saw this yesterday. highly recommended. to echo what you've probably already read, most people will considered it better than the first two (although i liked episode II personally. episode I on the other hand . . . "now that's what i call pod racing" . . . shudders). good story. good acting. good action. so what did you think?

Just got back from it. It was by far the best of the prequels, but I don't think that anything could match the magic of the original trilogy. This movie doesn't make up for fact that the first two were way below average IMO. The Clone Wars series that they showed on Cartoon Network was much better than the first two.

But I'm getting off the subject. The story, the pacing, and the action were all better in this movie than the other two. I won't watch it again for a while, and I won't file this in my mind as a classic but it was an enjoyable movie.

Decent story but the acting and dialog were horrible. The only one that did a decent job acting was Ewan McGregor. Lucas doesn't know how to direct actors. I know Portman is a better actress than she displayed in Sith yet she looked pretty cheesy in every scene. I liked the opening sequence and R2 kicking ass the best. I thought the final saber battle was "meh". It may have been better choregraphed from a technical stand point but it didn't carry ANY emotion. No where near the emotion of Luke vs Vadar in Return of The Jedi. I would GRADE the films like this.

1. Empire Strikes Back A+
2. A New Hope A
3. Return of the Jedi B+
4. Revenge of the Sith C+
5. Attack of the Clones C
6. The Phantom Menace C-

well i personally liked it. Its safe to say the first two were just fillers to get to this movie. this was the one Lucas had the main plans for i feel. That opening sequence was just topguns final dogfight scenes in space.

I didn't mind the movie, I thought it was OK, but clearly there are alot of people that fell into the Star Wars hype machine because honestly, there are ALOT of movies that are more deserving of the money that Sith got. Like I said, I think Batman Begins will be a better movie all around but it won't make anywhere near Sith money.

I gave a review in the other thread, so you can read that if you want.

I'll just say this movie would have been a lot better if it had been a lot longer. There's no reason it couldnt have been "Titanic" length. I wouldnt have minded a little reminder of the old days where you had an Intermission half way through. This chapter deserved more detail, and far better acting, which I know could have been had form this group.

It seems like not only was the movie itself rushed, but that the filming was rushed........

I'll see at least once more in theaters though.

^^^ It was 2 hours and 20 minutes long. Pretty long by today's standards. Today's movie goer rarely wants to sit down any longer than that. Another reason they make the movies shorter is so they can show it more times during the day and thus make more money. I do feel alot of the scenes were rushed though as well. First Anakin is like "I'm going to kill you Palpatine!" and then " Yes, Master" all within what seems like 5 minutes. I just think that Lucas is a mediocre director. He can't direct actors and he has no sense of editing or flow. He should have let someone else Direct like he did for Empire and Jedi.

True, but there have been exceptions. Titanic being one. Pearl Harbor being another. But yeah, I agree it's all about profits.

I think the average Star Wars fan would have sat thru a longer movie...........

Ohh yeah, I'm sure they would have.

There was alot of people that sat through the incredibly overated Lords of the Rings movies and they had a pretty long run time.

I liked three, everything for four seemed to come together....... and I could see it happening.

However the acting wasnt great....... Anakin still is very melodramatic and is dramatic at times he doesnt need to be, an not when he should

I think I can safely make a prediction here.

Hayden Christenson will never win an Acadmy Award for acting.

I will adopt that Grading scale thing as well:

I, The Phantom Menace: C
II, Attack of the Clones: C+
II, Revenge of the Sith: B+
IV, A New Hope: B-
V, Empire Strikes Back: B+
VI, Return of the Jedi: B+

That is how I feel..
