Brian Young DT - Not a Flashy pick and he’s quite old at age 31, He had a good start off but got ill with pneumonia, could benefit from a change of scenery. He’s a solid DT and would be good to grab before the Saints decide to resign him.
Will Demps, FS- we need a solid FS that can play now not some FS project that may take a year to get up to speed, Demps can fill in well at the FS spot pushing Abdullah back into the backup roll again.
Max Starks, OT - we need an upgrade over Pears, I rather move Harris to RT and have Starks start LT. He’s suffered a knee injury and would fit well in our system, the knee may give us a cheap OT who we can fill a LT need while getting someone in the Draft not as early.
Bryan Johnson WR- The Cards will probably let this guy walk but he’s more of a Solid number 2 we don’t need him to stay a Bronco for more then 5 years unless we have to, I would elect to bring him in only to let a WR study under him.
Jason Elam K- we got a younger kick off Kicker as of now, still getting Elam as an insurance policy for our FG woes would help.
Trades.
Ian Gold to the Saints for their 4th round pick - The Saints are hurting bad for any defensive help espically experienced defensive help and with the Bengals also wanting Gold’s services forking a 4th for the guy will be seen as a panic move for them, all the more to gain.
Javon Walker to Dallas for a 5th round pick- Walker wants out and since Texas may not want to let go of anyone on their team, I doubt they will concede a trade for any of their defensive personnel.
Denver - Detroit trade.
Detroit wants a 2nd rounder and I don’t think Shanny will pull the trigger on trading our 1st to move down so I’ll go with this formula.
2nd round
Denver holds the 42nd draft pick (480 pts)
Detroit holds the 45th draft pick (420 pts)
Detroit needs CB help a CB that has actually played, So with that said.
Denver Sends RFA CB Domique Foxworth, RB/FB Mike Bell and their 42nd draft pick to Detroit for DT Sean Rodgers and their 45th draft pick. Since we hold the keys to Foxworth im going to tag him with 3rd round 72nd 230pt value and with a 60 point difference it equates to a 64th draft pick 270 points = 2nd low rounder.
We get the 45th 2nd round overall pick and we get Rodgers. Think that may be far fetched, ok maybe a little but we could fleece the Falcons for the Texan’s 2nd rounder which they have. They have to many holes and could use a CB that has some experience.
Quick overlook
Denver has Filled for now the following spots DT x 2, FS, WR, OT.
Now with that being said Denver has the following,
12th, 45th,104th, 115th, 129th, 140th, 202nd, 209th
Trade our 45th (450) pick to Colts for their 59th pick (310) and 93rd [overall pt difference(12)] .
Now I have the 12th, 59th , 93rd, [104th, 109th, 115th,] [129th, 140th 155th] , 202nd, 209th picks. and 5th pick
Trade our 129th and 155th to Philadelphia for their 111th pick (value lost .4)
Overall picks now , 12th 59th 93rd , 104th , 109th, 111th, 115th, 140th, 202nd , 209th
Area totals, 1st round = 1 pick, 2nd round = 1 pick, 3rd round = 1 pick, 4th round = 4 picks, 5th round =1 pick , 7th round = 2 picks.

