I keep reading reports that LB Aron Curry's stock may be dropping a little but he is expected to still be a 1st round pick.
The reasoning behind this from what I've read is his lack of pass rushing ability and the fact that he is projected as a SAM backer in the 4-3 and an ILB in the 3-4. The problem with this is while still an elite prospect that will improve a defense dramatically, there just is not a high enough premium on these positions for whatever reason.
It sounds crazy I know, because no matter what position he projects to, he should be a lock to be a top 5 pick and is easily the best defensive player in this draft. But here's to hoping a couple of teams are just stupid enough to pass on him.
Say he falls to 6 or 8. We should definately trade up to nab him. If he falls to Jax at 8 we could probably get by with giving away 12 and a 3rd rounder to move up. Either way, we should make the move for him if he falls out of the top 5.
Then my dream day 1 would look like this;
1. (probable move-up) LB Aaron Curry Wake Forest
1. (18) DE Robert Ayers Tennessee
2. (48) NT Ron Brace Boston College
We get Curry to man the middle with DJ, yeah, try running on that. Ayers who I'm not real sure if he is a DE in the 3-4 or an OLB, either way we can find a spot for a player like him. Then Brace who I think projects as a better NT than Raji.
Front 7 = FIXED!!!
