Spurs? What a JOKE!

Grizzlies = Patriots

The Grizz at one point this season without Pau Gasol (the closest thing we have to a star), Stromile Swift, Jason Williams, James Posey, or (not entirely sure here, but pretty sure on this one) Mike Miller beat the Top Record Phoenix Suns (with Steve Nash). I call that this year's Patriots.

My Pick:

Grizzlies - Pistons. Grizz in 6.

Yeah, I went to a couple Wizards games earlier this season. I was in DC for three months, I saw the Nuggets beat the Wizards and then I saw the Wiz beat the T-Wolves. Both were awesome games. The MCI Center is an awesome arena. I was dissapointed I wasn't able to attend a Caps game.

I hope the Phoenix Suns go all the way. I think they're a great bunch of players both on court and off court. I like the way they play and love watching Nash. Just hope they can get past the Spurs though. I have a feeling they're going to be tough opponents to get past.

Knicks and the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Patrick Ewing will come out of retirement and show shaq a thing or two about pretty fade-aways...that is all.

This post can't be serious, I doubt the Grizz will more than 1 game against the Suns. if that. The only teams that will challenge the Suns are teams with tall post presence that can contain the paint allowing the the outside defenders to challenge the threes. Ala Houston(Yao), San Antonio (Duncan) Miami (Shaq) and Detroit (Wallace). The rest including the Grizz will not be able to defend them. Suns 4-1 over Memphis in round one.

The thing is Denver hasn't been on a roll lately, they have lost to Houston and Pheonix, and their winning streak is 1 game, and that is against the Jailblazers, and they almost lost that game.

NO its not, but the last couple of games have been bad. But you can make an excuse "The Nuggets didn't have Marcus Camby, so the games should have been lost." But still, 1 player doesnt change the whole team. If he did, then we would have had the best team in the leauge by adding K-Mart.

It was brutally ugly. :ugh: They couldn't sink a shot to save their lives! I think they finished around 35%. Terrible. Everytime they showed signs of coming back, the Spurs would shut em down.

However on a good note, I kinda thought we would lose last night's game but not that bad. So hopefully they got that out of their systems! So get loud and crazy Pepsi Center!

No way. The Nuggets are the 5th best team at home this year. And under GK, we have lost 1 game. Are you on crack?

TD is the second toughest guy to match up with in the NBA, after Shaq. Maybe you put Garnett in there

He is an assassin, and he plays great d.

Nene hasn't show me jack, and Camby is great in spurts, but he can't stay on DUncan for the whole game.

TD made shots last night, the Nuggs get spanked. If he plays well, Spurs win. Very easy math.

The nuggest play good D now. SO that's a wash.

Whoplays more consistently? San Antonio.

The Nuggets run hot & cold in games. You can't DO that against San Antonio

It doesn't matter anyway. Unless Duncan is 100%, the SPurs can't win the West. If the SPurs don't win the West, Det or Mia wins it. They are the only team who can match up will with either team.

And I am a Western Conference guy.

No way george Karl should be the 2nd best head coach this year. He coached a very small amount of games compared to Pop... or Van GUndy.

NBA writers don't know crap. TD know's who he is... and he stated he was at least 85% last game...... but he played like 100. 24 pts 9 rebs............ good luck on the next game K mart.

And to go to the SBC center and "take" home court? it was an even series at 1-1. Maybe you didn't know that because it's old news..... just like when you said the NBA writers stated TD won't be 80%...... OLD NEWS!

i know the series is 1-1, we have still took home court from you.

the spurs seem like a one-man team, everyone keeps saying that TD has to play real good for the spurs to win but have you got anyone else who can step up?

'melo has struck out in the 1st two games (by his standard) but we still took game 1 because of players like camby, nene, k-mart, etc...................

so its TD or broke for you then?

Bad calls! Tim Duncan gets his way with everything. Even though he fouled out, he had like 15 plays that should have been a foul before that, not just 1 play. Also, horrible calls on K-Mart. And, those bad calls on those 2 blocks that got called for goal tending. Melo got his head above the rim, and K-Mart just straight out blocked that ball.

NJfan26

the main problems with the Nugs is that we don't have a good 3 point shooter, our inside man, Camby, doesn't play the inside he can't post up, we try to go on breaks (mostly when earl has the ball) when its 2 players on 4 favoring the other teams. Also KENYON MARTIN is the laziest M***** F***** in the world. I live in New Jersey and i am huge Nets fans, so i watch them all the time, last year Kenyon was a monster. he played with heart and determination, but now all he does is stand there looking for the ball to come to him, he doesn't move around with any kind of determination. You see Melo play with heart and determination, fighting with Bowen for position under the boards trying to post up no one else on the team is playing with that kind of heart so that why were down 3-1

Boo-hoo. Wah.

Tim Duncan is the most fundamentally sound player in the league. The calls go his way because he is rarely out of position.

K-Mart is a dirty player and would foul out a lot more if refs didn't let crap slide as it is.

