Official Game Day Thread: Week 1 2009 Broncos vs Bengals

Ok, here it is 5th year running - The official Game Day thread.

Every week of the season I will set up and Moderate the Game day thread. During game time I will be actively watching and posting. Thank you Direct TV.
I will not be the only mod here, as game day usually finds several of us active all over the board.

Here we are week one. We have had a crazy and highly controversial off season. We are a team looking to find itself. We were missing some potent weapons during the preseason. Here is hoping they make their presence know during tomorrows game, vs the Bengals.

Denver has won 10 of it's last 14 openers and won 5 of 7 vs the Bengals.
Of course that was under the old regime. Last wo times vs the Bengals.
We won at Home of Christmas Eve 2006 when the Bengals missed the extra point at the end of the game in the snow. The last time we played them at home was in 2004, A primetime game for the Bengals. It was there first in many years and they came out pumped and trashed the Broncos.

Anything can happen to morrow Ocho Cinco and Brandon Marshall on the field. Two explosive receivers. I am hoping we start the season with a win. We have a tough schedule ahead of us this year.

Win lose or draw we expect all members to follow the COC. If you see a questionable post please report it so we may follow up. Don't get involved in flame wars, and please watchout for making duplicate threads during game day. Every bad play we make results in 7 "fire so & so" threads.

With that said, let's kick this off. Hoping for a good game and a Win! Makes my Sundays easier. GO BRONCOS :helmet::orton:

That kind of sucks, considering that his injury was supposed to be a 2 week recovery. Either he's slow at recovering, or it was more serious than initially reported.

Fortunately we have two good running backs to somewhat fill the void in Buckhalter and Hillis.

Jordan looked really good in years past. Hopefully he can recover some of that nast attitude that he use to have between the tackles.

A great deal of people are predicting a close win or loss for us, ie 24-20, but I don't think that will be the case.

37-10 Denver.

I see Dumervil, Haggan, Holliday, and McBean each having at least one sack.

I don't think Palmer will be able to get into a groove, and when was the last time Benson had a groove to get into?

I believe we win big, but the actual game looks like a bigger thrashing than the score depicts.



And the next day on NFLTA, Dukes will pronounce that we were secretly his sleeper team.

I'm so pumped about this game you can't imagine. I can't even sleep I'm so excited. I can't wait to wake up early, shower, put on all my Denver equipment, hang my Denver flag off my apartment balcony, and commit 3-4 hours of my day to watching us smack around the Bengals.

I'm so pumped about this you have no idea. If Denver loses I'm gonna be curled up in the fetal position for the next 3-4 days, but if they win there's nothing out there that can bring me down for at least a week. I'm so ready for this opening season it's ridiculous.

First of all great to see all the Denver Fans again this year! I probabally won't be on here as constant as I was last year since I moved back to Denver!!!!

But I do think that this is going to be a start for great things to come! Defense needs to come out hot and stop the run and make them one dimensional in the passing game and allow this 3-4 to shine.

And we went all out to make this secondary very potent and this LB corps is very Deep and we have alot of pressure on this D-Line from alot of folks look for them to apply pressure all day forcing Palmer to make mistakes and confuse thier O-Line with various rushers.

Offense! What can I say the explosiveness will return and their will be no more questions as to why we went the Direction we did this year! TE's will be a major factor today, Look for Sheffler and Grahmn to have a big day in receptions and key blocks!

Can't wait for today. I'm most looking forward to seeing how our team responds to all the criticism and adversity. If they get down, will they cave, or will the battle back? I hope Dawkins can get this group fired up. My ideal start to the season would be Bengals get the ball to start the game, and Palmer throws a pick. Would make me feel pretty good about our season's chances if we can pull out a solid win today. The Bengals are a tough team, so our team should expect a battle out there.

Atlanta got a major boost from Ryan, too. That was a heck of a pick-up!

I would love it if Dumervil had a great game today. That means everyone is excuting at a high level.

A lot of improvement on the secondary, which helps the line. And I think Elvis has made the transistion to the 34 very well. This pre-season is the best I've ever seen him play.

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals

Broncos: The status of starting QB Kyle Orton (right index finger-questionable) and rookie RB Knowshon Moreno (knee-questionable). The indication was late this week that Orton looked good enough in practice over the course of the three days to be able to start today against the Bengals. Moreno practiced some each day this week and is on target to play. However, it's not known how many carries he'll see.

Nothing yet on the Bengals.

Been lurking around this off season, biting my tongue at the over zealously good and bad rants. In either case, wanted to chip in before I head off to go watch the game. Go Broncs!

Its a tougher game than I think a lot of people would give it credit for being given who dey's past. The Bengals O line should be easier than what we've seen in preseason, so I like our D lines chance of creating some disruption if they have improved, but their D is pretty good as well and nobody knows how explosive our O will be.

Here's to us starting off the season on a good foot, and in a positive on the +/- on turnovers. And most importantly, just win.

I'm really excited to see how Dawkins turns into the Wolverine on the field and takes over :-) I hope Knowshown plays more than just a few carries.
