The Broncos are reportedly interested in free agent Shaun Alexander.
He would just add another body to a mostly unimpressive stable of Broncos backs. Alexander, who turns 31 before the season, should come cheaply.

i hope we dont pursue alexander,we should draft anthony aldridge or maybe jamaal charles just a younger back

Was Maurice Clarett not slow enough for Shanahan?......

If we're going to spend money on a injured RB with skills sign up Kevin Jones.

Wow, I might have to bit*h slap Shanny for even thinking about something like this.

Ha! Ha! Ha! That's what YOU HOPE!
But, what does this tell you about Shanahan drafting a RB in the 1st round?
I'll tell you what it means! NO Rashard Mendenhall! No Jonathan Stewart! It means a 1st round OT or else trade back and grab a WR or LB or S.
Maybe he'll still look for a RB later in the draft. :coffee:

I'll take that....
Just anything except Alexander... Give me a new, fresh, young rookie over Alexander.

If Stewart and Mendenhall are not an option for Shanahan but Alexander is......I'll lose even more confidence in his ability to build a football team.
I didn't think that was even possible......

I see nothing wrong with a cheap, 1-year deal for him. He provides depth and could rejuvenate his career in our scheme.

I started a thread the other day. I can't understand why so many here are against Alexander, Shanny will not draft a RB early enough to get a high ranked draft pick he would be more likely to get a late round guy and work with him. We picked up Clady lets get a known good old guy with a couple good years left. I hate the one-two punch idea. Alexander can be a star. It is not his fault Seatle's offensive line stinks. How is Alexander worse than Henry?

I think that's the point. One player is a 30 year old injury risk with 9429 miles on him, the other is a 25 year old injury risk with 3067 miles on him......

Screw Alexander, we can get Eddie George. I really hope this is some dipstick who rumaged through the stack of bad ideas and came up with this (like the trades for Shaun Rodgers).
Alexander is over the hill, if he signs with a team he will play less than 5 games before he is seriously injured or benched.

The "over the hill, washed up back" to go after would have been Dunn before Alexander.
We wont bring him in unless it is for Goal Line only.

Dude, the guy is one of the weakest backs in the league and was only good in 2003-2005 because of Steve Hutchinson. He will never take a hit, never take a pounding for those extra yards (Henry owns him in this regard). He sucks at receiving anywhere on the field and pass blocks for poo. Finally, if Shanny decided to let Cutler throw on 3rd and goal to win a game (and lets suppose we won), Alexander would complain that he wanted the ball. He is a whiny back whose days are done.
PS: I am from Seattle, if that matters.

That is my piont. Put him in a RB scheme with a good line. I didn't know that he sucked at blocking. Piont taken.
I have absolutedly nothing against signing Alexander if it is some cheap 1 year typa deal with possible incentives.
I doubt he proves more than a training camp back or decent depth at this point as the 370+ carry season (27 tds) further proved that 370 is the mark for overusing a back (T.D... Larry Johnson..... Ricky Williams (awhile ago now... 2002 i think?) ) and that the only back to be able to do it without "the curse" is Eric ****erson

are you serious?wasnt very good.you must be watching alot of nascar or something cuz you missed about 5 years of football he "was " awesome and a scoring machine ,hasnt been anything close to him in denver since T.D. retired
im not saying he could be that again but c'mon he set a new td record and had the rushing title less than 5 years ago i believe.
he would be a great role model and goal line guy he knows how to get in the endzone which is more than i can say for any backs we had last year, does 1st and goal from the 5 ending in a field goal sound familiar?

I live in Washington so I get to watch him a lot. I actually like Shaun a lot, but he is washed up. He falls to the ground to avoid getting hit, he doesnt seem to be very powerful anymore and he never was very fast. Would probably be terrible for Denver to pick him up.

i gotta tell you, thats an awesome signature. I am a huge Michigan fan and Mike Hart is definitely my favorite of all time. I would really like to see him get drafted by Denver.

LOL, exactly. Both could be had at the same price. 1 has outlived it's usefulness and is just ready to breakdown. While the other is still in good condition, he just hasn't lived up his potential.

yeah this would be bad. Alexander had a couple of good seasons. Now hes just weak and slower than a turtle.
