View Full Version : ESPN2K5: How do you run the rock?
Just curious how you guys run the ball. I used to use the shoulder charge and speed alot, then switched from GH to Q and started to use the jukes and speed.
I then switched to all pro and found I cannot run half as good as I could.
Do you guys notice any special way to run effectively?

Q on the single back sets with the tosses and zone runs, Mike anderson with droughns as the fullback in the two back sets, Mike can really get it done running inside and up the gut, shoulder charge works best with him . I use hearst in empty back field formations that use a running back on the line as a fifth wr, he has the best hands and in the open field he can juke or shoulder charge as good as anybody. Poor Bell gets no time playing for me except as a kick returner, he is faster then Q [with less agility] but just like in college, he loses the ball alot in the pile, his holding on to the ball raiting sux for running the ball, but i havent had him fumble at all as a kick returner...weird! Maybe they will juice him up when the xbox update comes out monday!!!

I get about 200 or more yards rushing and at least 300 yards passing a game. How real is that? It takes me a whole game with Madden NFL 2005 to gain a 100 yards.

dude that's the same with every football game..there's a loopholes in every game that you can get pass the D, AI or not, theirs always ways..Even in Madden mode, you can use motions like crazy and get a mismatch with a WR on LB..

I tend to juke and apply the spin move when running the ball to the right. I do this with either Anderson, Bell, and Q. I tend to average 6 yards/carry with long runs of 20 with this strategy.

Considering I only beat the Jags by a safety. I just beat the Cowboys by a game winning field goal and I beat the Chiefs by 10 points... It's called adjusting the AI sliders fool!

Usually for a good run, I use split out and run the fullback sweep with Mike Anderson, 8 out of 10 times he breaks a big one...
I prefer the shoulder charge if I can't outrun an oncoming defender but not averse to the old stiff arm.

Since I adjusted Griffin's agility to (a rightful) 97, I use a sort of finesse running game. Also, when I'm playing against a friend, I may call like a fake toss to the FB (then right after the fake it hands it to the runningback); but before I hike the play I'll motion my tight end around and try to just completely fake him out. Compared to the Cowboys (who my friend uses) Broncos have a plethora of great running plays, you should be able to find the ones you are best at (I run most of mine out of the strong formation).

Actually you don't want to trade it in for that crap from that crappy company.
Pro seems a little easy but All pro seem too hard you can always use your sliders. Here are the sliders I use and you still keep your All Pro modifier of 1.50.
H=Human
C=CPU
Start with all the sliders empty if you want but this is counting from the left like they are empty.
H blocking - 27
H passing -- 22
H running - 25
H catching - 20
H coverage 23
H pursuit --- 20
H tackling -- 21
H kicking -- 20
H fatigue --- 23
C blocking - 18
C passing -- 29
C running -- 26
C catching - 24
C coverage 16
C pursuit --- 15
C tackling -- 17
C kicking --- 27
C fatigue --- 23
Injuries 12
Fumble -19
INT ----- 3

You don't win by 25 or more on ESPN's hardest difficulty and you don't get 200 yards rushing either. That sounds more like rookie or even pro. Or you played 15 minute quarters.
Oh and BTW the hardest level on ESPN is called "Legend" but you would know that if you actually played the game. So you might wanna hang around the Madden threads instead of bothering ESPN players.
