I went in with high expectations, and left with a sour taste in my mouth...
It's basically just a regular X-box... I am shocked.
It looks very nice, of course, (the graphics, not the system. The system itself looks like a tampon), Madden was incredible when it zoomed it (they seem to zoom in a friggin lot, as if to say 'LOOK, IT'S PRETTY!' ", but didn't look much different in the regular view. It also of course, had none of the features, but that will be remedied eventually.
The AI was horrible, WRs would literally dive the wrong way, and so many missed blocks. But once again, that's EA's fault, not Microsoft. Bottom line though, I didn't see 500 dollars worth of graphics there to rationalise ditching your current system.
The other game I played was Call of Duty.
Ok, I've seen better graphics on my cube than this game... the textures in some places were ****. Character models looked cool, though everyone has a glossy plastic sheen over them that kinda ruins it. What was cool I thought, were the death animations, heads snap back, your fellow troops get blown into the air by grenades....
But not 500 dollars worth of death animations.
My verdict? Wait until the Ps3/Revolution comes out (depending on your tastes) or at least wait until the X-Box price drops and they get some decent games, though I've heard Perfect Dark Zero is cool, if a step down from it's N64 counterpart.
I'm trying to remain unbaised here, but really, I wasn't impressed much at all. Cool how you can see the Reebok logo on the player's shoes, but not 500 dollars worth of cool.

IMO they rushed the release of the 360 they could have done a much better job...but they had to get it out b4 christmas so they could rake in the big bucks :duh:

The 360 hardware wise, is INCREDIBLE. I do agree that the "old" XBOX could have survived another year just fine.

Look at this, I just bought an amazing set of paints, some of the finest quality paints in the world. Cost me a lot, but damn it, it's worth is for paints this good. Sure, I can't paint worth ****, but these are the best paints availiable! Therefore I must be the best artist!

Gimmie a break.....compare the games 2 or 3 years from now when the programmers really know what the system can do. I would not even compare an original xbox launch game to the games that are sold for the xbox right now.
Unfortunately the gameplay will be much the same as the original Xbox and before. Great.

wow so this xbox thread turned into a us-canada ala south park battle. I have never bought a console within 6-8 months of its release. Call me crazy but I think it takes a little longer than that until developers figure out how use the full potential of the system. For those who bought the core 360 I dont feel sorry for you one bit. If you would have done your research you would have bought the right system package.
As far as PS3 how can anyone say it is in fact better? I have yet to see actual gameplay footage and until sony puts out a finished product then noone can actually say its better.

Five years for a heart transplant? I'm not sure where you get these numbers from, but while the wait may be longer in some instances in Canada than America, we still have the finest healthcare system in the world. Or, at least one of the finest, there are some great ones in europe.
Better to wait a little, than to be told your aren't covered for it and simply can't afford to pay for it yourself.

IGN got to try it out first hand along with some game developers, they're all singing it's praises. Some of the most innovative and smoothest control they've ever experienced. Especially for FPS games, and you don't hold your entire arm up, Nintendo recommends just resting it on your lap and moving your wrist a bit. Much more comfortable.

You cant judge the system until the developers start using it properly. When the PS3 or the Revolution first come out see if their launch title games are perfect.The Xbox 360 seems to be stressing graphics and online play, which were the original Xbox's strongsuits aswell. The PS3 looks like it may be the best system overall but we wont be able to really tell that till its playable, and even then im sure some people will think it not worth the fortune its gonna cost. The Revolution seems to be leaning towards just trying out new things, which can either be a really good thing or a really bad thing.If the remote/controller is awkward to handle some gamers may steer away from it.Then again if it works out like Nintendo seems to think it will then they will have virtually 1upped both Sony and Microsoft from atleast that standpoint. The bottom line is we wont know what any of these systems are capable of for quite awhile, ill reserve my judgement until atleast their all released.

Actually those "experts" are saying that if you are expecting better visuals for the PS3, DON'T. That is ripped right out of EGM. Couple that with the fact that the PS3 is supposed to be a pain like the PS2 was to program for, the graphics may not match what the 360 can do for sometime.

what experts would these be... from the articles I have seen... the ps3 can do more brute force calculations but doesn't help in the overall performance of a video game.. that goes to the 360.. if i can find it I will provide it... I dont see any article saying the ps3 will blow the 360 away... only the lil fanboys that cant learnt o bow to the better system

Xbox is way beter than PS2(Piece of S***)I used to have a PS2 but it sucked so bad I sold far an Xbox.Xbox 360 will own PS3.

Every system Nintendo has had since the SNES has flopped, except the countless revisions of the GB. This time will be no different. Nintendo's franchises are old, and tired. ....Nintendo held back Zelda for around the launch of rev..but said its a gamecube game.....I have a ps2...gamecube...xbox and xbox360...and my Gamecube is the least played system of them all...I have played all the first party titles on Gamecube metroid and the likes....but theres just TO many good titles out there to stop me from getting all the systems.......

