View Full Version : Dogs Butt Glands
This may be pretty gross to talk about to some of you, but I'm bored and I'm going to post it.
My little weiner dog, obviously to me, can empty his anal sacs voluntarily. Which means the two glands inside his anus get filled up with this 'make you want to vomit' smelling liquid, then he lets it run out. It's known that most domestic animals have lost this ability, which was once used as a defense mechanism. The glands for other dogs are usually emptied when they go to the bathroom. :ugh:
Lucky for me, my dog is one of the special ones. Numerous times, after he was sitting on my lap, I find these little STINKY ASS wet spots on my jeans or such because he just emptied his glands on me. He does this atleast once a day. I decided to find out what the hell it is.
This site really told me everything above:
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_anal_sacs.html
Anyways, I'm curious if any of you actually have this problem. I also feel sorry for whoever has a much larger dog then a daschund, since the mess is probably much larger.
I apologize for being gross and I understand if you don't read it, I'm just bored.....

Maybe that's what the dog farting on me was doing.
Hmmm.

I am aware of them, but this is the first I've heard as far as a dog either not being able to control them or using them in such a manner. I definitely don't think it is normal for a dog to discharge its glands while sitting on your lap. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian.

That very well could be... :ugh:

Well, the site says that your dog should be fine if he can empty them at all. It also shows a person doing it for the dog with the rubber glove and the napkin, glad he doesn't have THAT problem. I'm guessing that as long as he can do it, he should be ok.

We had a toy apricot poodle that required us to squeeze these glands for drainage. So I know exactly what you are talking about. And yes. It is nasty smelling stuff.

Aww man, that sucks. Well, maybe I'm lucky that he can do it by himself. Damn though, why does he have to do it ON ME sometimes!

Yeah, sometimes my dog sit and then drags this a$$ along the ground with his front feet, I read they do it when those sacs don't empty like they're supposed to. It's the funniest god damn thing to watch though.

Isn't that what we'd call a wet fart, or to quote the Knight "a shart"
