What is the saddest song that you know of?
I have 3 suggestions:
"Have you ever seen the rain?" by Creedence Clearwater Revival
"One" by U2
"Come to my window" by Mellissa Etheridge

Cult of Luna -- Crossing Over
Traces in snow
A red line grows through and leads me below
Nothing on this side ties me
One step, one glimpse of an eye
One moment can change everything
Wait here 'til my words spread across the sky
And into the chambers of every soul
One step, one glimpse of an eye
One moment can change everything
Wait here 'til my words spread across the sky
And into the chambers of every soul
Strictly instrumental for seven minutes, then a harmonic voice comes in. Very soft, and in the repeat of "One step..." there is a hoarse voice contrasting the harmonic one, adds a lot to the song itself.

"You're Gone" - Diamond Rio
"I Sang Dixie" - Dwight Yoakam
"The Change" - Garth Brooks
"Baby Blue" - George Strait
"Marina Del Ray" - George Strait
"Letters From Home" - John Michael Montgomery
"Hurt" - Johnny Cash

"Smokey Mountain Rain" - Ronnie Milsap
"Every Light In the House Is On" - Trace Adkins
"Keeper of the Stars" - Tracy Byrd
"What Mattered Most" - Ty Herndon
"Slow Burnin' Memory" - Vern Gosdin
Rock
"Desperado" - The Eagles
"You Don't Know How It Feels" - Tom Petty (kindof sad, in a depressing way)
"Back On Earth" - Ozzy Osbourne
"Mama I'm Coming Home" - Ozzy Osbourne
"See You On The Other Side" - Ozzy Osbourne
"Come Down" - Bush
"What's This Life For" - Creed
"What It's Like" - Everlast

The Becoming- Nine Inch Nails
Everytime I hear it, it reminds me how much I feel like what the lyrics say and it is scary...
Check it out if you want to know what I am saying... It is off the Downward Spiral album...

Man I could pick like so many...but I'll go with a few that I can think of at the moment:
"Dear Joan" --Rob Thomas.
"Letters From Home" --I guess it's John Michael Montgomery...but the video really adds to it.
"Two Beds and a Coffee Machine" --Savage Garden
"Still Be Free" --Savage Garden
"Black Balloon" --Goo Goo Dolls
"Hang" --Matchbox20
"Kody" --Matchbox20
"You Won't Be Mine" --Matchbox Twenty
"Hand Me Down" --matchbox twenty
"I Grieve" --Peter Gabriel
"If God Will Send His Angels" --U2
"Leaving On A Jet Plane" --Chantal Kreviazuk
"Time After Time" --any artist who covers it...
"It Can't Rain All The Time" --Jane Siberry (The Crow).
There are so many! I'll think of more later perhaps.
