Try not to vote until you've actually seen the film since you can't change your mind later. ;)
I just thought a poll would help get a feel for how Broncomaniacs liked the movie. So, let's hear it....

I liked it a lot, I love the fact that it is a very dark movie.
Without syaing to much, I've known for years WHAT happened but seeing the HOW, especially in such spectacular style was great. I envy a workmate of mine, who having not seen the original trilogy is going to see the entire story for the first time in chronological rather than production order. I have warned him not to be put off my Phantom Menace though and stick with it. :D

Just got back from it.
Benny, you might not want to read this.................
let me start with, I read the book first. In this case, that might have been a mistake. The book gave soooo much more of the story. Many scenes that are not in the movie. BUt thats nothing new, I expected that.
Also, this movie is 2 hours and 20 minutes long. You would think thats long enough to conver the story, but after seeing it, I didnt think so.
The scenes seemed rushed. You go from one to the next to the next without any time to drink it in or think about it. Like on a rollercoaster. I didnt notice this in any of the five other movies. You had time to absorb them as you went on the ride, but not this one. Bang bang bang and it over........
I felt Lucas was just plugging the holes, spitting out the connections to get it over with. And doing it as fast as possible.
Also, The acting. This was the biggest suprise to me. Every actor in this movie has done this before, and should be able to just step into character. But they seemed to be rushing, just spitting out the lines. The faces were the same, but they just didnt make me believe they were the characters I know. Lines seemed to lack emotion. The only one who convinced me at all was the Emperor, and only after his confontation with Mace, well into the movie. Even Vader, at the very end, didnt seem like the Vader we know. He was TOO emotional for Vader.
However, that being said, I liked the special effects, and the story, of course. I just thought they rushed thru it. It could have been an hour longer.
TDK and I bantered over wether the book or the movie gives the true representation. Both are by directed or written by other people. In a book, you get the author's vision, but in as movie, you get the directors. Lucas directs this one, so the movie must be more true. Right? Not necessarily! Although he is a fine storyteller, and producer, as a director, he's constrained by budgets and time limits. And that showed in this movie. My guess is he would have liked to make this one longer, and more detailed.
Good movie, not great. I liked the book better............

Well, I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one.
I won't go into all the details so I'll just say this: Despite having way too many minor complaints about the movie, when I sat back and reflected on whether or not I enjoyed it, I decided that overall I still sort of enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I wanted to enjoy it a lot more than "sort of." :ugh: It was a disappointing way to close out the series. Perhaps I'm just too critical because I'm a diehard fan of the original trilogy.
But at least Jar-Jar barely made an appearance and didn't say a word and 3P0 didn't spoil any scenes with his stupid one-liners.

i loved the movie, but i still feel they tried to squeeze too much into this movie. IMO they could have damn near made another movie for just the last half hour of this one.

I loved that movie, and I especially loved the scene in the beginning with all of the cruisers and (for lack of a better word) ships fighting over that planet. I am not a Star Wars fanatic, so I am not critical on what was or wasn't there or how emotional or not the characters were, but I enjoy the action and the special effects, and just how the director attempts to bring the audience into the movie.

Ok, I loved this movie. THe action was awesome and so were the fight scenes. Great movie, would recommend seeing. Yoda was awesome. Gen. Grevious was also awesome. The way the Jedi all died though was sad. :( Darth Vadar's first breath was chilling. The final fight was awesome they were moving sooooooooooooo fast same with Yoda Vs. Sidious. Sad that Yoda's last lightsaber duel ended in a loss. At the end it was cool how they set up the same igloo adn stuff from Episode IV
Here's my nitpicks:
They made the acting rather stiff. They made Padme seem like a dumb blonde (She was still hot :D) They also made her like a sex machine. Anakin and her were always kissing. The scene after Anakin kills Mace Windu was rather wierd. He's like "WHAT HAVE I DONE!?" and suddenly he just said he'd do anything for the Sith Lord dude. Palpatine (Sidious) should have said, "Now you can never go back"
Yoda shouldn't have lost (but that's just me being a homer)
This didn't make sense: Obi-Wan had trouble fighting Dooku and Anakin was able to defeat him. Obi-Wan kept getting knocked away and such. Then how did Obi-Wan beat Anakin? He loses at the beginning of the final fight but then they're trading blow for blow.
My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.
Go out and see it.
I just got back from the movie.
It made me cry, even though I loved it.
I can't believe that the 2 characters that I have grown to love, ended up dead. First, f*ing Skywalker had to kill Mace Win Du, one of my overall favorites characters out of the whole Stars Wars 6 movies. Then, the hot girl, Padme, decides that she wants to die, even though she was in perfect health. Man, this movie made me mad and sad. When Win Du died, I wanted to get up and just f*ing kill Skywalker, then when the Chancelor decided to kill all of the Master Jedi, I wanted to kill him too.
I cant wait for the movie to come out on DVD, cause when it does, I am gonna get the 6 pack.
Sorry for my bad language.

There are two ways to watch this movie. If you watch it with expectations you wont like it. Either reading the book first or having your own opinion on how things went from the original 3.
If you watch it with an open mind and dont expect miricals you'll love it. I agree it was a bit forced but the movie was too long for what it was and too short for what it could have been. I am not a fan of star wars but have seen all but episode 2. I loved this movie and might go and watch it again to perhaps pick up on some of the things i missed.
It was great seeing the fight scene with Yoda and the chancelor thanks to the new computer animations they were able to do things with him that they hadn't done before. That was an awesome scene.

