Man I hate watching TNT broadcasts. During every time out they take a commercial break, even if it's a 20 second timeout. I mean seriously, what's the matter, don't have anything to say? Are you not basketball smart? Can't keep the conversation going? Seriously, entertain the viewers, not show me how to save 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico.
TV stations are forced to go to commercials.

Here is an article that points to exactly what I have been harping about on shooting.
http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_2714479
Perhaps getting Lenard back will be an answer. If Melo will just spend the offseason practicing, practicing, practicing his midrange jump shot--and indeed Lenard fills the void at shooting (get the meaning of that term?) guard--the Nugs could be a very high seed this time next year.

Yeah gotta love it.
A little off topic, but Bronco games drive me nuts for the same reason.
Touchdown = commercials
Extra Point = commercials
Kick off = commercials
then FINALLY 1st down. 5-10 minutes can go by.

come on washington. this is your opportunity to close out the series. you won't win if you keep shooting pull up jumpers and not even trying to get the ball inside. stop forcing shots and play smart basketball.
BroncosB2B
05-06-2005, 07:02 PM
Oh my God. Washington. CAN YOU PLEASE TRY AND GET THE BALL INSIDE????? MY GOD! Stop forcing 3 poointers and jumpshots. Pass the ball. You will NEVER win if all you do is have the first man pull up for a jumper. It's a team game, not 1 vs 5.

Broke my heart when Arenas left Arizona when he did. But I don't think there was a doubt in anyone's mind that he would make it big in the NBA. Some say that Bibby was the best guard to come out of UA, but I dunno . . .

Oh, BVP, now that's a bit pessimistic, isn't it? Karl expressed pleasure with Miller and Boykins, and he looked forward to Lenard's return. We do need some better shooting, though, which will be helped considerably with Lenard's return and Person's re-signing.
But Nash would be able to spread the ball around to Melo more.

Give the Wizards credit though. They fought hard all night against the best team in the league. No one is giving them a chance and they had a shot to WIN at the end. Sorry, I'm a little ticked that everyone is like "Ok, so when the Heat play the Pistons...". Come on, they still have to play the game. But yes, Dwayne Wade and Shaq remind me of the Kobe-Shaq tandem in LA.

Pistons know that the key to winning series (as they demonstrated on Lakers last year) isn't trying to stop Shaq; it's not letting the other guys beat you. Shaq got his points last year in the finals, but Detroit put the clamps on Kobe. Was not at all surprised they did the same thing to Heat this year.
I live in LA area where there's this on-going debate about whether DWade is better than Kobe. Curious to see if Wade's #s in this series will be worse than Kobe's in last year's finals.

It's hard NOT to believe in a conspiracy theory when the media makes it out that the Heat just dominated the Pistons in Game 2. Yes, DWade had 40, BUT the game was tied w/4 minutes left. The Heat escaped w/a narrow victory. Can Wade keep posting big #s? I don't know, but I think Detroit fans are probably feeling better about the split than Heat fans.

Same thing happened in game 1, the media showed it as the heat were truly dominated, and were never close. They had it tied with 4 minutes left, just forgot to score again. They all had off games, I think game 2 was more like the real heat.

the spurs have that series wrapped up.
my pick at the start of the playoffs (detroit) look good and as they have the best D in the NBA i see them beating the heat 4-1 or 4-2, they NEVER lose at the palace, espeically in big games.
i have to admit that i cannot stand the heat!!!!!!! they were poor last year and all they do is pay loads of money to some big dude to hang under the basket and dunk all day and suddenly they are a playoff team!! i like wada but dude is way too inconsistant.

No way. Heat over Spurs man! :D
Yup, my bet is still holding true, heat in 6! :D
The pistons are obviously not as good as the heat, not saying they are bad though. They have an amazing defense, but they can only sometimes hold the heat, which in my mind, is the best overall offense.
Yes, better than the suns, who although they average more points a game, doesn't neccasarily mean their offense is better. It's the way their offense plays against good defenses, and good teams, AND how many points they score.
So far, the Heat just keep on showing why they are the BEST team in the NBA.
The first game they saw something new, a dominating defense, and had they scored the last few minutes, probably would've won. The next two games, while close, the Heat still found a way to have Wade score 40 and 37, and shaq's picked it up too. With some help from the Jonses from downtown, I don't think anyone will beat the heat in a series

The Suns have been really dissappointing in the playoffs. I hoped they'd beat the Spurs as I'm not keen on the defensive teams.