If the refs actually called an NBA game by the book, games woudl take 4 hours. And TD would probably STILL get the calls.

Also, goaltending is not a call made depending on where a player's head is positioned but where the ball is in its arc.

I don't even like the Spurs, but how can you be so blind to the fact that the Nuggets are clearly inferior? They needed an awesome second half just to be a 7 seed.

Yes Jared. We were the "inferior" team but showed gained a lot of respect in the last 40 games.

The Nuggets are young and still learning. I was dam proud of them for getting this far and putting up a great fight.

The Spurs are an experienced team that have played together a lot longer than the Nuggets.

Game 4 was a ridiculous foul fest and blaming the refs is not correct.

Point is, they HAD an awesome half! Do you think they did that as an "inferior" team? Somehow, as glorified doormats, they came within ONE game of going undefeated in the regular season at home after Karl's arrival and had a winning record on the road. I don't get the logic behind that comment. They came close to climbing clear to 6th. If Karl had arrived sooner they would have finished even a higher seed.

So K-Mart is Denvers "assassin" player. Every team has one, if they're smart. San Antonio's is Ginobili. Sometimes he looks more like an offensive guard in a drive-blocking maneuver. So what? That's pro basketball.

The only thing I can see of which you are correct is Tim Duncan, the best player in the league.

K-Mart is not a go to guy, assassin or not. Unlike Anthony, he is not as capable of creating his own shot and does not posses Anthony;s range either. Carmelo NEEDS to be the guy in the clutch, as he is the most versatile athelete on the squad. Until that happens, they will struggle in the playoffs. K-Mart is at his best as a complimentary player who will play tough d and slash to teh basket, and maybe sink an occasional 15 footer.

And even if they had climbed to 6th, they still would have an inferior team to the SPurs. San Antonio may not be as fun to watch (and they aren't even close on that), but they win close games. They win consistently. They won without their best player at times. All things the Nuggets have to learn to do. They should be able to win 55-60 games next year, if they learn anything from this series.

Exactly. If they learn anything, as you expressed, they should be a juggernaut. The first thing they should learn from the Spurs is belief. The Nugs went into the series with the hopes of coming out with a win. The Spurs went into it knowing they were going to win. That may have been the biggest difference between the teams.

The Nugs were banged up, but so were the Spurs--and one of the nagging, range-limiting injuries was to the one and only Tim Duncan. So they had little excuse there.

It is also true that as Carmelo goes the Nuggets go. But he has got to develop his midrange shot! I just hope Karl sees this and, more important, Melo sees this. However, you must admit that the Nuggets are also a different team with K-Mart. Once he came to the team, they were no longer "soft." With a health Nene and Camby next year, they will be the antithesis of "soft." But they can grunt and groan and elbow and fart underneath the basket all night and beat up the other team, but if they don't put the ball through the hoop, they might as well join the WWE.

That's my take, anyway, for what it's worth.

I'm of the opinion that pretty much 80% of NBA players need to develop a midrange shot. :P If even one guy on every team did, the game would flow so much better.

The Nuggets are better with K-Mart than without. I never claimed that.

If they struggle again, you have to wonder if it is just not the right mix of players.

I still think Camby and Nene aren't going to be able to stop Duncan though, regardless of their health. Need to try and figure out something there....trade, a find in Europe...something.

Well, then, if a couple were to develop a midrange shot, think of the advantage they would have over many other teams. As I implied, San Antonio has it.

Regarding Duncan, I don't think they necessarily have to stop him. Nobody can, anyway. If they stop the rest of the team, he can run wild, and the Nugs can still beat them. Ya think?

Regarding the second portion:

The problem there is that the Spurs are very fundamental and technical. They play what some term a boring form of basketball, but as the son of a coach, I see nothing worng with playing intense defense, understanding rotations, moving without the ball, passing accurately, and sinking jumpers if the post player is not available. Most NBA players don't come from an environement where the game is played like that, and most teams don't play like that.

Stopping everyone else cam be very difficult, as Ginobli and Parker will take opportunites when the other is covered. They are just a good team. Notjust a collection of talent, like the Trailblazers were for all of those years.

There lies a secret of many dynasty teams. The Packers of the early 60s were not the most talented team of their day. They were simply the best team. Same with the 1997-98 Broncos (except Elway, who was the best). Same with the Patriots of the last few years. Throw out Duncan, and the Nuggets have just as much talent--and nearly as much with him (and may have as much even with him if Melo would develop that dang shot!--and play more consistent defense). What makes the Spurs special is that they are a team, a well-oiled machine. And, Jared, they believe. True, rabid, fervent belief can put you over the top of many an otherwise superior opponent.

Edit: After thinking about it, to say the Nuggets had as talented a team during these playoffs is ridiculous. Nene rode the bench because of his injuries. They went ahead and put Lenard back on IR so he will not be at risk. K-Mart was playing on one leg. And Melo didn't know which way was up until this last game (too late). That, my friend is erosion of talent. The Nugs didn't come near the Spurs. Maybe next year . . .
