I finally had a nice slow Friday night and watched one of my favorites: The Girl Next Door.

I love this movie, but I love it in a different way that people love it.

Your main typical audience loves this movie because of Elisha Cuthbert (Yeah, she is a daisy in this movie) and the whole idea of hot girls/porn that was brought up numerous times.

But have you really watched this movie?

I love the way Elisha Cuthbert and Emile Hirsch interact on screen. The way they just look at each other and their eyes, it's quite simply a wonderful performance.

Their eyes give a huge performance. It's the little things that make this movie enjoyable in my opinion.

When it first came out, people thought that it was just some teen movie about porn and sex. There was some of that, but it wasn't the main idea that the director was going for. It blinded the real meaning, which actually gave people the wrong impression of the film.

How far would you go for love?

I don't know, but the movie kinda reflects how we want love to be like in our lives. We want to find that one. Even if he/she is out of our league and people know it, we'll fight for them.

Anyways, it's been a couple years since I actually sat down and watched it. I recommend watching it. Get the real meaning, and you'll be stunned of how amazing this movie came together, and the message it sent.

I actually think Emile is a little underated in his ability as an actor. Granted... he was Oscar worthy in that one... but he's a young actor who is only going to get better.

Yeah I thought he was too. He did a fantastic job playing Matthew.

But unfortunately, critics didn't take this movie seriously. They brushed it off as another "American Pie" or something, which is the movie didn't get any awards.

It's actually a REALLY good love story. I agree with you about Hircsh and Cuthbert's eyes. You could literally see the sparks.

I agree with you both. It's an amazing love story, and really well written and acted out.

I think older adults wouldn't really like this movie until they actually sat down and watched it, just because of the early stereotype it gets.

I think that the movie actually helps us relate to the characters in the movie, more so Matthew.

I mean we've all seen people more popular/riskier peers than us. We've all wanted to be like them.. And we've all seen that 'forrest fire' of a person that we can't keep our eyes off.

The music also plays a huge role in this movie. The songs picked totally matched the scenes, and the emotion of the characters. Everything from the comical parts, to the romantic/deeper parts.

On top of being a great love story, this movie really relates to life pretty close.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. When I first watched it a couple back in 2007 when I was in 8th grade. I thought it would be some teen porn movie which caught my attention, then it turned out be more of a romance movie which made me like it more than what I originally intended to see. I also like it a lot because I relate to the character Matt closely smart some what nerdy guy goes through a lot to get the girl he likes.

Overall one of the best movies i've ever seen. Very Underrated.

Same here man.

I get soft over this movie. I usually don't talk about romantic type stuff at all, but this movie brings out a whole new 'me' in me.

I can say that a lot of guys relate to the character Matt. We always want to find that special daisy, that is way out of our league. When we do see one, we never think they are into us like we are to them. But this movie totally changes that, and makes people realize that those out of our league girls can be sweet, soft, and innocent on the inside towards your everyday Joe.

TGND is def. one of my top 3 movies all-time.

Damn I ****in love this movie.

I woke up today, and my two roomates were watching this movie just for no apparent reason.

I was so bored today in Pharmacology, I googed TGND on youtube and just watched videos of it.