Pistons looked sharp last night, but you have to admit: early foul trouble on Shaq helped them out. With all the Larry Brown distractions, hopefully they can concentrate on winning the next one: crucial game 5 in Miami.
Come on Suns, I know you can take the Spurs. Big game 5 tonight.
Also, the Pistons have a huge disavantage due to the fact that Brown is a big a-hole.

I don't see why a defensive game doesn't interest you guys. Everything matters - I mean every free throw, layup, steal, etc. By the time the end of the game rolls around, it will be so tight and tense you won't know what hit you. Defensive games are like the LA - SA series from last year. All I have to say is "They get it into Fisher....."

TD gets all of the respect from me, he is an outstanding player. The best in the leauge IMO. I may have been bashing him earlier, but I still respect him 100%.
Manu Ginobli on the otherhand, is why I am rooting against the Spurs. He is the biggest flopper I have ever seen play basketball. I mean, go back to Argentina and play soccer if you are going to do that, please don't ruin the NBA with that crap. He is a good player, but he gets way to many calls, when easily seen, it was a big flop. If it wasnt for his flopping, than maybe the Nuggets could have had a chance to win the series against the Spurs.
But I am not gonna start bashing the Spurs any more. I am jut gonna wish them luck, as the past 2 NBA Champions collide to win #2 in 3 years.

Anybody else annoyed at the media's ripping of this series? Several radio stations here in the LA area were complaining about the low score and lack of "superstars". ESPN's "Outside the Lines" even got in on the act. Seriously, these are the two best TEAMS in the NBA. The game was close for 3 quarters. The ball movement and players moving w/o the ball is A LOT more entertaining than watching eight guys standing around watching a "superstar" go one-on-one. Why are people hating on the series?

The reason is the media loves points, they like things to put on their highlight reels, like dunks, etc.
But media should put in great blocks, defensive stops, ect...
A good defensive game is funner to watch, than a game with a lot of scoring.

I diagree with both this statement, and the overall assessment that this is a por series.
I don't mind a lot scoring.
It is how you score that determines whether it is fun to watch. A lot of motion w/o the ball anfd crisp passing would do wonder.
But, this isn't 1988 anymore, and Magic and Earl the Pearl are long gone.
Both of these teams play the closest to that, SA more so than Detroit, because they have deeper offensive talent and can bring more frsh bodies out.
I just wish that the NBA, as a whole, ahd better jump shooters and FT shooters.

i will tell you the real problem with the series and why it is labelled as boring (with i agree with a little).
there are no great teams in the finals!!!!! if these 2 played the old philli, lakers, celtics, bulls teams of the past they would get HAMMERED.
there is no great offense or defense play, just solid.
also, the pistons were so bad in the 1st 2 games it was ridiculous! it wasnt great pressure by the spurs D, the pistons just kept missing easy shots, again and again and again.
the other problem in game 2 was the refs giving every little play 2 the spurs. the pistons play aggressive D but the refs took that away from them and gave the spurs everything.

Tayshaun and Rasheed haven't been having a good series. Rip has been doing pretty well but not his best. Chauncey has been playing decent but can be better like Rip. Ben has really stepped it up both offensively and defensively this year.

Spurs have got to do a better job of protecting the ball. Early turnovers doomed them in last 2 games. Fell too far behind and kind of just rolled-over. Seems Tony Parker is the only one who can handle ball pressure and traps. They've got to force the issue by driving into the paint. Make refs blow their whistles. Settling for jump shots that were falling in San Antonio but aren't in Detroit. Also, what's up w/TD? He's catching the ball too far from the basket. He can't take Ben Wallace off the dribble. Needs to get deeper position.

