well we already know Giambi used them, and can't prove that big Mac did, all though everyone knows he did...No one will test bonds...he'll somehow turn it into a race issue or sumthin.
I meant someone who hasn't been involved with the steriod speculation..a player people know instead of George Piedra..?

they get off way too easy...after 10 days it's like nothing happened...so what? they still have 152 more... :coffee:
it should be 1st offence--season long suspension, 2nd offence--out of baseball
my 2 cents...

No, have 3 strikes. 1st strike: 1/2 season long 2nd stike: Whole season 3rd strike: Kicked out.
I mean if Pete Rose gets kicked out for gambling, than they definetly have to have a worse suspension for steroids.

Another person I think that might be doing steroids, Sammy Sosa.
But I think Bud Selig is to scared to bust a big name for doing steroids, cause he thinks that the MLB's reputation will go down.
Well, the Rockies are starting. Gotta go support the BEST team in baseball.

OMG, another loss. 6 in a row. Pisses me off. Shawn Chacon pitches a great game for 6 innings, and then Brain Fuentes and Ryan Speir blow the 2-1 lead. Also, Arron Miles couldnt make a routine ground ball play in the bottom of the 8th, which let the tying runner on base. I just cant believe what kind of baseball I am watching.

If any of you are bored and have nothing better to do perhaps you could give me a masterclass in Pitching?
Just in case you're a bit confused .....no.....I don't expect you to come over to Wales and teach me personally but could some of you perhaps please attempt to teach me a little about the different pitches used in the game.
You see....this is my 1st full season following baseball. I got hooked on the game and the Sox during their amazing comeback against the Yankees last October.
As I haven't been brought up on baseball and we only get one game a week over here I'm still in the dark over some things.
So if you fancy a go at putting into words the different pitches used in the game then I'd be very grateful.
I might even award some CP's if your posts are good :D

This should give you an idea of the four main pitches
Fastball
Changeup
Curveball
Slider
http://www.tireball.com/html/pitches.html
These are the four main pitches, but they branch out from here.
For instance, the fastball shown on the link provided is a two-seam fastball, while there is also a four-seamer.
Also need to discuss the splitfinger, sinker, and some other variations, like the knuckle-curve (only talented pitchers like mike mussina can throw such a pitch)

What is up with the Rockies? I am getting so pissed off right now, it isnt even fun to watch the Rocks play anymore.
They have been a frustrating team to watch since their beginning. This organization has some serious problems IMO. Not sure exactly where to point the finger here but seems every time this team even begins to look remotely competitive, they trade off the players. I lost total faith in them when they let Galaraga go. That really made me mad. The pitching staff has sucked since day one. They are going to be a basement team until they make some changes.
It is really sad too because the fans in Denver really supported them with record attendance for the first few years. We all know what has happened to ticket sales since then.
But I was born in Cincinnati and was baptised under the Big Red Machine. GO REDS!

I was just watching ESPNEWS to see what they would say about this. I knew they would have a "player-fan altercation" list or timeline. In that list, they say Milton Bradley threw a bottle at a fan last year. If anyone remembers that, he walked over to the stands and slammed the PLASTIC bottle on the ground. Was he out of line? Probably. Did they have to say he threw a bottle AT a fan? No, because he didn't!

People don't hate the Dodgers. How can anyone possibly hate the Dodgers?
I do however hate Paul DePodesta. He's an idiot. Almost made that three way deal with the Yanks and Diamondbacks, but got ripped so bad by the press and fans so he backed out. He doesn't sign Beltre, who finally showed he can play. Trades Loduca and Mota for trash. Hee Soep Choi is a bum. Gives Dave Roberts to the Sox. Drew had one good year, make that one full year, so he signs him for five. I can't wait until he lets Gagne walk and fires Jim Tracy. Did I mention Hee Soep Choi is a bum?

I know it's not even two weeks into the season, but the Dodgers have the best record in baseball. The Rocks have the worst.
I think the Dodgers had the best record in baseball last year through mid May. If they can just prevent making stupid trades, they might be able to make the playoffs again. But realistically, I think the Giants will win the West.

I dont think the Giants will because they are too old and they dont have Bonds or Alou. So the Dodgers are pretty much a lock for the NL West.

By the way, Cards win 11-1 tonight. Mark Mulder finally shows what we traded for in the offseason. Mulder's start is the fourth consective gem that the Cards' starters have thrown (Suppan, Carpenter, Marquis were the other three).

So this morning I'm watching Sportscenter and they had this piece were they followed three people who also went to both games. Damn, I wish they would have followed us around. It would have been pretty cool to be on Sportscenter.
Oh, and at the end of Sportscenter they showed the top 10 plays from yesterday. Andrew Jones had a diving catch that was #3. Sosa had a diving catch that was #2. And Tejada had on that was #1. I guess that's pretty cool I saw all three live.

Mulder ain't a slouch either. The Cards were lucky that Clemens could only go seven and they finally got a run across against the Astros bullben in the 10th. That was the difference in the game. Clemens and Mulder were both unhittable, but Mulder was able to go deeper in the game than Clemens.

 and it couldnt happen to a nicer guy. Clemens is a jerk!
Remember when he pitched in the All Star game in Houston, and the AL rocked him so hard there were rumors after that maybe Piazza was tipping the AL hitters?
I just about died laughing over that one.

I just have a quick ?. Is Baseball only survivng off the TV and Radio contracts? Just asking becasue it doesn't seem like they sell out alot of games or get enough people to really bring in money..

Say what?
Maybe some of the smaller markets struggle a lil, but the Angels had 43000 at fri, sat and sundays games. Thats huge $$$$$$..

That's the Angels. There are only a few teams in this league who I see bringing in $$$. When you look at what The Tampa Bay Devil Rays owner has done to this league it's sad. Their payroll is only 29 million for the year and right off the bat he gets 60 million from the MLB TV and Radio contarcts and not to mention that's without even selling a ticket yet. That's why I really don't respect the game of basbeall is because this kinda crap goes on and is toilerated

that's why i'm sick of people complaining about the yankees and their huge payrolls.
Other teams have the money to spend if they want..but they choose to pocket it and keep it as profit.

Yeah, but still, Stienbrenner still has more money than the Rockies owner, so that isnt fair. I think that Baseball should have a salary cap.

NJ is right to an extent. Some owners choose not to spend the money. But some spend way too much, and most are around the league average. Of the top 9 payrolled teams 6 made the playoffs last year. That shows the teams that spend the money atleast have a better oppurtunity to win.
I agree with you BVP that baseball does need a cap. All teams can't spend what the major market teams spend. They just don't sell the tickets or the merchandise.

CP for that. I have always had that argument. Having a cap makes football a much better sport, because all of the teams have an equal payroll. But in baseball, A-Rod makes more money than the whole Devil Rays team combined. I just think that the Yankees are cheating.

our best player hasn't had an at bat... so there
does your best player have 21 straight scoreless innings.
