View Full Version : Yasinkas and BW: Peppers Still a Possibility

Yasinkas has "guessed" that Denver might/will target Julius Peppers with a first round pick, and based on value another first day pick may be needed. BW called it a possibly great trade.

I just changed my mock draft after this news: Yasinkas knows his Panthers stuff.

What do you think are the chances? How would our other picks shake up?

I would trade #18 for Peppers straight up, no extra 1st day pick though. There shouldn't be any doubt he can be an effective 3-4 OLB considering his athleticism and proven pass-rush ability.

"Arthur (Charlotte): OK, your time is almost up: Time for your absolutely shot in the dark best guess on what will happen with Peppers: Will he be traded pre- or during the draft? Where will he go? Don't be scared, it's just a guess. We won't hold you to it.

Pat Yasinskas: (1:54 PM ET ) All right -- like you said -- just a guess. I'll say it happens during the draft. I'll say Denver. We'll see. "

"Colten (South Dakota): Hey Bill, how are things. So Pat Yasinskas say's his guess is there is a Peppers trade to the Broncos during the draft. I would be fine with with is we get Peppers with our #18 pick and then take Maualuga with our #12 pick. What do you think? I think we need to grab at least one of the USC linebackers that are available. Why don't the Broncos seem to be more interested in them?

Bill Williamson: (2:05 PM ET ) I need to catch up with Pat on that one. I think that would be a great, great trade for Denver."

Julius Peppers>>>>>>>>>>> Any Hybrid in the Draft.

Only reason for concern would be his salary. We would probably have to make him the highest paid pass rusher in the league.

If we got a NT with our 12 I Wouldn't mind.

I hear you on the issue of a big contract... McD's Pats didnt shy away from a big contract with Adalius Thomas though. Would we have to cut some people like Moss or Crowder?

I'd rather keep the 1st round pick. He's 29 and would likely get a 4-6 year deal and be one of the highest paid players in the league. At most he'll be able to play at his current level for 2-3 more years.

So when you consider cost and age i just dont think its worth it, i'd rather take the BPA at 18.

More like Boss Bailey, Mario Haggan and if we draft a QB in the later rounds possibley Simms not to mention about over half our running backs will be cut so i think there is plenty of room for Peppers and if Mcdaniels talks it over with Champ mayb he cut could take a slight pay cut

Even if we do draft a QB we wont cut Simms. Champ took a pay cut a year or two ago...he wont take another one.

Den615 It depends on if we do draft a player high or low. A first round QB puts pressure on a coach to start him and keep him on the roster. There are a handful of times where there are 3 QB's on the active roster but it rarely happens. If we draft a mid or late round QB there is less fear about placing them on the training roster without another team trying to scoop them up.

If we get say a Bomar or Harrell we might see them develop off the active roster for 1 or 2 years and then placed on the active list like most times you get a later round QB.

I had trading our 18 for Peppers in one of my mocks. I think his production would be greater than anyone we could get at 18 so it makes perfect sense to me. Sign him to 3-4 year deal after trading for him. And possibly trading up with our 12 to 8 and getting either Sanchez or Raji. That would be a perfect 1st round in my eyes. . .

I think this is a real possibility... if our 18th pick is enough to do it, then this should be automatic, despite the contract issues that arise.

This just makes sense...maybe too much but it just fits.

Yasinkas is the Adam Shefter of the Panthers...

How do spell immediate impact.......P-e-p-p-e-r-s......

Yes he is very seasoned, but if we could get him, he's much better than anyone else we will be able to choose. He's more than proven and will be a force for at least a few years.

The contract maybe handled with some creativity, and that's what the smart dudes do.

But if we can get him at #18, I'm game. Maybe we can land him with a 2 and other picks or players.

Still leaves alot of quality picks left, and maybe even throw in one offensive stud along with all the d selections.

I agree entirely... especially with the draft buzz around these hybrid OLB/DE players, there are some real question marks. I mean, other than Curry, who is regarded as an elite top tier player? An impact player ready from the git go?

Peppers provides that immediate impact. Imagine him with Maualuga and Dawkins and DJ and Champ. My goodness, that sounds like the new Ravens to me...

If I were the Broncs FO this would be a done deal.
