Everything I've seen on Rotoworld, ESPN, PFT/Sporting News, random reporter in San Francisco is that he has agreed to terms...but they never say he's signed the deal?

Anyone have confirmation on that?

We all could be getting excited about nothing...

Dont count on it yet. Im not gonna really believe it till a more reliable source reports it.

No Dawkins is not official.

Renaldo Hill is official.

Dawkins was on his way to speak with the Broncos, not in Denver to sign a contract.

I saw on ESPNEWS that Brian Dawkins agrees to terms. It was on the bottomline. I don't know if that's considered official or not.

Schefter said that the Broncos and Dawkins were in talks. He did not say the deal was done, though...This was ten minutes ago on NFLN...

Shefter is the the man! He just said renaldo hill and Gafney are offical. Dawkins is talking to denver and he's talking to philly. so I'm just gonna keep my pants on till I get official word lol.

Again, all that says is he has AGREED to the two year deal...he hasn't signed yet.

Now that he has his "market value" he's probably talking to Philly now to see if they want to counter/match the proposal.

We need something showing us that he has signed a contract.

I still highly doubt he will be a bronco. Philly wont let him leave, they can't he's like the ray lewis of the eagles.

For real though when has ESPN ever been wrong? Oh wait not too long ago! Seriously it's not official and if philly matches our offer which they most likely will, he goes back to them.

Why would we sign hill and him? Makes no sense.

I agree that i still see him going back to philly in the end. But we would sign both bc cant win with one saftey haha. You can argue Barrett but at the moment all he is, is just athletic garbage. He could develop but right now he is just garbage.

The initial reports were just explaining the two sides agreed to the terms of the contract. It was not saying that the player has agreed to play for the team.

Ok...this is from the same San Francisco writer (he covers the Raiders...so that's why he's reporting on the story), but he's added to his report:

Get used to dealing with hard-hitting safety Brian Dawkins twice a year: he just agreed to a deal with the Broncos, a league source told The Chronicle, bringing some muscle and old-school attitude to the mostly athletic and finesse-minded AFC West.

A press conference is coming Saturday to introduce Dawkins, the source said.

The perrenial Pro Bowler is 35 but should have another year or two in the tank. He's the sort of tough and on-target safety the Raiders have been missing for years. As it turns out, they won't have a chance of signing him now.

Earlier today, I listed Dawkins as the best available safety for the Raiders to sign. From Derrick Gibson to Michael Huff and Gibril Wilson, they have gone years without a run-stopping force back there -- and that's the biggest reason their run defense has been so bad for so long.

Huff is still too small to be that type of strong safety, so moving him back to his first NFL position won't help. Tyvon Branch is tough enough to play with a cast on his wrist, but also lacks the desired size and needs time to grow and develop.

Dawkins would have brought the sort of leadership and toughness the Raiders defense needs. We'll see what they do now.

dawkins is an ok get, but im more happy about jj. i think he will do good behind our line. i think gafney will be ok as well. were is he going to fit though we have marshall on one side and royal on the other, unless they split time in the slot with stokley.:helmet:

I heard it on espn like i said, I can't post a link off audio/video.... and now the latest is Dawkins is giving philly a chance to counter... Philly declined to comment at the moment. so...we'll see..

you said that he SIGNED the 2-year deal...if he signed a deal that's it. that's the end of it...he can't give philly a chance to counter.

if he agreed to terms...then philly can still match/counter.

The problem is more with sites like KFFL that are using "signing" language. It is easy for someone to read that and get confused since it is not being reported accurately.