1st round 12th pick, Hate to be redundant,
Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
Height 5ft 11
Weight 210
40 yard Dash 4.45
20 yard shuttle 4.18
Reasons for the 1st round pick.
Mendenhall has every aspect you look into a all-star RB, low center of gravity, makes it harder for a defensive player to grab on to, also generates more acceleration on the fly. Mendenhall is both your inside and outside runner. As a 1st year starter he racked up 1,681 yards and 17 TD’s with close to 2000 all purpose yards. His frame is excellent for both inside and outside runs, He also has a 2nd gear for the breakaway speed in the open field. If your looking for something special in the Draft this will be it right here its a close to no-brainier pick for Shanahan when you look at the position where you stick in a void of no defense in the middle. Getting a player thats both a great value, need and want what could you ask for more.
2nd round 59th pick (from Colts)
Earl Bennett WR, Vanderbilt
Height 6ft 1, Weight 205
40 yard dash 4.48
20 yard shuttle 4.22
Other then his ties to our own Jay Cutler, Earl Bennett is what Shanahan would love in a WR that can easily complement Brandon Marshall and the run game. Bennett can block down the field a well for a WR. He has some initial quickness off the snap and can give a good bust on his routes. He’s more of your play after catch type of Wide Receiver then a deep threat. Still don’t doubt that he cannot be one. He does has some issues on separating from Defensive backs but that can be coached. At the 59th pick Bennett will be hardly a reach, I have this guy pegged at a 2-3 rounder possibly high 3rd due to most of the WR’s breaking out.
3rd round 93rd overall (from Colts)
Ezra Butler OLB, Nevada
Height 6ft 2
Weight 248
[serching for his offical times still, 40, press, as well as the other drills]
We need a Pass rushing OLB and well Ezra Butler fits the bill, his frame is well developed with long arms. He has a rare speed possibly could be a younger form of Ian Gold. This kid as agility and balance for his size. His instincts are sharp and can play well inside the box. This kid is a risk taker and gets fired up which is a plus. Hard worker in practices and in the training room...Shows better discipline working through trash and plugging rush lanes rather than giving chase on the perimeter...Will usually play on that perimeter, but shows the ability to engage, shed and make tackles in the hole better...Flashes the ability to redirect and has a strong closing burst on the blitz...Willing tackler with strong, explosive hits and when he keeps the action in front of him, he generates good pop on contact...Sees the plays develop better when closer to the line of scrimmage and might be a better fit as an inside guy in a 3-4 alignment, as he is a tough inside force who might not shed well but can occupy multiple blockers...Not a smash-mouth type of hitter, but does show good force behind his hits...Could be more explosive shooting his hands at the point of attack, but his size and strength let him win most of his battles vs. smaller blockers. Still would be an overall steal if we can snag this kid even though he may be suited for a 3-4 situation this kid would most likely give Slowik a hard on and can easily be adapted to play a 4-3. The kid draft wise may be a high 4th pick and since were near bottom edge of the 3rd getting the kid at the 93rd would be a slight but doable reach.
4th round 104th pick
John Greco OT, Toledo
Height 6ft 5
Weight 320
40 time (not yet)
Bench Press: 30 reps
This kid would be the proverbial steal, a Prototype OT(L/R) and OG, sold frame with a good bone structure and could put more weight on if needed. Quiet leader on the field, but will not hesitate to take a teammate to task for a poor performance...Uses his size and lower-body strength to get movement off the snap, especially when working in-line...Demonstrates good knee-bend and recovery quickness to protect the pocket and adequate change-of-direction agility...Hard worker in the weight room, taking well to hard coaching...Intelligent athlete who is quick to locate stunts and shows good patience on twists...Easily takes plays from the chalkboard to the field. Has the knee-bend to stay low in his pads off the snap...Lacks explosion, but has a decent initial step, but relies more on patience in pass protection...Has the upper-body strength and body lean to engulf smaller defenders. All are good Hopefully im selling this guy off as a good buy. Good OT depth and would be a great starter for our zone blocking scheme as we can probably get him up to speed fast.

