Johnny Depp without a doubt...
I can't pick just one great movie. And his roles vary so greatly.
Edward Scissorhands (on of the top imo)
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Blow
Donnie Brasco
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Secret Window
Chocolat for the ladies
Pirates of the Carribean
He did a musical Cry-Baby
Even when the movie is bad, Depp plays his role so well IMO.

Jodie Foster
Tom Hanks or Morgan Freeman.
Worst movie ever by anybody - Freddy vs. Jason (stuck at a Drive-In waiting for the second feature) - Sitting through that was brutal. What a waste of film. I've seen better home movies.
Best - Depends on the genre but for war films for Tom Hanks - Saving Private Ryan for Morgan Freeman - Glory.
Any genre for Jodie Foster - Taxi Driver.
.

It would be more accurate to just call him an emtertainer and not an Actor.
I also want another to my list.
Ed Harris.
That dude has been pretty underated his whole career. I like him in almost everything his in. The Abyss in particular.

"Funny" & "Adam Sandler" are not allowed to be in the same sentence.
You know, his schtick would be funny, if he didn't do it in every single movie.
Had he done it once, it would be funny.....but the second time, it gets old. The third time......well, you get the idea.

Agreeable, He's no Jim Carey. If you think he is not funny, than I don't know who is.

My all time has to be Paul Newman- That dude is the coolest guy to ever walk the earth. If I could come back as anyone (other than Joisey) it would be him.

Ah, good choice TDK. He's one of my favs too. He was brilliant in The Rock and Enemy At the Gates....and pretty much the majority of what he's in.

Funny = John Cleese. Cary Grant. Early Bill Murray movies. Early Eddie Murphy movies. Jim Belushi. Dan Akroyd. Ben Stiller sometimes. Robin Williams (when he is not trying to do drama), Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, George Carlin, Steve Martin is the funniest man alive.
Not funny = Adam Sandler. Jim Carrey (although he's got pretty good range as an actor, his comedy choices have been marginal to poor. Which is a shame, because he always picks good dramatic pieces), Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie murphy now, Norm Macdonald.

Dan Akroyd slayed him in his sleep. Easily.
Dennis Miller was better than him too.

i dont care what ya'll say, Adam Sandler is awesome. He's halirious. He's an actor, comedian, singer..he can do it all. i even used to think he was sexy at one point. but he is a good actor and i think the only thing that could screw up his career and make me think less of him was if he played a really serious role in a movie not meant to be funny.
he's awesome. OrangeShadow knows what im talking bout. lol

no, what i;m saying is i've always seen and known him as the funny man. it'd be weird seeing him as anything else. i think he'd be better as the funny one in a comedy than a stiff in a drama anyday.

I have to agree with Jared about the Robin Williams... He is damn funny, but I saw his HBO special, it was great, but when I saw him on some late night show, he was using the exact material (minus the swearing).
Jim Carey seems like he could just freestyle it anytime he wants.

You know, there were a lot of movies I thought were so awesome when I saw them at the theater, in that slice of time, but now they seem a shadow of what was then.
Example - Walking out of the theater after seeing THE GODFATHER. I actually remember saying it was the Best movie I had ever seen. What was it- 1972-73?
It is a damn good one, but things change, times change, people change.
I remember seeing the trailer for Star Wars, about 6 months before it came out. It was a pivotal moment. Those long shots of the realistic looking Millenium Falcon, and all the rest of the quick glimpses of the film, IMMEDIATLY hooked me, and I knew in my heart that filmmaking was on the brink of huge change. I said so.
When it came out, (1975-76?) it not only captured the hearts of most everyone, but it fundamentally changed how we view movies. Where before we used imagination and forgiveness for weak technology and filming, we suddenly demanded more, expected more. Low quality films began to bomb. We had a taste of what could be, and we no longer would put up with crap.
The release of Star Wars was a watershed moment in film history.
Often, today, charactor development and storyline take a back seat to the special effects.
So many films I loved, and remember fondly, just do not stand up today, but I still got a soft spot for 'em.
Sorry to ramble...again.