Since I was born!
For me, since McDyess went to the team. :heh:
I think that Basketball, on the professional level, has gone down hill
When a star player of a basketball team decides if a coach is fired or who is traded (see Bryant), there is a problem with the team, but when that team is the norm of the league, as the NBA has shown, there is no hope for the league.
When there are more people that follow the college level on average than on the national level, there is something wrong. The problem being that many NBA players seem to notice one thing about Basketball: How much money it makes them.
I don't care who agrees with me, but this is the one reason that I will never truly follow NBA games, If half the players on the team don't care, why should I?
That is my feeling about the NBA too. Except the last part. Most of the players do care, except some are greedy and want more money. But everybody plays to win, that is why the players want to trade the other players, or get a new coach, just so they can win.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
Game 7!!!!!!!!
Pistons win 95-86!!!!!
Take that and shove it down your a** B4Bronco, Pistons can win in San Antonio, and they did win.

Thursday night for all the marbles... let's see if the Pistons can close them out.
They've won 3 of the last four and only blew game 5 when Rasheed had a brain fart and left Horry wide open for the 3 and they couldn't get a final basket....
Momentum flowing all towards Detroit right now.

Actually, Snk also admited that the Spurs played better yesterday. He said that the Pistons deserved to loose with the way they were playing.
But me, I still think that the Spurs should of been out of the playoffs after game #7. The Nuggets should have won that series. But Manu Ginobli decided to play some soccer, and start flopping like crazy.

Actually, we are almost as good as the Spurs. You guy's only have us beat at 2 positions. Center and SG. Camby is good, but he is not great. Duncan is great. And if you don't recall, our starting SG got injured in the 2nd game of the season, and was out for the year, so a quality player like Vashon Leonard, could have helped us excell in the playoffs.
But watch out for us next year. If we get a good SG from Free Agency, then we should be a top team in the leauge.
Wait, isn't Michael Redd going to be a FA. I believe so. You just better hope he doesn't come to Denver.

Actually whoever the starting SG for Denver was garbage. Wasn't it Posey?
Mello isnt as good as everyone thinks. I dont see whats so special about him. Also Den. thinks they have a good PF in Keynon Martin....... who has been owned by TD every year in the league.
So no....... Den is not better the SA....... not by far.

While the Nuggets pushed the Spurs, I do not believe they are as close as you think.
They are missing some things, like team dynamics, and maturity, and a true SG.
And unlike Popovich, Karl's coaching style gets results, but only in limited windows. He has a tendency to wear on his players. He's a great coach, but prickly. SO you'd better hope that next season is a deep playoff run, because after that, who knows?
I'd also say they have Denver beat at 3 positions (Parker, Ginobli, and TD).
Anyway, I am excited about a game 7 for all the marbles. Hasn't happened in 11 years.
It should be close. I am leaning slightly toward the Spurs, only because I can't see them getting chumped like that twice in a row at home.
But Detroit is very capable of winning it.

Yes they are........ they have done it before...... not just once but like 4 times also..........
Jared, I don't know how you think that Parker is any better than Dre Miller. Both PG's are inside type of players, that don't have a very good long ball, but Miller is better at getting the ball to his team mates, something that Parker doesn't do as much of. I am not taking anything away from Parker, he is a great player, but I honestly think he shoots to much and doesnt pass enough. The PG position isn't supposed to shoot the ball that much, they are supposed to be good ball handlers, and great passers.
Also, like I said, Michael Redd is probably going to be a FA next year. He is the true SG that we need. The Nuggs have also shown interest towards him, so that is a good thing too.

i would love detroit to win tonight, they play hard, tough and have attidue. very good to watch. the spurs look like a very soft team that have no charisma and are boring.
it makes me laugh when ppl say how good ginobili is at driving to the basket, any time he gets stopped the refs give a foul on detroit after he moans.
why cant the spurs get some life and action and character into there game instead of playing like little girls and *****ing all the time.
here's to ben wallace chumping ginobili tonight -

Only a few hours to tip off, time for Wallace & Wallace to show their stuff.
They've won 3 out of 4 and look strong. As long as Pistons D's can hold up and their offense can keep pace with San Antonio in the first half.

I say Parker is better because he is better.
Their assist to turnover ratio is virtually identical.
But Parker scores more because he is a FAR better outside shooter, which a guard should be. It's not like he is Marbury or Francis who see assists as secondary to scoring.

Exactly. Hopefully, Rip, Rasheed, and Tayshaun step it up, so far they've had a bad series at San Antonio. Rasheed and Tayshaun showed promise last game but I'd like to see more from them. I know they can do better. Rip has been missing easy shots. And we all know Rip is better than what he's shown.