4th round 109th pick
Ahtyba Rubin DT, Iowa State
Height 6'3"
320 lbs
40 time: 5.25
Bench Press. 35reps
Now this guy is strong big and is a diamond in the rough at DT. Also easy to mention he can also play on the Offensive line. Now that’s a bargain at another 4th rounder. Is a prototype Nose Guard but can be adapted to a 4-3 technique quite easily, good lateral agility Can locate the ball and fights to make the play, pursues well for a man his size and plays to the whistle. A drawback, he’s big and can tire easily and seems to disappear at times due to double teams, could use more work on technique to split double teams and shed a few extra pounds to be at 300 giving him better overall speed and stamina. Also has a slight mean streak.
4th round 111th pick
Chris Harrington DE, Texas A&M
Height 6'5"
Weight 268
40 time. 4.79
Good size and can play either end on early downs, motor runs pretty high and can give everything on every play, isn’t fooled too easily by misdirection, able to read and react and can chase down plays down the line and downfield, would be a major Special teams boost, uses his hands well enough to fend off Tackles and played with heart when he was hurt in 2006. Needs to work on his initial step to the QB, and needs to put more muscle on to fend off larger tackle bull rushes. Overall with very little downside that could be fixed via workouts Getting Harrington would be a good pick if we don’t sign Ekuban.
4th round 115th pick
Harry Douglas WR Lousiville
Height 5ft 11
Weight: 176
40 time: 4.36
3 cone drill : 6.57
20 yard shuttle: 4.12
As Denver has made the announcement that the safety class has not impressed them, and with the pick ups of 2 DT's in FA 1 DT in the draft and 1 DE and OLB, has improved the front 7 considerably, With the signing of FS Will Demps the retaining of Abdullah, Furgison and Lynch's return the secondary is packed. Harry Douglas becomes a strong pick as another WR that will catch Shanahan's eye. He has good speed and can play out of the slot and 2nd position. Also being able to use him as a return specialist on Special teams would help the Broncos overcome their ST short coming while getting rid of a few scrubs on the WR list that just take up space and have not done well. He has the intangibles to spread the field and explode with his second gear. The slight problem is his frame and hands which are both thin and may not be able to handle more weight without the impact on his speed and his small hands, yet his speed will be deadly, but has to play smart on the KR and not go through the middle where he may end up running into trouble by not picking up extra yardage.
5th round 140th pick
Kory Lichtensteiger C, Bowling Green
Height: 6ft 3 Weight: 310 lbs
Position: C Pos 2: OG
40 time: 5.26
5th round is where Shanahan may look to get his 2009 starters for the offensive line, Kory Lichtensteiger would be a solid 5th round pick up for us too groom for C when Nalen decides to hang it up. Taking a bigger approach to C his weight is ideal. He was one of the six finalist for the Rimington Trophy, He will participate in the Senior bowl. Look for this guy to play. The guy has a bit of a mean streak but the drawback is he can bet beat sometimes but still this guy can play solid, good frame and decent footwork, still would be a solid pick up.
202nd
Gary Barnidge TE, Lousiville
Height 6ft 6in
Weight 235
40 yard: 4.65 ; 3-cone : 6.92 ;
Bench Press: 22
Gary Barnidge is a weaker version of Tony Scheffler, yet since we need a bocking TE, Barnidge can be trained to add more weight to become one as his body can handle the load for extra muscle, he does work well as an option to throw out and since Graham isnt getting younger getting Barnidge to develop behind him would be wise with our 202nd pick. He will end up in the 7th mostly due to not being strong enough to block as an inside TE. As well other TE's will force him into the 7th due to their better performances.
209th
Ken DeBauche, P , Wisconsin
Height 6ft 1in
Weight: 218lbs
40 time: 4.95
Pretty Heavy weight for a Punter but this guy has an average of 42.4 yards, he also has a decent arm he has one 31 yard yard toss on his record. This would be a good pick for Denver as they struggled to find a decent punter.
Anyway this concludes the first After Combine Mock.

my firend i can tell u put alot of effort in this, well done. My head hurts now from trying to follow all the action up top with the trades, i thought i had alot of trades:D......
anyway good value except for demps he is listed on most boards now as a possible second to third rd pick, i am curious if he will still be there in the 4th, if he is i am all for it, if not Jamar adams or caleb campbell work for me as they are both suppose to be 4th rounders, who knows though it will be interesting to see how many changes we have to our mocks in the coming days.......:salute:

I actually have demps as a place holder, today is the DB's combine :D
he'll be gone and someone will be added instead of him.

