ADARIUS BOWMAN
Oklahoma State
WR | (6'3", 225, 4.48)
Imagine this guy next to Brandon Marshall
Strengths: A late bloomer with an outstanding combination of height, bulk and straight-line speed. A massive target with long arms and big hands. Excels on vertical routes and is a big-play waiting to happen. He does a great job of using his body to shield defenders on slants, posts, etc. Also wins most jump ball battles. Is deceptively fast because he builds speed as he goes and will get over the top of DB's quicker than they think. Shows the ability to make the acrobatic catch and has strong hands to pluck the ball away from defenders in heavy traffic. Has proven consistently capable of catching the ball over his head. Not afraid to go over the middle. He's a tough runner after the catch. Very difficult for DB's to bring down one-on-one. Gives a good effort as a blocker. Is big and strong enough to dominate most CB's at the point of attack once locked on.
Weaknesses: Needs to show more consistent focus. Drops a few passes he shouldn't simply because he's looking upfield instead of securing it first. Lacks explosive initial burst and will need to improve his array of release moves to compensate in the NFL. Still too sloppy as a route runner. Rounds off too many of his routes and isn't crisp enough getting in and out of breaks particularly on intermediate routes. Could have significantly more trouble separating in the NFL if he doesn't improve the crispness of his routes. He's not overly elusive after the catch and he lacks the initial burst to explode up the field right away he needs a crease or to break a tackle in order to make big gains after the catch. Effort and size/strength are good as a stalk blocker but he must improve his technique and angles.
Overall: Bowman originally attended North Carolina where he played the 2003-'04 seasons. He transferred to Oklahoma State, sitting out 2005 in accordance with NCAA regulations before suiting up in 2006. Bowman has played in 31 games (15 starts, 13 in 2006) catching 88 passes for 1,691 yards (19.2 average) and 17 touchdowns during his career. After sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, the former Tar Heel proved to be an instant impact player during his first season in Stillwater, OK. Bowman possesses an outstanding combination of size, speed and athletic ability. If he improves his route running and continues to put up similar type numbers versus more double-team attention as a senior, Bowman could be one of the top-five receivers selected in the 2008 draft.

he looks good stats wise, but i watched him at the senior bowl and he dropped alot of passes. I don't want to use a second on a pass dropping wide receiver, he isn't that quick he has build up speed. We need a more explosive quicker wide receiver to compliment BMarsh.

I don't like him, either, and Oklahoma St is not exactly known for developing quality NFL WR's...the last kid that was drafted high out of there is currently out of the NFL, and that was just a couple of years ago, although his name escapes me at the moment...

He is overrated as he dropped a ton of passes at the senior bowl. He is also not what the Broncos need. We need a guy with that is explosive and can get open down field. In my opinion that guy is Manningham.:D Now all we have to do is hope he falls to Denver in the second round.

2 outstanding years at OK State and ya'll are ready to write him off after one poor week off concentration?
Bowman's a premier physical specimen. He'll be treated as such on draft day.

But Mindfield is right though OK State isnt well known for their WR developing talent.
I'd Rather get Earl Bennett from Vanderbilt, Mario Manningham from Michigan, Eddie Royal From VA Tech, DJ Hall from Alabama. Any of those WR would be better then Adarius Bowman who's stalk is falling like a lead Balloon, he could well end up going into the 5th round by the time his stock stablizes even just by redeeming himself at the combine he may still end up in the 5th, but he may also fall.

Althought, I think that Adarius would be a good fit. Malcolm Kelly would absolutely be a better pick if hes there in the 2nd. Now another thing is we have other holes to fill before we go drafting WRs willy nilly. B-Marsh IMO is going to be our #1 for many years to come and if we can pick up a reliable outside threat in FA like Berrian we would be good to go. Scheffler is another reason I don't see us drafting a WR early, that guy has huge potential and Shannahan sees He, Cutler and Marshall developing a great chemistry.
On a side note I wouldn't mind hearing MK freestyle about beating the raiders instead of my Huskers :(

You need to keep in mind that his stock has dropped to 3rd round level. If we could turn a couple later picks into a 3rd rounder and pick him up there I'd be ECSTATIC. Keep in mind coming into the year some people were talking about him as a top 5 OVERALL pick.

I'm a Husker too, and watching the Big 12 all year I wouldn't spend a second round pick on Bowman. Even though hey has great athletic ability, he seemed very inconsistent all year. I do believe he would be a great later round pick.
I believe we should go after our boy, Carl Nicks in the second!!;)
But it would also be nice to have that extra day 1 pick.
Huskers are on their way back.

So would Jay:coffee:
I can see us going after Bennett because of his history with Jay and (correct me if I'm wrong) similarity in style to Roderick.
The only problem is that leaves us very much without a canonical deep threat. Hopefully Marshall can improve that aspect of his game but as it stands that is probably the biggest concern with drafting Bennett.

Who's Roderick?
Manningham, DJ Hall, or Eddie Royal.

Adarius Bowman is still one of the top 5 WRs in the draft, IMO. I'd happily take him in the 2nd. Talk about a physically-imposing WR corps with him and Marshall.

Drafting Earl Bennett would be a very good pick, although I don't think he has the physical skills Kelly has, Earl set SEC Freshman records with Jay throwing to him in college, but with B-Marsh still being young hes our go to WR and my question would be, would Jay tend to look more to one of the other?

What about Malcom Kelly out of OU?
Thought many considered one of the best WR in college the last two years.
Would he be a good pick up for Denver in the 2nd round?

There's another receiver with the name Roderick Smith as I have said before. He plays for Auburn and he's plays very similiarly to our beloved Roderick Smith.

Quick does that Roderick have a belly Button  (if you dont get the joke then i'll explain it once someone is dumb enough to ask about the relevance of a belly button)

Sadly yes he does. I would love to see that type of production again.

so there goes the whole 'cloning of our Rodrick'
and I was hoping he was a clone so we can argue in the courts that he's under contract with us already :smug:
