Most of you will probably not change your minds but maybe this game opened some eyes to see that we need DE and DT in the 1st and 2nd rounds in the draft. no pressure and no stops when we needed them.

Signing Haynesworth will make the Defense a whole lot better. Titans can't franchise him.

if we go after a DE or DT first we just wasted our draft pick. We r gonna have to go after a DE or DT in FA. A lot of people r saying albert but i say we go after Peppers. albert is a great run stopper but so is Peppers plus peppers is a lot better at getting at the Qb. Pepperscreates more big plays too. Which lets us go for a Lb james launiatis or a safety like moore first round.

Although I would be happy with D line, after today (well actually I've felt this way the whole season) I want a safety. It's painful watching Manuel back there. But I know there's a lot of depth at safety, so if we don't go safety first round, we better do it in the 2nd.
But yes, you are right. Absolutely NO pressure on Russell. Although he only threw a dozen passes or so.

Adam Schefter reported already Carolina is going to Franchise Peppers.
Haynesworth is the next best thing. Suggs is a possibility too, but just don't know about him.
A DL in the 2nd would be a wasted pick, we have plenty of mediocre players and they would be lost behind the depth chart, look at Crowder.
A safety and CB in the first 2 rounds would make a huge positive impact on our defense.

It should be more about the players available rather than the positions that need to be upgraded. There are a lot of needs, but they can addressed them all or most of them just by taking the BPA relative to a need position, just like they did in the last draft. We're not there yet, but we will be. Another solid draft and an impact FA like Haynesworth would probably do the trick.

BJ Raji is most likely a 2nd rounder so far, would you consider him a wasted pick? He is one of the most dominate players on the interior line this year. In the BC game this weekend they didn't even run at him. Granted I only watched one half but in that half, they ran to his side once. He was also pushing the guard into the backfield and still making plays on the ball.

I highly doubt we can touch Haynesworth, not that I mind...but we cut Henry and that is costing us still, we are overpaying Bly, we are paying for Dwayne Robertson and top it off Marshall is due a contract soon along with Kuper, Hamilton, Dumervil and others...I am not sure we will have that girth in the cap to really bring him. And we all know Denver does not shop at the Free Agent Zales, more like the Free Agent Big Lots...lmfao.

I saw that too. But what impressed me more was Peria Jerry from Ole Miss. I watched him play agains LSU and he looked damn good. I would like to have a DT with his abilities. Not sure if he is 1st round material or not, but I would like him in a Bronco uniform

Yep, he is looking good too and is prob 1st or 2nd rounder easy. I would rather have BJ tho cause Peria is still only 295 and I think we need more bulk up front. Raji is 325

I'll tell you what we need after watching this game...
double sided tape on our WR's hands!

We really just need to bite the bullet and get a franchise running back. Spend a 1st or 2nd rounder and be set. We have our QB, we have a great running system in place that makes less talented players look amazing.
Jay Cutler needs a solid and consistent run game. Running back by committee or a 1 man work horse, doesn't matter to me which one. However we do need need 1 non injury prone young RB that has franchise RB talent. Shonn Greene or Moreno would be the two guys I'd really like to see our FO go after.
Hillis is a pretty nice short yardage back or somebody to dump the ball off to, but is no solid home run hitter.
After that we need
2 starting safetys
more depth at LDE and DT
I really think that we can pick up a solid depth corner in FA next year.
I really like what I'm seeing out of our linebackers, Larsen should only get better. He won't be anything special on passing downs but our run defense seems much improved with him and woodyard on the field.

A DE/DT won't solve anything. It'll make the defense look more horrid because we chose to put a rookie in there. Then the fans will continue to ***** about how the pick is a bust within the player's 1st year after playing only 6 games.
What Denver needs, aren't position players. They need talented, they have a lot of it right now. But the need better talent at the DB positions, the LB positions and RB. The ideal situation would be to draft a big playmaker at defense in the 1st round. But if Shanahan sees a Chris Wells still on the board by pick 20, he'll more than pull trigger to get him. As I see Denver Picking in the 20 range.
Don't expect for a great looking overall draft, but a solid fundamental draft of players with great talent and great personalities. Much like the '08 draft.

You are absolutely right. In fact, Shannahan has even said that himself in the last year. They are going away from drafting for specific positions only and drafting according to what is the best available talent. I think we would all agree that it worked really well for us in the last draft.
I am sure Shannahan is already thinking alot about how to fill the holes on the defensive side of the ball in the offseason.
The only way I see Denver spending one of the first two picks on a rb is if an absolute stud falls into the second round.
Also, I haven't really watched Lauranitas. Can someone tell me if he would just be another over-hyped Big 10 LB that doesn't have the athleticism to translate his college success into the NFL. Unless Spikes is availabe in the late teens I really hope Denver does not draft an ILB with its first pick.

I was talking about what the Broncos need today at work. I have been saying all season we need DL, and a Safety. The more I thought about it, if we went with a stud RB in the 1st I would not be upset. A good to great running game is a QBs best friend. I salivated over the thought of Knowshon or Beanie playing for us. I doubt Knowshon would be there, but damn, it got me excited. And I had been against drafting a RB in the 1st.....up until now

I love Greene but I think we should get a smaller quicker back.

Allen Aldridge I believe is being counted on as that smaller quicker back for next year.

His name is Anthony Alridge and he might not make the team next year.

Safety is the biggest need....you could see it with the missed tackles, the PI on Marquand Manuel, and Zach Miller killing us.
We sign a big FA DE or DT and use our first rounder on a safety....Taylor Mays  Then get Javon Ringer in the 2nd or 3rd

Raiders ran for 118 yards in the second half when we knew they would to run out the clock with a big lead. They are last in the league on 3rd down percentage yet had 2 70 yard drives for scores. That is not due to safeties...that is defensive line. Safety is our weakness player but not our biggest need. As I keep saying a stud safety won't change anything if the Dline doesn't vastly improve. The broncos are 22nd in the league for sacks...no pressure on the QB and are 9 in the league for tackles. You may say 9th, that's pretty good but no, you would be wrong. We are 9th because we can never stop the other teams so they have long drives which allows us many opportunities to make tackles. Once again...defensive line.
