Greetings all, big win yesterday but unfortunately I couldn't watch it. I did, however, watch the SD-TEN game, and my mind has been churning ever since.....

Albert Haynesworth is a monster. Yesterday he played on a bad hamstring and was absolutely unstoppable versus two of the top lineman in the NFL (SD's McNeil and Dielman). No other D-lineman has impressed me that much this year.

Today coming home from work I started thinking:

A) Haynesworth is a free agent this year and will definitely be franchised by the Titans.
B) Denver will most likely be looking to draft a DT in the first round (or a LB perhaps, but my money is on a DT).

That said, I think the Broncos should consider throwing the bank at this guy as perhaps our only big off-season acquisition. With him being franchised, it means we would have to give up 2 first-round picks to get him -- one of which we already are probably looking at for a DT. A guy like Haynesworth would be worth giving up the 2nd first-rounder for..... Of course we could go and draft another guy and take a chance on him. Why not put more stock in a guaranteed success?

It's not such a far-fetched idea if you consider the fact that guys like Derek Anderson and Donovan McNabb might command multiple high-round draft picks to get.....

I just wish is all.

It's just too much to give up when we have other needs too, sadly.

I propose we just sign Corey Williams instead, then draft another DT (not necessarily in the 1st round if Kenny Phillips is available) and then have Williams and Marcus Thomas starting next season with McKinley and our rookie DT providing depth.

Sorted. :coffee:

Two 1st rounders for a d-bag playing in his contract year? No thank you.

Haynesworth is not going anywhere IMO

Fisher was asked about haynesworth's contract the otherday and he laughed and said "Alberts not going anywhere"

Exactly right. How many TOP FAs have we seen getTOP dollar in the last ten years disappear?? I don't want to spend that kind of money. Can you imagine these boards if we pay BIG bucks for a DT?? There is NO WAY the player ever meets expectations or meets the 'value' of the money spent. These people will be up in ARMS!!

I think we get a DT in FA, and then spend the first round pick on a LB or Safety.

or Safety.

I have been thinking about this, and would not be surprised if denver drafted one.

Who's good out there in college or FA?

No one from syracuse

We do have a good DT big and fast, just think he lacks the polish for the broncos.

I wish we could put a big sign here saying "Albert Haynesworth isn;t going anywhere", so we could be rid of these worthless threads.

I bet if we offer him some Rocky Mountain Oysters and a cheeseburger with bacon he might come.

Or Denver could offer pigs that would make a month's worth of bacon to Haynesworth or any other elite DT.

If I were a DT, I'd take that deal anyday. Screw money, I'll just buy bacon with it. With that deal, I cut out the middleman and spend more time eating bacon and filling Bates's scheme.

I can't stand Albert Haynesworth after he stomped on that guy's face last season.

Albert Haynesworth was a complete bust up until this season. He's got Garard Warren-itis, AKA playing up to potential once and then dragging ass for the rest of the contract.

In other words, NO.

i don't want him stomping someones heads while he plays for us. and he's lost it on many occasions, that wasn't isolated. he's a head case. i don't want him wearing ANY orange and blue unless he gets orange gatorade on his titans jersey. they can have him.

we should just look for another good DT. we need to give up on this guy.

I do not think any of those guys were in the class that Haynesworth is. You say go draft one and then give three examples of the biggest draft bust at DT.

We will have to wait and see how Albert reacts to the Franchise tag, Tenn could decide to trade him if he pouts (much like Briggs did) or Tenn could decide to do a non exclusive franchise tag. Is Haynesworth worth (pun not intended) two 1st round picks? Obviously Denver would trade down to the bottom of the first round before offering a contract. Only Dwight Freeny received an Exclusive tag last year, there were 6 non exclusive and no one made an offer sheet to any of them. Freeny, Redding, and Grant signed long term deals.

I do not see Shanny playing this game with his good friend Fisher tho.

i think Albert Haynesworth will be bad for the team, i don't like those kind of players. Already like i said, stomping on a guy's face is very unsportsmanlike, and this kid has a temper.

1. it will not be feesable this year. we have around 16 million dollars and a Large amount of our own free agents we need to take care of.

2. We need to give OUR players large contracts that preform well. Not some guy that has been a nothing the first what five years in the leauge Scheff, DOOMervil, Marshall are all up at the same time. might as well knock one or two out that way we are not stuck in losing them. I'd take anyone of those guys any day over Hanysworth.

3. It's of my opoinon that AH is playing for a contract. He has NEVER produced until this year. Most of your Run Stuffing tackles can be found later in the draft. and usually they can excell at it. spending a first pick on one is a risk but i would take that risk over hanysworth every day and twice on sunday. theyll come a boat load cheaper then hanysworth too.