Excellent work Kaz...and I find it very plausible, and with Rashard on there you know I really like it. I would have a few changes, Butler for one...I am not high on him and we are likely to go after a pure inside linebacker and sign an outside linebacker in free agency. Greco is a solid pick, but I think Hills, Barton and a few others would be more likely! Other then that overall solid and I would be happy!

Butler is very good for an OLB, and he's the kind of kid that would give Slowik a cubby because of his ablity to play a 5 technique and rush from outside and still be able to change directions.
Hills and Greco were both a toss up and I went with Greco who would be able to push Harris into the iside and Greco can take up RT.
Im still looking for a Soid FS in the 4th.
my draft approach for defense was fix the front. I added a FA DT and got Rodgers with the 2nd Bell and Foxworth trade, then traded down again to grab Indy's 2nd and 3rd.
Then Since i had 3 5ths i traded 2 to move up and grab 4 4ths. Well as you can see. I really don't need an all-star FS like Phillips, but when my Front 7 can come up and smack you in the face there wont be any chances to air it out or run.
Thanks Lanc i'll be updating once the combine is done for DB, i may end up taking a TE or FB in place of a Safety.

New outlook at what we have done FA wise and what can be done. Some of the Picks Im sticking with and I fixed around picks that would give us more flexibility as well get better players with movement.
Free Agent additions, DT, FS, WR, OT
Draft Looks OLB, HB, WR, OT, DT,
Trades,, Foxworth, Mike Bell,
Sign Free Agent
Ethan Kelley DT-A BrownCO, I’m probably going to get toasted for adding another Brown but when the DT pool is shallow and overpayment rampant on other teams. Getting Kelley and having some odd success with Browns before he will be a stop gap DT to groom a younger DT below us.
WR- signed Keary Colbert, Panthers.
OLB - Signing Boss Baley (which looks like a possibility) He’ll come cheap but I guess that’s all we can ask for right now is cheap.
Trades.
12th, 42nd, 104th, 115th, 129th, 140th, 202nd,209th,
Denver sends Foxworth, Mike bell and our 202nd pick to New York Giants for their 3rd and 6th over all picks. The Giants need CB depth and RB depth and Since Foxworth is an RFA and can be tendered to be worth a low 3rd 96th pick (116pts) and for their 6th pick (192nd [14.6 pts]) this will balance out as we get a low 3rd rounder for our tender + a 6th pick.
Detroit - Denver Trade. (2nd rounders) = Denver sends their 42nd pick and 209th to Detroit for their 45th pick and 136th.
42nd (480) + 209nd (7th)[7.8] - 45th (450) + 136th [38] (5th) = .2 pt loss
recap of picks so far just so you guys don’t get lost.
12th, 45th, 96th, 104th ,115th, 129th ,140th, 136th, 192nd
Trade our 45th (450) pick to Packers for their 60th pick (310) and 91st (136) [overall pt difference(4)] .
Now I have the 12th, 60th , [91st, 93rd ], [104th, 108th, 115th,] [136th] ,192nd.
Trade our 129th(43) and 140th (36) to Cincinnati for their 108th pick (78pts) loss value 1pt.
Denver trades 91st (136) + 104th pick to Minnesota for our 73rd pick back loss of value = 3pts.
Total now Denver has the following picks.12th, 60th, 73rd, 93rd, 108th, 115th, 136th, 192nd

If your looking for something special in the Draft this will be it right here.
With the now commitment back to run first, its imperative to grab a top shelf RB that can be a sudden impact as well as being a huge shake up in the league. We stood quiet in the FA market and Shanahan loves to make noise so picking a HB here would make the biggest noise in the league.
2nd round 60th pick (from Green Bay)
Earl Bennett WR, Vanderbilt
Height 6ft 1, Weight 205
40 yard dash 4.48
20 yard shuttle 4.22
Other then his ties to our own Jay Cutler, Earl Bennett is what Shanahan would love in a WR that can easily complement Brandon Marshall and the run game. At the 60th pick Bennett will be hardly a reach, I have this guy pegged at a 2-3 rounder possibly high 3rd due to most of the WR’s breaking out.
3rd round 73rd pick (back from Minn)
Ahtyba Rubin DT, Iowa State

