Mostly 70's & 80's rock, Led Zep, Queen, ZZ Top, The Boss, Dire Straits, Def Leppard, basically anything that a bunch of musicians can get up on stage and play, without overoding the electornic gadgetry.

That being said, I also like Tangerine Dream, Jan Hammer, Paul Hardcastle & Jean Michel Jarre rules.

Currently, probably Maroon 5 are the only recent band that I've been out and bought.

My bad, thought that was just the model of a bigger company. Cause I had never heard of that company. Is it harder than playing a 4-string bass?

muse

Nah, just takes time to get used to it, about 2 weeks.

Pedulla are a great company, very high quality (handmade US basses). They usually retail around $2,500(!) but I got mine for $950 and it's gonna last me ages, so why not? It's a MusicMan Stingray copy but it's more versatile.

I think I would have had a hard time getting used to it. I used to have a Fender bass, but then someone stole it and broke it, so I stopped playing. Nice deal on the bass though, I probably never heard of it since I never took the time to look at the really expensive basses in detial. :D

I quit listening to hip-hop around the time Wu-Tang came out and the West-East feud got stupid.

It all started to sound the same to me. Just my opinion.

There are occasionally individual rap songs that I hear that I like, though.

Bastards, bad luck there. Couldn't you claim insurance? I got a nice bass simply cause it would keep me highly enthusiastic for ages...not something I'd want to give up any time soon, that's for sure. I'm also racking the FX, I've got a Sovtek EHX Big Muff Pi (it's one with a true bypass too, which is lucky), an Akai Deep Impact Synth and a Boss OC-3 octaver, I love them for some reason. I'm thinking about either a Whammy, Synth Wah, a Line 6 FIlter Moddeler, Pitch Shifter or a Phaser next...hmm...choices, choices...I need to get a proper amp sometime too...

Jed is a great album....Each album went down a notch thereafter.

I thought Superstar carwash was their most consistently written album. They sounded the same as on Jed, just with MUCH better production.

A Boy Named Goo had some toughness, but Dizzy Up The Girl just started a decline for me.

I heard Gutterflower at Borders, and its certainly better than a lot of junk out there, but it was just TOO different from what I liked about the early days. But you can't be drunk and 18 forever I suppose.

But their cover of Supertramp's "Give A Little Bit" is horrible.

Musically innovative (first true rock-rap group) and intelligent lyrics, although yes, I can't deal with de la Rocha's voice either.

I listen to almost anything and everything. Mostly classic rock though. In the last few years however, I find myself listening to more classical and jazz though.

Lately, I am listening to Mick Jagger and still cant take "Breakfast in America" out of my cd player in my car. My favorite album of all time.

Music I am not particlarly fond of is Country and Rap. But there are exceptions........

My RECORD collection spans everything from Mozart to Led Zeppelin to Frank Sinatra. CD's too. But most of my CD's are just copies of my records because they just never did make turntables that fit in a sportscar!

Breakfast in America is very cool. They were WAY ahead of their time in terms of production and arrangements. They would have sounded AWESOME in the CD era. Lots of subtleties.

But that's the one album I can say I bought for every single track!

Glad to see someone with taste :D I was gonna post this a while ago but all the previous posters were so hip and cool "Grannywelsh" decided to wait before making her contribution! ;) I too enjoy a wide range of music. As an 80s teenager 60's and 70's Soul was my favourite and I continue to enjoy listening to artists such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding.

I've developed a taste for Jazz recently too. Louis Armstrong is a gem and Ella Fitzgerald has such a wonderfully rich voice. I've also just bought my first Sinatra album a compilation of his greatest songs. He has an uncanny knack to deliver a song in a way many others just can't do.

I enjoy listening to some classical music - nothing too serious - just the sort of stuff you can relax and wind down to.

I grew up with U2 and Annie Lennox and have a number of their albums. I don't listen to them as much now but I think they still remain some of the best live performers and are a hard act to beat.

My son is going through a retro phase at the moment and has introduced me to the delights of Jimi Hendrix. His guitar playing is awesome. He's also introduced me to Green Day and is trying to convert me to rap. Rap is ok but I won't be rushing to the shops to buy any albums. Manufactured pop is my biggest hate.

Finally I enjoy a bit of Opera too. My bro is a rookie opera singer and through him I've come to start enjoying some of that music. By no means am I an opera buff/snob and don't wish to be so either. In fact I can't think of anything worse than having to listen to a whole opera on cd but it's great to go to a live performance and compilation cd's of best arias from different operas are good too.

Musically innovative (first true rock-rap group) and intelligent lyrics, although yes, I can't deal with de la Rocha's voice either.

I like em, Tom Morello/Timmy Commerford are one of the best Guitar/Bass combos ever IMO.
