This is really starting to p*ss me off, if Madden put all the new features in one game then what would they do the following year. They play it smart by adding 1 or 2 new things each year to keep things fresh, this way they can spread all their GOOD ideas out and not run out. ESPN on the other hand is in it's what? 2nd year, of course they are going to have more new features from year to year because they have already copied all of Madden's features from the previous decade so now they can use all their ideas and add it to Maddens. Wait for another 5 years and see how many new features are introduced to ESPN from year to year.

check when both games started being made and then re-type your rhetoric. The only modern games that has even touched madden were the NFL Gameday games on PS1

Well looks like there is just alot of trash talking on about games. I am trying to decide to buy or not buy 2005. I really see no reason to buy it. I have heard the only thing different is defense??? What is so big about this feature!!! If you are good at these games which we all no we master it against the computer we can have all high school kids on our team and still win. So as of now I see no reason to buy this game!!!

there's almost no serious difference. then again, it's like that every year. people just convince themselves these changes are signifigant to justify forking out 50-70 bucks for a rehash.
Sega's "2K5" is only $20 and I keep hearing that it's a better game.

I'm still debating myself on which to get. But after reading the articles linked to that one, I'm leaning toward Sega over "Madden".

I was thinking about trying Madden 2005 on my kids Game Boy Advance. But I am not sure how much I will be able to play it since they are always glued to them!!!

just rent both and buy the game you like most, simple as that. I have found that other peoples opinions and reviewers ratings mean ***** to me, if I like a game I'm not going to not buy it becasue it was given a bad rating or because someone else thinks it s*cks

NFL2K1 and 2k2 are both awesome games, but so is madden 03 and 04.

That is true rent and buy which game you like the best. I like the NCAA 2005 your players get pissed and want to trasfer out of your school and play somewhere else. That is a nice feature. Remember one of the first Maddens on the Sega highlights would break during your game and after your game and show you a last minute touchdown or something incredible. Bring that back into the game. That feature was lost!!!

well I've played Madden since the 16-bit era - dabbled with NFL Gameday at the time - yet of course EA will always throw out the annual release with minor tweaks masquerading as revolutionary advances in gaming style (it helps when a new console comes along!)
Then I played ESPN 2K4 and realised how much more FUN football games can be! Sure I've picked up the collector's edition of Madden 05 - but what am I still playing? ESPN 2K5 - and I'll probably only go on-line with that title 2 - remember it's all about FUN, and Madden has been a dinosaur for a few years no so it's pretty sweet to have a breath of fresh air like Sega's title
Life has been a lot rosier without hearing that sweaty oaf roar 'Boom!!' 2 :goofy:

Does no one show Madden (the person) any respect anymore? Sure he coached the Raiders but he had one of the best if not the best records for any coach and he won the big one. I like Madden's stupid little comments. I don't care what they say, I play it for the game.

I liked Bill Walsh College Football 95...i think it might have been the first college football game available...they didn't have licensing rights, so teams had weird names.
Notre Dame was South Bend.
Washington State was Pullman
Penn State was State College
FSU was Tallahassee
the only teams that kept their name were teams like georgia, florida, texas, teams that were just state names.
awesome game!

I agree, he coached a SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. The man is not an idiot when it comes to football. He can probably talk in football terms that would confuse a whole lot of people, but he keeps it simple for the general public. Yes, he said the infamous "90% of the game is half mental," but I think it's more funny than stupid.
I'll say it again, Madden is not a dumbass. He's probably forgotten more football than most of us will ever know. Show the man some respect.

he may know a lot about football but that does not take away from him being incredibly stupid
Uh, fellas, "90% of the game is half mental" is a Yogism. Madden ripped it off from Berra.

I would imagine that when he says "including shipping" that he means it has already been factored into the price

well last year i played madden 2004 was adicted to it. pretty much mastered it with the broncos got like 400 yards a game with portis lol after the season i was just waiting 2 get my hands on madden 2005 (But!) then i seen an ad in a game magazine espn 2k5 only 19.99 brand new and it was out almost a month b4 madden so i was like alright i cant wait another month of playin the old madden 2004 which i was killin the cpu in all madden. with portis already traded it was no fun. so i went and gave 2k5 a shot at first i was no its not gonna be as good as madden no way in (H.E double hockey sticks). then i put it in and played the game boy was i happy i felt like i was on top of the world. it had great presentation by far better than madden graphics were mind blowing. was used to maddens controls but when i got used to 2k5s man was this just as addicting as madden. i also liked how u can hold down the turbo till it gets red and bamm! crush your opponet or tap turbo and hit the jets and run with the wind also i feel like i have more bodily controll of the player with serious cut backs jukes stiff arms and more. i like this game and for 20 bucks cant beat that at all. im a madden fan and thought i was gonna stay madden but honestly in my opinion sega espn has changed my mind this game is hands down game of the year. im gonna have to wait till next year to see what madden brings to the table. and they better bring alot cause we nfl game playin football fans are hungry