Bench Press. 35reps

3rd round 93rd overall (from Colts)
John Greco OT, Toledo
Height 6ft 5
Weight 320
40 time (not yet)
Bench Press: 30 reps
This kid would be the proverbial steal, a Prototype OT(L/R) and OG, sold frame with a good bone structure and could put more weight on if needed. 4th round 108th pick
Jonathan Goff ILB/OLB Vanderbilt
Height 6ft 2
Weight 238
With the possible Signing of Boss Baley, Jonathan Goff looks as a better candidate for Strong Side Linebacker to push Winborn out and on the bench. The guy is a natural leader as he was voted twice by his peers to be the Defensive Captain for Vanderbilt. He shows good awareness and takes good angles to get depth, he’s at his best as an inside run stuffer. Shows good hand movement to push off blockers to disengage to persue and can go down field and tackle (something we lacked). He may turn heads but I doubt teams will pull the trigger on the guy until he reaches the 4th round, at the 108th pick he’s a good pick up.
4th round 115th pick
DeMario Pressley DT, North Carolina State
Height 6ft 3
Weight 300
40 time 5.12
DeMario came into the combine graded as a 2nd day DT and ended the combine as a 1st day projected DT. I have him slip into the 2nd day like most DT’s he’ll be overlooked by teams who would want to get DT’s like Laws or speedier backs. The questioning for 2 DT’s and getting a FA DT is simple, rotation and with rotation gives the secondary less pressure as there’s more impact in the front 7. Pressley does lack some burst and can tire easily but he’s a good rotational player and can be a force used right. He can occupy blockers and is very tough to move off the line. He can holds up well against double teams and has good speed and willing to pursue to the flanks.
5th round 136th pick
192nd 6th round
Mike Dragosavich, P, North Dakota State
Height 6-6
Weight 212
40 time 4.85
We need a punter and we need one bad. The guy average punt is 45.4 yards and still needs to learn how to shorten his 3 step delivery, as well as a better touch to pin teams inside their 20 yard line

Going Vandy this year huh? I like it except for the fact we had 9 picks and gave one away for a higher pick. I don't think it makes much difference in the later rounds where you pick because there will almost certainly be someone you want there. I would do the one with Minn for the early 4th and keep 9 picks.:salute:

Point value wise we had to, but the thing is we get our 73rd pick back and with it we get a good NT that will slip in that area.
The thing is at the 60th and 73rd pick it will fall to either, if Rubin is there at 60th or continues to slip into the 3rd I believe we'll pull the trigger there. Bennett hasnt fully solidified himself as a 2nd round pick which leads me to believe he'll be more of a High 3rd and if He's there at the 73rd then go for him after we pick up Rubin.
Greco is one of the better mid round OT's and with the addition of Starks I can move Harris to the visible side and use Greco to be the new LT.
The whole plan is to literally trade Henry in 2009 + our 1st rounder to move up, cut Boss or push him into Special teams so he can play, then Move DJ to the Outside get an MIKE like Rey Maualuga and have Goff as SILB. If DJ cant solidify himself as a MIKE then Maualuga would be a must (guys a head hunter who plays pist off) I would trade DJ or ask him to play OLB if he wants to stay, either way were stuck with boss for a while.
Now that would be a deadly trio.

I don't think it could go down any better if we did those trades. I enjoyed this, mainly because of the players I get off to are in it. :D

I take it that you like how it came out dream.
I mainly looked at it from the point of view that we will not take a Safety this class at all.
Getting two DT's and adding a FA DT would give us enough Front 4 firepower to make the secondary.
Then I want to get Goff then hopefully try to land a good mike next year.
I really despise Henry but I can see him as a bargaining chip to move up in the draft next year to get one of the far better DT/ILB/FS-SS players in the 2009
