Sproles is not an everydown back. I'll pass on sproles

I like the poster's idea... this would be excellent IF SD doesn't resign him. They will.
But I watched him in college (k-state... I'm a big 12 TTU alum myself) and he is a game changer. Yes he isn't a everydown back... but the earth, wind, fire analogy is spot on.
Plus our special teams need crazy help... he'd bring that.

I agree with Ravage, Sproles is not a every down back hes to small to carry the ball 20-25 times a game and take the pounding from big lineman. Ill also pass on him.

We need defense before we even think about RB.

Defense is our problem... but we had ZERO running game this year... It's frustrating because we can't move the clock and our defense is trash...
You need a decent RB mix in this NFL and Sproles will bring that.
I'm watching ths SD game right now and he seems to be doing a pretty good job on the offense.
He's never had any injuries and has proven that he can play in this league.
Think special teams... not just offense. He's a good choice because we already know we need help on defense... but we should dump a lot of people eating up salaries and cap and some of them are on offense.
He's a good choice because he's an upgrade on offense and you could line him up in the passing game too. He has fantastic hands.

We were 12th in rushing, and tied for 2nd in rushing average per carry....

yep...and he'll want some money so he'll be kinda expensive for such a back

We wouldn't get him as an everydown back.... we'd get him as a kick/punt returner and finally a big play threat from the RB position.
He did just fumble though... :P

How about we save our early round picks, and actually all of our picks for the guy in my sig instead.
Smaller, stronger, cheaper- Better!

You guys must be crazy........I would take Sproles in a heartbeat.
But SD would have to be out of their mind not to resign him.....
I hate the guy, mostly cause he is so damm fast.

Thank you for the correction... I was implying the consistency part.
It's easy to have "decent stats" in the running game when teams are up 25+ points on us and voila! we start running the ball and it's "effective". It's a trash stat because teams are OK with us running at that point because the clock works against us.
Sign the kid because he is a playmaker and is about to carry 20+ times in the playoffs. other than his fumble he's made good plays and is a beast in Special Teams wich we need desperately.

You guys still wanna not sign him?
Like I said before, I'm all for it.

Sproles is just the latest flavor of the month. He is an undersized, overachieving scatback in a contract year, knowing full well that his main competition is an oft-injured has been in LT. Some team WILL overpay to get him to return a few kicks and be a 3rd down back. Dont we have enough of these specialty backs already? Can't Addridge or (God forbid) Tater do this? Out of all of FA picks, is this they guy we really want? I think not. Take Vilma, Peterson, or Mr. unpronounceable from Oakland, then pick up a real running back in the draft along with a ton of defensive picks.

"Can't Alridge or Tater do this?"
If you have to ask that question, you really need to take up a different sport, because that is one of the most moronic questions ever asked on this board.
Darren Sproles is a unique player with special qualities that you can't just assume you can get from a scrub like Alridge.
This isn't Madden, pal.

You really need to get off this wells thing man. He'll be gone long before the Broncos decide to draft a back (if they do)
Then again maybe we get a retard as a GM who drafts something we don't need with an early pick and you get who you want :P
@ OP - I hope Torain is gone this off-season, the guy is injury prone. I don't want him to open a running back injury flood gate again next year

sproles is a luxury player, you dont shell out money for those guys until you have a good offense and defense in place
