Steinbrenner might make the list of the top-ten best owners in sports, but that's about it.

steinbrenner is easily the greediest owner in sports anyone who says otherwise is a dope

How is he the greediest? He's SPENDING his money, not keeping it

He's greedy cause he SPENDS his money on his team and he spends his money so he can WIN championships

Last I checked that was the point but hey I may be wrong, its happened once or twice before

And if you go to that site ozzy posted and look at the number of letters they received from people, Steinbrenner was number one.

There is something wrong with people calling Steinbrenner greedy because he wants to win...you play the game to win.

Don't get me wrong. It is smart business. It is just unfair that the Yankees have so much money and are always able to buy the best stars and block other teams (like the Red Sox) from getting good people.

Maybe there should be a salary cap...

But why is it unfair for the yankees to have this money? It is money that others give to them...it's not as if it's stolen....the fans show up consistently and always fill up the stadium. They might be the most popular sports franchise in the world...thus they have the biggest revenue...Steinbrenner could just as easily keep that money for himself...then he would be greedy...just like Selig, Carl Pohlad, etc.

That is why I think there should be a salary cap. Make it less about how much money you have to spend on players and more about strategy.

That's fair enough...if you want to blame anybody, blame the system...not steinbrenner. The league as a whole voted against such things, not just steinbrenner.

if he wants to buy a winning franchise he should by the marlins.

Strategy??? Really? Well why not make all baseball teams configure the fields so they're all the same? Why not add or get rid of the DH? IMO those are the questions the league should address first.

I have to give you that. If the league doesn't want a salary cap, and somebody takes advantage of the lack of one to buy a winning team, that is just smart business. People may not like it, but you have to admit that it is smart. I just don't like the Yankees, so I have to complain. :D

Red Sux are only second to the Yankees so thats total BS - George doesnt block anyone - Red Sux could have forked over the money for ARod but didnt want to - their choice - and as far as George being number 1 on the list - he didnt even make the list the professionals composed he made #1 on the fan list because of disgruntled Sux fans like yourself :D - I guaran-ass-tee you no Yankee fan voted him a greedy owner

im a sox fan to but that salary cap argument is old.simply because of the Atlanta Braves. they've won 12 straight division titles with about half the payroll.

I guarentee if the Orioles were playing well, you'd be interested.
Instead, they sign big-time free agents like Miguel Tejada, Javy Lopez, and Raffy Palmiero and they can't even beat the Devil Rays in the standings:laugh:
