Well here we go, 3 weeks into this season and I cant resist the urge to put up my own mock draft. Hope you like it.
1. William Moore S, Missouri- Count me in on this guy's Bandwagon. A huge impact Safety who will fill the need of playmaker we have so desperatley lacked at the position. Fast enough to cover the deep middle and tough enough to stop the run. Lets just hope he's there at pick 32 ;)
2. Terrance Taylor DT, Michigan- I was tempted to go LB here but I figured if we got a run stuffing DT here, he might make more of an impact than the LB available. Taylor doesnt get to the QB often but he's a force at stopping the run. At 6'0 317, he has huge girth and tons of leverage.
3. Dannell Ellerbe LB, Georgia- Finally we go ILB with Ellerbe. At 6'1 232 he doesnt have the size you might want but he's athletic and a very good tackler. He had 12 tackles for a loss in 2007. We need someone in the middle and if we dont get Laurenitas or Maulegala, Ellerbe would be a nice option B. He's projected to go either round 2 or 3 so we have to hope he slides.
4. Devin Moore RB, Wyoming- Hear me out on this, even if Torain is everything we hope for, we should definatley give Moore a look. He has absolutely blazing speed, runs in the low 4.3's, and Speed is something we have lacked in the backfield recently. The ultimate change of pace back. If he's around in the 4th, we should jump all over him.
4b(From Seattle, based on playing time for Colbert, could be a 5th). A.Q Shipley C, Penn State- I almost went Safety here again, but with it looking like Nalen is almost done and Weigmann far from youthful, I think we draft our center right here. If you want consistency you got it here, Shipley has started every game the past 2 seasons and was named to the All Big Ten first team.
5. Mitch King DE, Iowa- Had 4.5 sacks last year and looks to be a safe pick in round 5. I take him as a flyer and see if he pans out, he has the bulk to be solid against the run and we should look to get some depth at DE as I doubt we keep both Ekuban and Engleberger past this year.
6. Jordan Norwood WR, Penn State- At 5-11 178, it looks like his size will prevent him from going alot higher. This shouldnt bother us. Look at Royal. Same height and in this offense were running, any receiver can be productive. Lets start stocking up on receivers, look at GB right now, they are loaded with a bunch of receivers, who by the way arent very tall, that make it difficult for defenses and easier for their QB.
6b. (From Atlanta, assuming they resign Foxy, if not, this is a 7th) Augustus Parrish OT, Kent State- At 6'6 310, he has impressive size and is very quick despite of this. A very good run blocker. Like I say, you can never have enough depth, especially at OL. If either of our OT go down, we need to have someone who, down the road, can step in and allow the offense not to miss a beat.
And Im assuming we have to give NY a 7th for Robertson.
Apologies if I didnt get our selection rounds correct, there hard to keep track of. I believe Holland was traded for a 2010 pick.
Well to recap,
We get a Playmaking safety, a run stuffing DT, a solid MLB, and a lightening quick RB. The rest of them go into depth and hope they pan out.
Hope you enjoyed that, tell me what you think, Ill have plenty more before next April :salute:
