This made me laugh. This guy is a supposed "expert".

1st round

15. Denver (6-7)
The Pick: Early Doucet, WR, LSU
The Buzz: Mike Shanahan wants more playmakers to help Jay Cutler develop.

2nd round

46. Denver
The Pick: DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College
The Buzz: The Broncos need to address their secondary after a poor 2007 performance.

Does this guy even watch football?

Frank Coyle is a nationally known NFL scout who publishes Draft Insiders' Digest and www.draftinsiders.com. Draft Insiders' Digest is dedicated to year-round coverage of NFL and NCAA Football. Coyle covers the NFL Draft and free agency extensively with a veteran scouting staff that provides insightful and unique information on players and team potential in the coming seasons. Draft Insiders' Digest is an extensive publication that produces more than 20 issues throughout the year, beginning with an Online Pro Prospects Preview and Fantasy Football Rankings in August and a 200-page Draft Yearbook in March.

Frank Coyle sucks, maybe he thinks this rook CB should take over for Champ.

It's not as far fetched as one would think. Here is why....

1) Javon Walker might be cut. He's due a huge bonus this offseason, and if the team thinks his knee is degenerative, it simply can't keep him. And furthermore, even if he takes a pay cut, we don't know if he will return to starting calibur form.

2) Assuming we do cut Walker, we have no depth at WR. What happens if either Marshall or Stokley get injured? Maybe Rod Smith comes back and helps out...maybe not. But I sure don't want to see Glenn Martinez as a starting WR, do you?

3) As for CB, it is true, our secondary has had a bad year. But, it's mainly due to our safety play. Bly and Bailey have been a little off this season, probably due to nagging injuries, but opposing QBs have a 90QB rating against us. That's ridiculous. If it wasn't so easy to run on us, teams could annihilate us with the pass. The problem stems from having terrible coverage safeties, and generally committing one of them to the box at all times to help against the run. For the most part, our safety play has been so bad, we've been using Ian Gold as a safety, and that's sad that a LB is used in such a manner because it's almost always a guaranteed mismatch, though Gold has done pretty darn well in that role this year, though the common fan fails to see what the team is asking him to do.

4) Foxworth and Paymah are entering their final seasons. One or both could be traded or snatched away in retricted free agency this offseason. We have zero CB depth behind those two....literally. Zero. Nil. Zilch. Natta.
And since Foxworth is almost guaranteed to leave for a starting job elsewhere in 2008, we desperately need CB depth this draft. It's a major need.

So...would I be excited with those picks? Not really. Would I understand them? Absolutely.

The CB pick is what really suprised me. I would think Broncos would do their best to keep Paymah here, and would like Fox to stay as well. But like you said Fox is probably gone after Bly coming in. I'm not excited about these picks either, I guess I can understand them better after your response. Thanks for the input. :salute:

WR is a need, but drafting Doucet 15th is just overdrafting in a bad way.

Right now we have Stokley and Marshall, a pretty good duo to start. Walker will get cut, have to restructure or retire if his injury is too bad. Rod Smith may or may not come back, I am leaning towards not. Glenn Martinez is a solid number 4 guy. We do need a number 3, but with WR being the only position that is solid in FA this year I doubt we will go 1st round on WR.

CB will be a need, possibly, potentialy. Bly has a big fat deal so he is not going anywhere, Champ is staying put too. Foxworth and Paymah will both be retained for another year as RFA's. We could draft a CB and Trible is a pretty good pickup, however CB is not the reason our pass D has been exploited. Our total lack of pressure from the middle of our defensive linie and the abysmal cover play of our linebackers and safeties are the reason. In several games more than 50% of the recieving yardage has gone to runningbacks and tight ends. That says that our CB's are okay, the rest stinks. Which is why we NEED to draft a LB.

I would say Dan Connor or Keith Rivers in the 1st. A big DT if one is there in the 3rd, if not, a S or another LB.

If that was our first two picks I think I'd bust a blood vessel I'd be so pissed.

We might draft either position if a player we like is available, but not until the 3rd round at the earliest.

I'm not an expert and judging players, but I think the reason our corners are getting beat more is that they have there eyes in the backfield constantly, I cant remember how many times I've seen our DB's tackling the RB, it's not there job quite frankly. Bailey and Lynch are awesome at it, but shouldn't always have to worry about the running back on 3rd down.

Our corners have been elite this year. They haven't been getting beat except here and there. Our pass defense issues have a lot more to do with an inconsistent pass rush, iffy safety help, and the fact that we've been stacking the box most of the year. Both Bailey and Bly have been exceptional overall this year, and if the rest of the defense was more sound, people wouldn't stop singing their praises.

The problem with Early Doucet is he had a horrible senior season and was always hurt. If we pick a WR I would go all emo if we chose him in the first.

that guy is an idiot we have far more pressing needs early than wr or corner, at least paymah or foxworth if not both will be retained. i personally think we could get something in a trade of foxworth because the guy will start on any other team that doesnt have a cb duo like ours. as far as wr not to many teams have 2 recievers performing like our #1 and 2 so even if walker leaves i still feel its not an issue because, the rookie wont beat out stokley or marshall, and i believe smith will come back next year as well as martinez so we have 4 wr spots filled with proven recievers. other than looking at a wr for return duites i feel we wont be pciking a wr either.

1. DT oakm
2. LB ezra butler
3. OL john greco i think we trade fox for a thrid rd pick and get this guy
4. SS wesely woodyard
5. FB Peyton hills/FB owen schmidt or FB jacob hester
6. LB jordan dizon
7. WR/returner

that is our 2008 draft fellas........lol

no cb or early WR

Seriously, if we draft a WR in the 1st round, I will be so very disappointed in our coaching staff. I doubt they will though. My personal hope is that Cutler develops into a good enough QB to make a star out of any WR (ala Wes Wekler, Jabar Gaffney).

I would not be at all surprised if Shanahan picked DeSean Jackson in the first round. He's got big play ability as both a receiver and returner.

Considering how pressing our needs are in other areas, I wouldn't care if he walked on water. Drafting a WR in the first round would be idiotic.

I agree... but Shanahan has his own mind. Something to keep an eye on come draft day.

Are you serious have you been watching the same games we been watching cutler is a good Qb he only has like 3 seconds to throw the football every snap due to the lack of protection he gets from the sorry Oline we have maybe if he had more protection he would be better plus he only has one full season under his belt give the guy a break lets see you play QB see how you do maybe you be the next elway plus i don't think mike drafted cutler to cut him in his second year:fight:

I highly doubt this guy is even a broncos fan. Everyone of his posts is predicting Denver to lose out and to replace Cutler because he played at Vanderbilt.

But seriously, we can pick up an FA reciever. I sure hope we don't waste a draft pick on one when we really need some help on the front 7.

No, I think that's just Woody Paige trolling...:D...

What do you think of Coyle, Lancane? I've been getting his book for years and he's been damn good, imo.

I don't know about drafting a CB in the 2nd round, but they'll need to explore the possibility later if they lose either Foxworth or Paymah......

Not sure, never thought about Coyle much. And I really can not see us drafting a corner in day one. Foxworth will net a third round pick and he wants to start, Denver will jump on it to move up in the draft. I see Paymah being re-signed to compete at nickle and for depth.
