I had a surreal conversation with my Dad last Tuesday, I was watching Back to the Future part 3 and we started talking about the old westerns and for some reason we got into a heated debate on who would win in an real fight between John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. I was on the side of Clint and my Dad debated on behalf of Wayne (we both had quite a bit to drink during the afternoon ).
My Dad said that John Wayne was much stronger and would probably just beat the **** out of him. Me in my drunken haze argued that Clint would let his Orangutan on to him and John Wayne would die (as I said I was drunk at the time) so I lost the argument. They were both pretty big dudes although I think Eastwood is a little taller but a little thinner also.

It's probably a topic that has been debated before, but I would like to know who you think would win in a real life fight between Clint Eastwood and John Wayne when both men were in their primes.

My bet is on Stephen Hawking, he'll enter right when they kill eachother and he'll do burnouts on his motorized wheelchair to celebrate his victory.

I'd give a gun-fight to Eastwood, but I'd give a fist-fight to John Wayne.

Hands down The Duke. He was one big bad ass dude. Fist fight or gun fight, army movie or western John Wayne was the man.

Also...and I could be wrong...but didn't John Wayne actually serve in the military? If so that puts him head and shoulders above Eastwood.

Doing all the war movies that he did, does not mean he served. He was born in Winterset, Iowa, was 6' 4" tall and played tackle at USC. He tried to enlist at 34 but was turned down. It woudl surely be a draw b/c the Duke would never quit and neither would Clint. Once they realized that, they would stop and exchange a "let me buy you a beer".

I voted a stalemate, then drink beer...I can't see either one losing...but I have seen both drink beer or whiskey after they have been beaten up quite a few times..

I think Jon Wayne, because was probably a dirty fighter, and a mean drunk to boot.

Clint is more gentlemanly and would not fight unless he HAD to.

Now, in a gunfight, Eastwood hands down.

Stalemate is what I'd say.

Eastwood was such a badass, I can't in good faith vote against him.

I say stalemate... 2 heroes can't kill each other. I like both of them though they have not the same "style" (hope it's a good word)

My point is that both of them have a dark side... May be John Wayne was more brutal, and Clint more cynical... ?

Can you explain me the word smoothie ? (I think I understand, but I would like to be sure)...

Clint Eastwood, John Wayne was a Racist Bastard from what I have heard. Anyway, I don't really care about either of the two. I'm not into the Western stuff.
