Knowshon Moreno was ranked 15th best player out of 2534 players.

Robert Ayers was ranked 33rd best player.

Alfonzo Smith was ranked 34th best player

Darcel McBath was ranked 106th best player

Richard Quinn was ranked 85th best player

So looking at it Darcel McBath was probably the Worst Pick. I like him in the 3rd Round.

I would have rather had Sean Smith or Lawerence Sidbury instead.

But overall it isn't as bad as I had thought!!!!

I mean ya I guess McBath isn't quite a Michael Mitchell, but we'll try to make do with him. I wish we had traded up earlier to get Heyward-Bey.

I think the Reality is that all we have heard is that Denver is going to fix it's Front 7 and that the secondary was pretty set.

Then Denver trades a 2010 1st Round Pick for a CB and then drafts a Safety???? If one of those picks were Front 7 I think that it would have been fine.

Why on earth would you assume a draft website would know more than a franchise with an actual scouting department.

Ultimately we'll know if these players were good picks, not because some website says so, but because they play well or they won't.

Of course, this involves you assuming that those outside the organization know what our needs are better than those within it.

Well there is good news for Day 2 of the draft...
Lawrence Sidbury, Jr.(DE)-Richmond

We have to trade up to the 3rd round possibly to get him.
I really really doubt he'll last past the mid-3rd round.
We have two 4th round picks, so we could use those to get up there.
But is Sidbury worth it?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Denver Post suggests that Robert Ayers will most likely play OLB.

Then we need to draft a NT - Dorrell Scott , Chris Baker , Khaliff Mitchell , Sammie Lee Hill.

So if Ayers is really a OLB then it does make some sense.

the secondary was not set.

you have champ who is good and an old dawkins.
Andre Goodman and Renaldo hill are decent starters but they arent anything sepcial.
Behind those guys all you have is Josh Barrett, Jack Williams, and Josh Bell and a couple of other nobody's like Vernon Fox and Rashod Moulton.

Fact is we needed secondary just as much as front 7.
we have something like 6 picks left on the 2nd day that can be used on good front 7 players.

I also have a feeling we could still trade scheffler for a third possibly today since we did just draft one that fits McDaniels mold more than scheffler so we hopefully use that to upgrade our front 7

It's obvious the ability to make turnovers is weighing heavily on the Broncos mind. I can see the reasoning behind the Smith and McBath picks because they not only represent an area in which we are thin, but also they bring us a great nickle duo in the near future. I think McBath is going to really surprise some people in his career. He's had the rare ability to see elite offenses in the Big 12, with a horrible D surrounding hm, and still put up great numbers.

I love the Moreno and Ayers picks. Moreno not only represents a guy who can do it all on the field, but a class-act, leader that we can now rely upon for many years. Getting Moreno basically axes our redzone deficiencies last year because he has one of the most impressive noses for the endzone. As far as Ayers, I got to believe that he reminded McDaniels of the guy that he reminds me of, Adalius Thomas. They both play at about the same size (Ayers: 6'3" 273, Thomas: 6'2" 270) and they both have that rare ability to come inside on the interior D-line to rush, and also play standing up.

The 2 picks that confused me the most are the obvious ones. While I believe they will be great players for us in the end, giving up the amount of picks and their value was just perplexing. I was expecting either Butler or Maualuga after the trade, but I can understand the pick because of the ability to put Smith in the nickle and let him make plays as that slot-CB. Quinn is basically a younger Daniel Graham, whom is only getting better. He could very well be a great all-around guy, and had he not been surrounded by 3 great WR's and a horrible OL (forcing him to stay in and protect), he might be considered as another Brandon Pettigrew.

Overall, with some confusion aside, I am really happy with how this draft is going. Sure, I would change some things, but the most important thing is to be able to find reasoning behind the picks and each pick does resolve one problem or another.

It has been said a lot that the Dline prospects in this draft suck whereas the DBack prospects are actually quite deep. The Broncos got the best value at areas of need! I also think they gave up a little much and some of the options were picked early but I am not the expert!
