I have never broke a bone in my life [i drink a lot of milk (cereal)]! Never sat out a game of street ball and never missed a day of school since 7th grade!

I've never had a broken bone, but I did fall on the stairs on Sunday morning holding my son. I went in for x-rays yesterday and they came back negative. So that was a great sign! It's still swollan and black and blue, but the walking is getting better. It was not a good day. It started out with this, then the Mobley got hurt, then the Donks lose to same Ravens team we always lose to.

The worst injury I have ever had occured August. I was returning a kickoff for my high school football team and I went to cut and I got hit kind of how Mike Vick got hit. Everyone thought I broke my fibula but I just had a high and low ankle sprain and a bone contussion. I was out for 3 games. It is terrible watching your team play and you have to be on the sideline.

Broke three ribs in wrestling, that was the most painful injury.
Other smaller injuries in basketball and soccer.

Sure in college in Wisconsin. In fact I saw one of the worst injuries my freshman year to a fellow team mate. He went to kick the ball and someone tried to "slide tackle" him at that moment and his ankle snapped like a toothpick. It was very ugly and it was one of the worst injuries I have ever seen. It in my opinion was worst then Theismans.

I tore my ACL in college. Had a few other tears, but that one was the worst. The surgery back the isn't what it is today. I have a HUGE scar on my knee, and now all they do is two little holes to do the surgery. Its a lot less invasive now.

Lets see...
Left Arm-one of those forearm bones, broken
Right Arm-both of those forearm bones, broken
Left Collarbone-broken
(not all at the same time, fortunately)
Both knees-orthoscopic surgury to fix kneecaps "popping out of place"
Fell off a 25' cliff at 16, no broken bones, moderate concusion, major contusions.
Drove car off Colorado Natn'l Monument in 1993, 115' from pavement to where the car came to rest, no broken bones, serious concusion, serious contusions. (wear your seat belts, kids...saved my arse. LOL)
By FAR, the most painful of all the above, was my kneecaps "popping out of place"...I see a football player go down with a knee injury & feel for the guy. Something about that joint that can cause just immense amounts of agony...worse than any broken bone (at least that I've suffered)
Think thats about it...but I could be forgetting some (concussions'll do that to ya, LOL)
Sorry...hope that didn't qualify as a "long post"

I was in an accident in August of '02. I hit the steering wheel and windsheild in the pickup I was driving. I broke my nose, both of my eye sockets, knocked out a tooth and chipped three others, bit through my upper lip, had a minor cut above my left eye and on my right leg, and a really deep gash on my chin. Other than that, I've never had any other serious injuries. But believe me, I was a hurtin' unit for about a month.

I was blown up at work, due to a propane explosion. It really made me mad cause I was wearing my back 2 back superbowl hat, and it got roasted like a marsmallow. Not to mention 3rd degree burns on arms and face. Very painful would not wish that on anyone not even a chiefs fan lol.

I don't care what team you root for ... the ripped open nut sack has to hurt even if one could argue stupidity was the cause.
Everybody's had injuries ... makes me respect NFL players for playing with a variety of injuries that haven't fully healed. I mean, I have no idea how much Jake Plummer's shoulder was hurting him, not to mention how much his ankle will still hurt when he's deemed fit to play. Football players are tough bastards, no doubt (no offense intended by the use of the word "bastard")

Look at Favre. He's played a kajillion games in a row without being out for injuries. Of course, he's had many injuries through out his career, but he's a tough SOB that plays through them. Priest Holmes had his ribs smashed in vs Pittsburgh, but hasnt missed a game. Trent Green has an injury to his lower leg and still kicked ass last week. Football players will play through some of the most intense pain and rehab in the off-season. It's aprt of the game.
The karma has come back to haunt the Donkeys. They knocked out Priest and any hopes of the playoffs for the Chiefs. We knocked out Plumber and put a hurt on their playoff hopes.

1) Broken arm when I was 7. Fell out of a tree, heard the bone snap. That's why it hurts to even THINK of Theismann and Beuerlein!
2) Ligament damage to both elbows and right shoulder last year while digging my backyard pond and hauling 80-lb. bags of QuikCrete around. For a while I couldn't even pick up a cup of coffee, but now it's back to QuikCrete, so I guess I'm mostly healed.
3) Damage to both knees, both ankles, and left hip due to years and years of running around in high heels. Law firms need everything RIGHT NOW, and they're not kidding!

Also in my favour is the fact that I hate to be manhandled, and therefore would scratch the eyes out of anyone trying to sack me!
I would also look good in shoulder pads and a helmet, though I don't like to get my hair mussed.
Are heeled pumps allowed at mile high?

Guys in the NFL may be a little injury prone, but really you've got to expect to get injured when you throw yourself into a moving train every weekend.
As for the people on this board maybe some of them should take up checkers or paint by number or something.

