I know almost all of you will disagree with me on what im about to say. Most of you want to get a SAfety in the first round, but i just watched a highlight tape on the DE Michael Johnson and i couldnt have been more impressed. Before watching him play, his body frame will amaze you. 6'7" 260lbs and is pure muscle. Watching tape on this man has convinced me he is going to be one of the steals in the draft. epsn has him ranked in the 20's which i think he will be picked before that. this man has the speed the strength and can stop the run. The safeties in this draft are not that impressive to me. Moore has no football IQ. May's can be alright in the nfl but not sold on this man. The only safety I liked in the draft was Rolle but found out he isnt entering the draft because of becoming a Rhodes SCholar. The biggest problem i believe we have on defense is not being able to apply the pressure on the Qb. We give the Qb way to much time and we cant stop the run to save our lifes. Fixing this is a lot more important then our safety problem. It can actually help our safeties out too by forcing the Qb to release the ball alot sooner then he wanted too.

KNow ive read in many threads about picking up peppers in the offseason. I am one of these people that think we should go after him too. Johnson and Peppers will be dominate in my opinion. And we all know dumervil is not an every down DE so i believe we mix him in with Johnson the first year and if Johnson isnt a bust we let Dumervil go unless we can get him back cheap.

I have no problem with Michael Johnson, I actually prefer him over Orakpo but
Okam has the size advantage right now and that is big to me when looking for
a future franchise DE. But I would like to know why Moore has a low football
IQ. I think it's actually pretty high seeming since last year when he took over
for Pig Brown he has been the Captain of the defense.

It's a mistake to think he could come in instantly and make a difference. It just doesn't happen, even Mario Williams was not much of a factor his rookie year. We have a similar guy in Jarvis Moss who will be entering his 3rd year, and while it may not seem like it now, he could potentially become the player we had hoped for.

Basically you draft Michael Johnson with the expectation that he will take a couple years to produce. If the Broncos feel like that's worth it, then I guess they could take him.

A great safety or MLB can drastically change a defense. A great safety can change the run defense to a large degree. My first pick would be spent on one of the 2 top middle linebackers. I am hoping Barrett will be one of the safeties. I would spend this entire draft on MLB, safety and DT. Maybe a center or guard in the later rounds. Picking up an experienced safety would be a priority too. I still wonder if laresen will win the starting MLB job soon and be the answer. But an impact MLB would make a huge difference to fill Al wilsons shoes.
