I think you missed a KEY addition in Robertson....but from the list I picked Royal. He's the one that will touch the ball more than any of them thus making an 'impact' from day one. Plus, our kick return game was horrendous the last couple of years.

If Dewayne Robertson was on the list he would be my pick. But since he's not I'm going to go with Niko. This could be wishful thinking but I really hope he that he does a good job for us in the middle, allowing DJ to move back to where he excels. That alone could boost our linebacker corps to be much improved from last year.

Also picking Royal. We had rotating returners last year. This year should be different with the same guy starting all year plus I think he will be an exciting player to watch.

i was torn between royal and boss, but i'm sticking with the proven player. however, i think that royal has a potential to impact much more then boss does, but we already know that boss can be a good player so, i'm going safe. although i do agree that robertson is the one.

I'd say in order of impact...
1. Hillis
2. Robertson
3. Royal
4. Clady
With a very outside, remote, slim, and nearly invisible chance of Anthony Aldridge making an impact as a Kick Returner or a scat back.
But I would love to see this at some point during the year...

If Travis Henry gets hurt (which is a huge possibility based on his history and age) then I see Torain making the biggest impact because he would be next in line to lead the Denver rushing attack. Not to mention he has the potential to take the spot from Henry at any point in the season.
Only time will tell.

Not that the other guys on your list (and not, like Robertson) can't have a big impact on our team for various reasons but Niko HAS to have the biggest impact or we're in deep shize!
We know Pears was servicable at LT; so if Clady struggles for a few games, we'll survive. We know we have other running backs; so Torian doesn't have to win the starting job in training camp. We have a boatload of OLBs if Boss struggles; and we know that DJ will handle the other side. I wouldn't be surprised if he's "suddenly" a pro-bowl WLB.
There are other guys in camp who can return; so Royal does NOT have to stress out and do anything insane. We can have someone else back there. We don't want to, certainly, but we can survive.
The one guy on that list who has to come in and take over not just his position, but the team, is our MLB. He has to blow people up. He has to inspire his teammates. He has to challenge his teammates. And he needs the world to know that if you're on the field with the Denver Broncos he's gonna rip your heart out and cook it while you watch.
If Niko doesn't do that, then we're the same mediocre defense we've been since Wilson's play started to wane.

IMO it will be Clady because he will immediately improve the production at the left tackle position, even with a learning curve.
In addition to that it will increase the competition all along the line because there will be several guys that got considerable playing time last year that will be fighting for playing time this year, and even a roster spot.
I know Hamilton was very good before he got hurt, but I am not so sure he wins the job without a lot of competition. He is still young, but he hasn't played in over a year and there will be a lot of competition.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that he, or even Nalen for that matter, are going to lose their starting jobs. I am just saying that they will be evaluated very, very closely.

I voted for Royal, but the guy I WANT to make the most impact is Clady. I maintained before the draft that if we could strenghten our O-Line enough to buy Cutler an extra 1.5-2.5 seconds on the pass plays, Cutler exponentially gets better, the receivers get better, more 2nd, 3rd options come into play, more involvement, more first downs, the passing-game-opens-up-the-running-game, the offense controls the ball longer, the defense gets more rest, the opposition gets a little more desperate, etc. etc., bla bla bla all the way home.
The chain reaction emenating from the trenches. I WANT Clady to have the most impact. (Royal will be better then, too.)

Sorry to say, but I think it's Robertson. We need a rock in the dline, someone to mentor the young ones. We just don't have enough security with the guys, not just yet. Clady will have guys to look up to on the oline, and will no doubt contribute. Royal may break a few for us. And pending Marshall's recovery, we may need a strong performance from Jackson.... but for my money DRob's the key to the D.

Actually we have more kick returners in camp than we ever have.
Royal, Aldridge, Williams, Hillis, Martinez, and Bly have all returned kicks.
The first four being rookies, and quite good at it. Royal one of the best Punt Returners in the Nation, Aldridge was 2nd leading kick returner in college football last year. Hillis pretty much did everything in college, including returning kicks. So I expect some competition at that position as well. We'll see who's moves translate to the pro-level.

dewayne robertson or boss bailey/niko. They are vets who could have very good years, generally rookies dont do well so I doubt many of them have a huge impact this year.

I think it will be Royal - On a side note: I'd say the fact that there are so many good candidates, indicates an exponential rise in talent level on this team. This will filter down to the ST and shift the field position battle more to our favor than in year's past. That, plus a weaker schedule and healthier stronger Cutler could mean 11-5 or 12-4 season

I agree with all that minus the weaker schedule part.

should have put hillis on there for many reasons. our redzone offence was horrible last year he will be the spark for the offence this year in the redzone. he can catch out of the backfield, block, and pick up those three or four yards for the touchdown that we missed so many time last year that lost many games for us. everyone is whining that we dont have a "jason elam" on the team this year. am i the only one that wants an offence that can put the ball in the endzone instead of kicking a 40 yard field goal every time we have the ball? i hope not.:fight:

Off of that list, Boss. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Jackson. And having Robertson in the tackle rotation should be pretty big.

Without a doubt- Robertson. His play will have a big impact on our linebacking corps as well.
We'll know because we won't be 30th in the league against the rush.

Idk about Robertson, we brought in Sam Adams last year to tutor our young D-Line as well and it didn't exactly turn out the way we planned.... The only one who I though was a beast of course was DOOMervil! But I can't really say anything because Moss was injured, but he's healthy and should come back and dominate this year hopefully

Sam Adams has had a VERY good career, but he was TOTALLY washed up when he came to Denver. I think this was one of Sundquists moves to help Bates. I do not think that Shanny was impressed with Adams at all. I remember many a glare downs throughout last year towards Adams from Shanny. sorry to rant there....i think the best move...... was all of them.....good economical aquistions, that if they bust, not detrimental to the team, hard working guys, and basically guys that fit the sceme, both defensively and offensively. I really believe that Shanny is doing a GREAT job so far with out Sundquist here. ...( now, if we have a loosing season....I change everything said here. ) I do beleive that a 10 win season is very realistic, providing we do not loose a game or two from our kicking game......as this may put us out of the playoffs.

I will have to trust Shanny and say Clady, to protect Jay Cutler ;) :salute:

I agree w/ the D-Jax comment. With Marhsall almost certain to draw double coverage, Jackson could get lots of throws his way - assuming he stays healthy.

I know this thread is talking about the off-season additions, but I think about Jarvis Moss also because he previously was a 1st round pick that didn't see much action last year because of a broken leg! Almost like haveing 2 first rounders starting for us this year!:P

I started to say Robertson will have the biggest impact. But the more I think about it...
I would have to say that we added more by subtraction..... and thats Bates' defensive scheme. I think we gain the most by the subtraction of Bates.
