Sorry I have to burst your bubble but that figure isn't the true figure. Thats what EA sold to retailers NOT to customers. EA doesn't give retailers copies and then get their cut after they're sold. Retailers have to buy the copies and then sell them to make their money. Retailers counted on Madden doing good but since ESPN is so cheap people have been getting ESPN more than Madden2005. If you go to EB game's xbox website you'll see ESPN is still one of the best sellers.

ESPN is selling better due to its lower price. While all those extra copies of Madden2005 retailers were hoping to sell are still sitting on the shelves.

I see you're smart too because that was the number sold when Madden released. I'm very very sure it's higher than that now and stores are still struggling to sell the remaining copies of Madden from the initial shippment.

Face it ESPN is a better game and with the lower price people who wouldn't normally take a chance on ESPN are now. I hear that tall oak falling in the forest. lol
