They also have us going to the AFC Championship game:rockon: but they have us losing to Pittsburgh:sad:

29. Denver Broncos: Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
The Broncos' plan to have Niko Koutouvides start at middle linebacker went awry after Nate Webster beat him out in the preseason. Nate freakin' Webster - the same guy who has missed 41 games since 2003.
Brandon Spikes is a dominant force in the middle of Florida's defense. Unless he gets hurt, I have to believe he comes out a year early.
Pick change; previously James Laurinaitis, ILB

I'll take Spikes, the guy could be the cornerstone for our defense for years. Good size, athletic and a high effort individual.
Grab a safety in round 2 and we'll be on the right track. :salute:

No way, I would not pick Spikes. If Moore is available that late in the Draft, we pick him there. Then trade up in the second or stay put and draft Spikes or McKillop. A top-notch saftey like Moore should not be passed up, something we have lacked for a long time.

After today's game and the UT game, Spikes is too slow imo.

I like the idea of drafting Curry and seeing if he can make the switch to MLB similar to Demeco Ryans. And if he can't he still might be an upgrade over Boss.

Good, the more these media sources have us taking Spikes, the less likely it is to happen.
The guy is over-rated, just like 90% of the other Gators that come into the NFL...
Jarvis Moss anyone?
Enough of these Gators until proven otherwise.
BTW, nice choke job against Ole Miss yesterday, Urban.
Kudos:salute:

Spikes is one of the best LB's in college football, the best MLB in my opinion. I'd be ecstatic if we get him.

i say we still go with a DE or DT...game 4...still no pass rush

This is a weak mike linebacker class...we need a Romo type leader with intensity and a mean streak. There is a certain USC linebacker that comes to mind, but I do not think we have a shot. Now the defensive end spot will be deep, and if we can nab a round one end that in most drafts would be top 20, then Shanahan should jump on it. Moss is a bust, as are most Gators that taste the professional level...let them rot somewhere other then here!

Please no Gaytors, Jarvis Moss is officially a bust, I have never seen him make a good play or not get beat by the person he is being blocked by. I hate the Gaytors, and he reminds me of Brandon Siler who left early and was a 7th round pick. NO!!
I like Spikes and would not mind that pick. I like Cush though and that would be a tough decision between those two. I agree with the selection of Spikes and is more of a leader and better for Broncos over Cush. If a team was in this same scenerio with needs at both OLB and ILB they would go with Cush over Spikes IMO.
I like the Chung selection in second.
I really do not see Fili Moala dropping that far
* That draft would be awsome through 3rd round!

WOW  . .. almost every "expert" disagrees with you. MLB is the deepest position in the draft by alot. Furthermore we need need need a MLB. Remember when the Broncos had a dominate MLB even when the Dline sucked the defense was pretty good. MLB change the complexion of the entire defense. Draft a MLB in the 1st unless there is a cant miss talent.

What mike linebacker are you talking about??? Seriously, Denver has had few dominant middle linebackers. Wilson was the best mike we have had during Shanahan's tenure. During our Super Bowl years the spot was held by two journeymen players in Aldridge and then Cadrez, while our outside linebackers were far more dominant in Romo and Mobley. The best middle linebackers in this years class will be gone by the time we pick and Spikes is far from dominant, that kid will likely be the next Jarvis Moss...which means we are likely to take him anyways...lol.

Spikes is a dominant MLB in the toughest conference in the land. Fact. He is the best player on their defense - fact.
And Florida has produced some great NFL players, so anybody arguing from that standpoint can be dismissed as ridiculous. You can't compare him to Jarvis Moss either because they don't even play the same position. At least come up with a valid argument if you're going to bash.

I agree with you.
I think the Broncos are more likely to address MLB in free agency or in the third or fourth round...
I personally am intruigued by Clay Matthews from USC. He is the type of smart, versatile player that will translate well to the NFL and could probably play the middle.
Oh, and...
NO MORE GATORS!!!

He's a Tennessee Vols fan. But that's no reason to dismiss the fact that Florida has produced a lot of NFL talent and will continue to be an NFL factory.