Well, if you didn't see Episode II then you missed Yoda's original kick-ass scene. It was the best part of that movie. :)
You're probably right about the whole expectations thing. Unfortunately, most of us diehard fans of the original trilogy had definite expectations about Anakin's descent and about the quality of the new trilogy. I was definitely disappointed from that perspective although I'm trying to appreciate the film on its own merits.

I understand fully what you mean. Its the same with star trek and the enterprise series for me. Re-writing history and so on. I might have to see 2 then if yoda had a fight scene in it.

Yoda has an absolutely kick a$$ fight with Dooku in 2. Yoda's been one of the few charecters I've been able to get into with the prequels.
What happened to R2 anyway? In both 2 & 3 he's more than a little tasty at times, however in the original trilogy, although a trier, he seemed to have some of the 'options' removed.

Yeah, R2 is one of the inconsistencies between the original trilogy and the new one. While I'm sure they just didn't have the technology to do all his little tricks the first time around, I still wonder if Lucas would have had had R2 do so many little stunts.
It seems to me that Lucas goes more for the visuals nowadays than he does for characters that stay within their limits.

Actually, that part sort of upset me a bit, when the young kid going up to Anakin to protect them, and him firing up his lightsaber before the camera cut away. Maybe I'm just becoming a softie in my old age, but that, to my mind, wasn't neccesary to the film. The teenager getting cut down in front of Bail Organa fair enough, but you knew what an evil barsteward Anakin was from the way he slaughtered the entire Tusken camp in Attack of the Clones .
But like I say, I could just be getting soft in my old age :D

Allright, I finally got to see Episode III
It was OK. I wasn't overly impressed with any of it. I still think that alot of the dialog is crap and Lucas doesn't know how to direct his actors. I know Natlie Portman is one of the best Actresses out there yet in this movie, she is garbage. How Lucas manages to get such a cheesy performance out of her is beyond me. I agree with others and feel alot of things seemed forced. Most of the CGI was great but I really could have done without Obi Wan's lizard horse. I thought the R2-D2 stuff in the begining was cool but perhaps a little over the top. I thought it was funny when R2 kicked their butt and then those battle droids just kicked him over. Anakins turn to the Darkside seemed rather sudden. He went from "No, I'm going to kill you Palptine!" to "Yes, Master" in like 5 minutes. Sure there was build up from Attack of the Clones but I just think his transistion was excuted rather poorly. Darth Vadar's "NOOOOOOOOO!!" line was pure cheese. On the plus side, I thought Ewan McGregor really nailed the Obi Wan role and was the best actor of the bunch. He really seemed to pick up Alec Guiness's mannerism's and for a moment I actually thought I was looking at a younger version of Alec Guiness. I really loved the battle in the begining even though it was probably overkill. I know that this movie will give me lots of freeze frame moments and "Wow, look at that ship" on my DVD player for years to come.

Give Portman a break. She was playing a preggo.

Good movie, just got back from seeing it. I liked the opening sequence and the final fight scenes. I thought Obi-Wan was going to try and turn Anakin back from the dark side. In ROTJ Luke said that he could feel the good in Vader, and Vader said "Obi-Wan once thought as you did" but in the movie Obi-Wan really didn't try and turn Anakin back from the Dark Side. But Padmae said there was still good in him.
Anyways I am just rambling, it was a good end to the movies that has stretched for roughly 28 years.

I liked it, some nitpicks tho:
Yoda, just running away after dropping his saber, I mean he's a freakin' Jedi.
It's war, they're out there to kill him, so he's out there to kill them. He don't care about anybody but this Jedi. They're going after his legs. He's going to come right back at them. He's a ... Jedi.
Vader's Noooooooooooo! moment. It was cheesy as all hell, and they could've easily cut it.
Padme dying, I mean yea, it has to fit w/ the rest of the trilogy, but it seemed so tacked on.

Actually that doesn't make it fit with the trilogy. In ROTJ , the scene between Luke & Leia when he tells her that Vader is his father & she's his sister, at Luke's prompting, Leia has some memories of her mother (Padme).
So unless Jedi can remember their births, that definitely counts as a boo-boo :D

I thought about that one, too. I'm sure that was the intent with Leia saying that she remembered her mother. But since she never gave a name, Lucas can just pretend that she was referring to her stepmother, I guess. :ugh:
Actually, now that I think about it, I think Luke qualified his question by saying, "...your real mother" and Leia says yes. Hmm... I'll have to go back and check that.

I thought that that was probably the best of the Jedi deaths. Considering that they were supposed to be able to sense events before they happened, I thought that the Jedi were taking down a little too easily.
I also liked the way it explained the Emperor's appearance.

I really liked this movie, 4 stars, but I have to pick on one thing, way too much CGI... I mean seriously, build a friggin set. Make some costumes. The worst of all was the part where Captain Cody gives obi wan his lightsaber back after he fights Grievous, the clone soldier body is all cgi, and the head isn't, it's so bad. You may have to watch it again, but his head bobbles around like it's unnattached, and it looks so bad and superimposed.

Wouldn't suprise me if that's what Lucas does, the way he's kept tweaking the original trilogy to meet his vision, whether we as fans like the tweaks of not, would suggest that he will if he's not 100% happy with it.