I'm a klutz. A skilled mix of injury prone, soft and unlucky. i can't walk past my coffee table without walking into it, i hit my arms on doors when i walk through (once bumped my hand on a metal door handle and it sliced open my finger, i had to have stitches), i will fall down stairs for no apparent reason (once fell walking UP stairs, ended up with stitches in my knee). Another time i just randomly hit my hand on a glass i was carrying, and my ring shattered the glass...again, stitches. If i walk past a basketball or volleyball game, the ball WILL fly towards me and hit me. I tore up my shin the other day just opening the car door (right onto my leg).
I know. I'm a mess. I just laugh with every new bruise. And yet somehow, in all my years of playing sports (soccer, ice skating etc..) i never once got injured. After practice though? Running to my locker? Fell down the stairs, tore ligaments in my ankle. Go figure.

That depends. Some injuries are an unavoidable consequence of doing a certain type of work or playing a certain type of sport. My thing of the moment is working with concrete and doing manual labor, for instance. There's no way in Hell a person WON'T get injured doing that stuff. Those who play certain sports (notably football and hockey) are certain to be injured in some way at some point.
My brother, however, is a true klutz, which is unfortunate since he works in construction.

My Grandpa and I were driving around one day and came across a bad car accident. There was a woman laying on the side of the highway, with a towel over her face. I was only about 10 yrs old or so, so I didn't think much of it. But when I got home, The news was on and I heard about the accident and that the woman had died. That's kinda hard for a 10 yr old to take.
As for my Grandpa, he was a sharpshooter and also an ambulance driver in WWII, nuff said.

Interesting question.
I asked my wife.
Lots of medical mumbo jumbo, but basically, you know how some people try really hard, but still get cavities all the time, and others don't? Some people literally have more brittle bones. And not just older people. Diet has a lot to do with it (soda is the worst. SO many kids, especially girls, reach for that instead of OJ or milk, and that is just bad mojo. Not only no calcium, but the sugar and CO2 are bad for your bones...double whammy!)
But, you can be genetically predisposed to having slightly more brittle bones, or in the case of teeth, softer enamel.
Weird, huh?

OH my god - i had a dream like that...when was it, like a year ago. i was walking along a highway after a bad accident and saw basically exactly what you've said so far, and an EYEBALL WITH A LONG VEIN IN THE BACK! EEK! Even the DREAM freaked me out for a long time. i can't believe you actually saw that. i'm so sorry.
My brother is a paramedic, and the stuff he sees blows my mind. i could never do that. After day in and day out of such tragedy, i don't see how he can drive a car (much less a motorcycle, which he also has). He says that after a while the tragedies don't affect you the same way. But he ended up pulling himself out of the field when he wasn't able to save a three year-old girl and she died in his arms. That really affected him. Now he's a supervisor, so he just gets called in for the really big stuff. And you know what's messed up? He's been shot at several times by gangs who don't want to see the person they shot be saved. His stories are endless.
Anyhow - sorry to babble...but props to people like him, who go through all that to save people like me.

What's funny is that BOTH of them dislike the Raiders, not b/c of football....but b/c when there's trouble and they get called in, they've reported that a lot of times the people involved are all decked out in Raider gear. Of course, we're in LA, so they're often dealing with gangs...and the gangs DO love the Raiders.

He was given acces to the police report which detailed the injuries, I believe. In talking to him some time after the incident, I did not say "Hey you almost stabbed me in my nuts" if you know what I mean. lol

I snapped/cracked my femur when I fell down some stairs wrestling with my brother. Had a freakin' body cast (went up to my chest). Rather embarassing too cause sometimes they had my wang hanging out of the casket, ehem, cast.
I'm pretty injury prone... I get injuries a ton but I've gotten them sooo many times I've learned to just live through them. My legs are shot to living hell, I went two years of skateboarding and busted my legs to bits, tried kicking a football as hard as possible and utterly destroyed my leg muscle (couldn't straighten my leg for months), all sorts of wrist injuries, my knees are banged up (my right one has what I call a "permanent bruise", it hurts if I ever touch it since... a long time ago).
My dad used to be a jockey (ride race horses) for 22 years, you cannot imagine how many broken bones he's been through.

I thought the two bones in your leg were the fibia and tibia that ed mccaffrey broke.

My understanding is that it is a pop, then intense pain, similar to a dislocated joint, not a burning. But I have never had one, I am only telling you what I have been told.

Is it worse to tear the ACL or the MCL?
One is in the knee and one in the heel right?

ACL anterior cruciate ligament
MCL medial cruciate ligament
Both in the knee although the ACL is the one that provides the primary stabilization of the knee so it is generally a much more serious injury.

Imagine someone tearing off your knee cap, putting thousands of needles into the wound and covering it with a pound of salt while stomping on your knee.
