Well, I'm stuck here in my mum's office near Warren St. Everything happened just before I pulled into London. I was meant to visit my girlfriend, but I can't get to Victoria station. Great. I don't know what's happened exactly, what I do know:

Warren Street Station, Shepherd's Bush Station and Oval station are being searched by police, 6 Tube lines (Victoria, Northern, Bakerloo, Met line, Picadilly and Hammersmith + City lines) are suspended (along with the lines suspended indefinitely after 2 weeks ago). One bus in Hackney got the windows blown out on the top deck and another has a suspect package being checked out.

Apparently there've been detonators with no explosives, possible chemical attacks (but none reported so far). I've also heard that there may have been a nailbomb, but there's only been one reported injury so far.

I don't know everything yet, but there are plenty of leads for the police. All I hear are sirens and helicopters...also the University College London Hospital is surrounded by armed police. So what the hell is going on???

Blasts Hit 3 London Subway Stations, Bus
AP - 20 minutes ago
LONDON - Explosions struck three London Underground stations and a bus at midday Thursday in a chilling but less deadly replay of the suicide bombings that killed 56 people two weeks ago. Only one person was reported wounded, but the lunch-hour explosions caused major disruption in the capital and were hauntingly similar to the July 7 bombings by four attackers. The London police commissioner confirmed Thursday that four explosions took place in what he described as "a very serious incident."

Yeah, my sister's stranded though somewhere. I don't know whether they're very very evil hoaxes or something else. It's all a bit odd you know? Someone's been arrested outside Downing St. Gradually more and more and more places are being cordoned off. A diversion perhaps? I don't know...it's odd though to think that there weren't any explosives. I'll update as I hear more...

1547: Prime Minister Tony Blair says incidents such as Thursday's are designed to frighten people, adding: "We've just got to react calmly and continue with our business - as much as possible - as normal."

1545: Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair says the situation is "fully under control". He says there is no indication of chemical or other attack, and that there has been only one casualty - not a fatality.

Hmm, it seems that someone's trying to scare the UK by "proving" that there's no way of stopping the attacks even so soon after 7/7. That's the only explanation I can think of.

Weapons of Mass Inconvenience (to be perfectly honest).

...and that there has been only one casualty - not a fatality.

In most military and government jargon, "casualty" (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=casualty) means "fatality."

Weapons of Mass Inconvenience (to be perfectly honest).

That's the most effective way to shut down a modern society. It's not in the death toll... it's in the disruption of the business day.

Maybe in the US, but a "casualty" in the UK is an injury or a fatality. And we invented the language.

The official reports say "low casualties" which...well, I don't know what's happening. Seems to have calmed down though.

EDIT: hasn't shut down much at all in terms of work. To do that you attack during rush hour...

Glad to hear it's not a huge thing!

Seems pretty amateurish so far. Hope it stays that way.

From afar this is starting to look more like a copycat or, as you say, a "message". It doesn't look like another Al-Qaeda attack. Of course, to the people on the trains and busses (and all Londeners) I'm sure it doesn't really matter, they're just frightened beyond comprehension. Best wishes and God bless you all.

I work in central London and when I returned from lunch at 2pm it was all over the internet/radio etc...

Seems it's not a 'serious' incident but that still doesnt make me feel any better knowing I have to catch a tube home.

Helicoptors and police/emergency sirens have been going crazy outside our office which is about a 10 minute walk from one of the stations involved.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement guys, much appreciated.

Seems like they caught these ones.
Its still not fully known if it was completely incompetant (thankfully) bomb makers.
Or just really small explosives. Either way thankfully no-one was hurt and hopefully these idiots will squeal like piggies and give more info on various cells and groups in the UK. We cant search every single bag that gets into the subway or buses. So there is a chance this could happen a few more times.
