I need help and fast, my deadline is tomorrow(19th) and i have a huge trade question. This guy is offering me Peyton Manning for Shaun Alexander and Jake Plummer. Should I accept, my other backs are Reuben Droughns and Jerome Bettis, and my other QB is Roethlisberger. Plus i could always pick up another running back from waivers, Pittman is available now. HELP PLEASE!

I wouldn't
I don;t think Manning can keep up getting 5 TDs per game, it is just a matter of time befor he slows down.

don't do it. the reason i say don't do it is because of your backs. bettis is having a nice run at the moment, but it won't last when staley is back. droughns started off great, but has come back to earth of late. you need alexander.

I dunno, Manning is looking seemingly unstopable right now and hes putting up points like woa. I would, Alexander and Plummer are good, but Manning is consistent. He very rarely has an off day, unlike Plummer.
Manning is in a groove right now and he's going to have to keep putting points up on the board because his defense is so bad. However, without knowing what your scoring is like, it's hard to advise you to make this deal if you are going to have to replace S. Alexander with J.Bettis. Once D.Staley is healthy, Bettis won't be putting up big numbers consistently the way that Alexander will. I think you might have to look at what Alexander and Plummer are averaging as a pair vs what Manning is averaging plus what Bettis was averaging before Staley got hurt in order to get some idea of how much you would be giving up or gaining. It could be close.
You might also want to take a look at what other RBs might still be available as FAs--guys, like Blaylock or Chatman or A.Thomas, who might be in a position to get significant playing time subbing for an injured starter. If you can get your hands on someone like that, it might make it easier for you to take the loss of Alexander.
It sounds to me, though, like you are looking at this trade from the perspective that Manning is so much better than Plummer--which he is--but you also have to keep in mind that in giving up S.Alexander, you will be giving up one of the very best RBs and that, unless you can find someone who can consistently give you some points at RB, you may not be able to replace him. And, I'm not sure that Bettis will be able to give you the points you will need to replace Alexander once D.Staley returns and starts getting the majority of the touches in the Pitt. offense again.
Would you please take a look at my threads, Who To Start--Week 11? (http://216.58.161.130/forums/showthread.php?t=21942) and/or FF Vets--Please Help Evaluating Injuries (http://216.58.161.130/forums/showthread.php?t=21943)? I would be most grateful for any thoughts, advice or suggestions that you might offer. Thanks!

Thanks everybody i ended up taking it due to the fact that with peyton and any one of my backs i averaged more points then plummer and alexander, plus i picked michael pittman and still have an empty slot for the waiver list. I have my fingers crossed that this won't come back and haunt me. I'm in 1st with a 8-2 record and #2-#5 are all 6-4. So we'll see what happens.
Congratulations on your trade. I think that Pittman will make the deal work for you--he's no S.Alexander, but should give you decent numbers to go with the improvement at QB that you are going to get from P.Manning. Had you been in a position to pose your question as S.Alexander and J.Plummer for P.Manning and M.Pittman (which you didn't know would be the case, but is the way things have turned out for you), I would have said to go for it in my response. I don't see P.Manning slowing down much because the Indy D is so bad (which upsets me because I have E.James and he hasn't been getting any TDs because Manning is getting them all through the air!) and I think that M.Pittman will be a consistent producer for you at RB--better than Bettis once D.Staley returns--as long as he stays healthy. And, that makes it a good deal for you IMHO. Congrats again.
id do it...i have manning and he has racked up the points...the way hes playing right now, how can you not accept that trade?
