I'm undecided, but leaning towards Ladanian Tomlinson. I don't know the scoring yet, but what do you guys think?

He would be a good pick. I would also consider Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes (depends on what you hear about his injury status), Clinton Portis, or Michael Vick. I personally would go with one of the RB's but a lot of that depends on your leagues scoring system. You need a top RB to win a league and if you don't have a top 6 pick then you may not get one of the top ones.

I'd be very nervous with Priest Holmes. Isn't his injury similar to Bo Jackson's?

I have heard this also, but it hasn't come from anyone directly connected to Priest Holmes or the Chiefs. That is why I put the disclaimer about listening to the injury reports that will be coming out when training camps start here in a few weeks.

I had Priest Holmes and Clinton Portis last year... they were my bread and butter and carried me to the finals. With Priest injured, I would look towards Ricky Williams continuing to excel. Don't forget Marshall Faulk will be looking to rebound the Rams from their poor performance last year.
Good luck making a decision.

The talk in Miami is about working Ricky as much as they can so if he stays healthy his numbers should improve.
What about Stephen Davis in Carolina? I imagine he'll get the majority of the work there. Of course, he will have the face the Bucs twice.
With Tomlinson, you have to wonder if there will be pressure to reduce his touches now that they have a legitimate WR to throw to.

Of course this is all speculation that you will take a runner, unless I know there is a Marshall Faulk/ Priest Holmes type out there, I will usually start off with a good QB. I had McNabb last year, who was wonderful for me until his injury. He got me points for his passing and running yards, much like Mike Vick could..Jeff Garcia has been productive over the past three years. Warner is still a question mark after last year, Farve is
also erratic. Bledsoe wasn't too bad last year either, when he wasn't playing NE.

First pick is a tougher position to be in than it intially seems.....I had first round pick last year, and it ate at my stomach for 2 months leading up to the draft. Nevertheless, bottom line.....you need to grab a top runningback.....Williams, Thomlinson and lets not forget the main man.....CLINTON PORTIS!!!! Number 1 in my book. Good luck

Pick a RB first. If u don't, all the good ones will be taken. Shoot for a QB in the second. If there is not a QB left worthy of the second round, there will be good opportunities later. Just make sure you dont pass them by. I wouldn't pick a receiver until the 4th. There are many good receivers that can be taken late in the draft. You just have to do some research. If I had the first pick, I would take Portis. See my reasons why in my other post. And one more thing..................GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

It really depends on how your league is set up. I use Yahoo and NFL.com. Both of them are scoring leagues which mean TD's get you the most pionts. So with that said RB's are the only way to go in the first and second round. Ricky Williams should; and more than likely go first in most drafts. Good back late round picks will be LaDainian Tomlinson, Ahmad Green, Charlie Garner, Deuce McAllister. Second round picks Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander, Duce Staley, Antowain Smith. There are to many good QB's and sleeper WR's to take in the early rounds. Good luck with your draft.

With the #1 pick, ypu should choose Rickey Williams or maybe if you feel lucky you could go with Portis.

In my opinion you need a quality, top-notch RB with your first pick.
Right now I have Portis #1, Williams #2, and Tomlinson #3. Any of theses 3 guys will be your team "stud". In my heart, as a 20+ year Bronco fan, I'm taking Portis #1 if I get that opportunity.

Alot of people soon forget about Marshall, injuries cost him last year and I think he's out to prove he's back, and so are the Rams!
Portis is the man however, and he is going to have an awesome season!!!!!

Sorry to say, and I'm sure many will agree, but Faulk just has been "nicked up" too much over the last 2 seasons to make him a true "top 3" running back. That's not to say that he isn't one of the best rb's in the nfl, he is, but in my opinion he doesn't warrant a "top 3 overall pick" in any fantasy league. Agree or disagree, I don't care, I WANT PORTIS WITH MY FIRST PICK", and with the fantasy gods help I know I'm going to get him. I just won't wear my Portis jersey the day of the draft and give away my choice for my #1 guy.

