right I wouldn't mind him in the least.

Thanks for the info. I saw his stats and wasn't sure if he missed games because of inconsistency or injury.

I also agree with you...spending big bucks on a FA running back is not my first choice. The Broncos are good at finding them in the draft. But, with other needs I'm sure we'll be exploring all options....

moot point now that TH was not suspended.

I'd love to have Roy Williams.

There is no room for Roy here, unless we get rid of Walker for some odd reason, and even then we still have to worry about securing Marshall long term as well try to keep Stokley around. Williams is a great talent, but I would be much happier to see Javon recover and have Walker,Stokley, Marshall. Does everyone not remember what Walker was doing prior to the injury?

I certainly do. However, "was" and "is" are two different things. I think it would be wise to brace yourself for the possibility that Javon doesn't return to his former level of play... and if he doesn't, there's no way in hell the Broncos are going to keep paying him No. 1 WR money.

Roy would be fine except that he'll be looking for a huge payday.

And he will deserve it... not saying we should, but only way I could see us gettin him was if we traded for him and signed him longterm before next season...

Won't happen...

Oh well :) In madden it could!

And about the FA thing... I would rather take a 1st round running back and have him cheaper for 5 years and play well than go for a FA 27+ year old back... not worth it EVER

And with the money thing... (not saying this is how it will go but try and follow along)

Say Walker is done... I hate to say it but SAY he is... we won't be payin him a salary... and will have some money and will Def. lock up Marsh... and then stokely will more likely than not be back next year... unless he is out to earn a ridiculous pay day I would think we keep him.

That would AT worst by our number 1 and 2 wideouts... not great... and some new wideout would help to put Stokes back in the slot...

IF Walker comes back and is full speed or even a step worse (like a number 2 wideout) we would have Walker and Marsh as 1A and 1B unless Marsh steps up his game even more (I could see it but who knows) and we would be ok for the top three.

Either way I wouldn't mind a young slot... with Cutler we can really open up our passing game and if we can get some vet or some cheap guy to take the number 4 or 3 spot and work him in I wouldn't be opposed... I don't like having NO real depth behind Marsh, Walker and Stokely, I know alot of teams do it.. and I know it is cheaper... but really... as of right now we lose Marsh our offense is Stokely, the tightends and no name undrafted feel good stories (I like to read it but really... you shouldn't count on them unless they have done somethin more than a few big catches....)

Just my opinion kinda ranting

Exactly, we couldn't afford Roy when we need to try and extend Marshall's contract as well as keep Stokley in the slot, plus Javon will probably stay with us at least until he gets another full offseason. Realize that Marshall is likely going to require #1 WR pay or something similar if we really want to lock him up, you can't afford to be paying him as well as trying to strike up a blockbuster contract for Williams, too little cap space and you cannot afford to have that much money tied up in your WR corp.

We dont need roy williams. Javon, when heathly, is top ten and Brandon Marshall is one of the best number twos even at his early age. And we dont need a running back at all. At the least we can use a committee of Henry, Young, and Hall/whatever great undrafted gem we dig up once again.

We must spend money on DTs now since we have a bunch of young named no bodies. We also need a solid OLB and we should invest money into a replace for Lynch, he'll be out of here soon.

Like I said.. I would think IF walker isn't healthy then we should be in the market for some sort of wideout... prolly not Roy...

And the running back thing we are pretty much stuck with for now... we paid the price we gotta roll the dice that Henry will actually do something positive next year (not fumble twice against Oakland...?) and be worth at least SOME of the money we paid him.

I will make my own offseason thingy later... still really thinkin bout it and looking at different stuff...