You make a valid point, I had Portis last year and he was a pleasant suprise!! Because Curtis Martin wasn't himself, it forced Portis into the Fire for me and he responded huge!!! Good luck in getting Portis, another great RB is Tiki Barber in maybe the 3rd round! He catches alot of passes and is very productive depending on your scoring system.

True, Vick is a tremendous weapon, but I still think the first 5 - 8 picks in any leaugue will be a running back. Good luck to all in your drafts.

Hey everyone - I'm new to the board. It looks good and sounds like you all have good fantasy information. I look forward to talking with you.
I have the same issue - picking #1 overall. Right now, it's between Williams and Tomlinson. The Chargers scare me a li'l from a fantasy perspective with LT, b/c they have faded down the stretch 2 years in a row.
If I were to pick today... it would be Williams.
My ranking would be:
Williams, LT, Portis, and then Faulk or Holmes. I'm thinking from more of a keeper league mentality with this ranking.

In terms of keeper leagues, you definitely have to take Portis, Williams, or Tomlinson because they're going to be around for a long time. Faulk is getting old and maybe has 2-3 season at most as a productive back. Holmes could go either way, he's not young, but he ain't old either. We'll have to see with that hip injury, and of course he is in the perfect offense for a guy like him. Who else besides Trent Green and Tony Gonzalez is worth even a slight consideration on that offense! (Kennison, ex half-Bronco? Don't make me laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once you have your RB & QB, I recommend giving serious consideration to Peerless Price. He had a huge year with Bledsoe throwing to him last year, and I think he'll be as good or better with Vick as his QB. Imagine all the extra time Vick can give him to get open.

I agree with you about the "Priceless One". He is certainly poised for a monster year. Don't forget last year's numbers were gained opposite Eric Moulds who is another top pick wide receiver.

From the discussions going on here, everyone pretty much agrees on Portis.
I also agree, but what about Rod Smith, Lelie, McCaffery - Im thinking that if I can't get rod with my 2nd WR pick, I'll prolly pick McCaffery w/3rd wr - It seems like everyones sorta down on Rod - anything happen? Or maybe everyone nervous of Jake?
Is there anyone on defense that I should consider taking? Mobley maybe, but I admit that I can't read the daily paper and I should be.

In my non-homer opinion, Portis is probably the fantasy player worth drafting in the first 3 rounds.
Who knows what Rod will do, I'm expecting 1,000-1,200 yds and possibly 6 TDs, but where does that rank? 3rd round?
Ed will be there in the 6th or so. I'd probably take Lelie first, but most people will overlook him. I think it would be really tough to have a Broncos WR as your #1. There are a lot of questions right now, Lelie and Plummer are the wildcards.

Right now, Rod is going to be the #1 Bronco WR, People are saying Lelie might start as #2 and not "Easy Ed". I also agree you should be able to get any Bronco WR after the 3rd round. I think all "Non-Bronco Believers" feel that Plummer just won't get the job done and will overlook all 3 of our receivers. That's good news for us cause we know they will be available. I personally feel pretty good about Plummer so far, but we'll have to see how he does in the preseason. Side note, our defense will be strong because of our LB's, so I would pick any of them.

Dude, you should have competed on "Last Comic Standing". You would have won with material like Elway, Davis, and Upchurch. Why stop there draft Haven Moses at #4

#1 ... You know your history... Haven Moses taught Swan how to catch, could you imagine if Elway would have had Moses to target... unstopable!

With respect to the Rb's.... If Vick doesn't pass for over 200 yds, he runs for 50. If he doesnt pass for 2 td's... he will run for 2 td's. Defenses cant stop this guy. Hard to pass him up with a #1 pick! The number two pick is where the confusion begins for me, although my loyalty is with Portis.

Thanks for the "Bronco History Props"!!!!
#2, Vick should easily be able to pass for over 200 yds a game now that he has Peerless Price. Remember last year his #1 target was Brian Finneran (who the "Iggles" cut) and his passing was pretty good. Now they give him a weapon like Price, and don't forget Warrick Dunn can catch it coming out of the backfield and they say Crumpler is going to have an impact year. (That last part about Crumpler I don't buy. All this said, I still believe RB's will be drafted 1 - 8 in any league.