The crap to good game ratio for PS2 and Xbox is horrible. Sony and M$ exclusives come nowhere near the standard of Nintendo's exclusives. These developers spend so much time tarting up the game that it's left with virtually no gameplay. Granted, the GC generation of exclusives weren't really up to it, but that's what happens when Nintendo try to conform to today's standards. In terms of a Nintendo revival, it's highly, highly likely.

Don't compare Zelda to Halo. It doesn't work considering the genre difference. Halo is, granted, good. But does it do much new for the FPS genre? Not really...if you plotted a graph of FPS improvement since Half Life 1 vs time, it's poor. Halo's anomalically above that norm, but not far above it. Besides, I found Metroid Prime much more interesting in terms of being different.
Let me describe to you the path of Zelda from OoT onwards: OoT provided 75+ hours of gameplay which kept people riveted to their consoles. It really was a step up in terms of 3D gaming and it was incredibly clever in many ways. Majora's Mask wasn't made by Shigsy, a great game, but yes, a bit more of the same. Wind Waker wasn't the greatest ever, but as I said, it's what happens when Ninty tries to conform to the normal. TP looks incredibly attractive. It's more of the same, but then again there are a ****load of subtle nuances and changes. Plus 100 hours of more riveting gameplay. It has brought incredible satisfction to all those who finish it, I expect this one to be no different. The gameplay will be quality. And then it'll be what? 100 hours/£30? That works out as 3 1/3 hours of QUALITY gameplay per pound. That's ****ing brilliant.
What new games will be coming out for it that attract attention? I dont think very many, thats how nintendo is, they had a few successes and keep kicking the horse.

Playing games, both old and new franchises in a completely different way and truly in 3d. Imagine playing FPS aiming with that thing. That's a big step up from what we have now.

You have no idea what the controller will do for this...it's so much more than just playing an old franchise mate. Trust me on this one. Many of the big cheeses in the industry (Kojima and Mikami to name a couple) have been wowed by this. I wouldn't write it off because it may well change gaming forever.

I expect all the systems to have pretty slow releases. I expect, out of the three, the Revolution to have the best game-wise as their main products are always pretty high-quality stuff.
I myself am not going to buy a new console for awhile. I never do when they first come out because the initial releases usually suck a bunch or are money-snatchers like the "Next-Gen Madden '06" which is obviously a shameless reach for more money by EA. And the graphics leap actually isn't all that big this console-generation: usually consoles outweight PCs, for example, but the Xbox-360 doesn't really seem like it at all and some of the titles feel only a little better than the regular Xbox's. Ah, anyway, I'll just wait till next year to see which system has the best games for me.

I do have to say that I find it funny how people are taking this so seriously and personnally. Everyone will have their own opinion on whats better or who has better graphics or games.
I think the halo series alone is good enough reason to buy an xbox/xbox360. Just like god of war makes me want a PS2. Gamecube had its game to play in the resident evil series.

It's weird how Canada is continually voted the best, or one of the best nations in the world to live in due to it's high education and health standards, and overall quality of life. Usually losing points only due to climate (ie: It's ****ing cold). But nope, some 13 year old on a football message board clearly knows better.

Allow me to explain.
The point of the Revolution is not to just continually upgrade the graphics to make the simple folk clap their hands for the amazing amount of polygons on the hooker they just ran over. It's about new control, almost a mouse, but even more accurate. The industry is completely blown away, this will change everything. Rest assured, 4 years from now the competition will be ripping off this idea too.
Can you tell a huge difference between the graphics on the Gamecube or the X-box original? Nope, and if you say otherwise you're lying or stupid. Hell, even the PS2, the visually weakest system of the three, is usually very close to, if not the same graphics wise as the other systems. Listen genius, every system Nintendo has put out since the NES to the Gamecube has had easily the highest profit margin of any system. Microsoft has yet to make a single penny off the X-box, if any other company was pushing that system, they would have gone bust by now. Microsoft though is expecting to possibly turn a small profit this gen. And while Sony does make some money off their systems, due to huge production costs and such, they still don't turn nearly as much as Nintendo.
Bottom line my handicapped friend? NINTENDO IS CONTINUALLY THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COMPANY. They ain't going anywhere 'boy'.

It's weird how Canada is continually voted the best, or one of the best nations in the world to live in due to it's high education and health standards, and overall quality of life. Usually losing points only due to climate (ie: It's ****ing cold). But nope, some 13 year old on a football message board clearly knows better.

The point of the Revolution is not to just continually upgrade the graphics to make the simple folk clap their hands for the amazing amount of polygons on the hooker they just ran over. It's about new control, almost a mouse, but even more accurate. The industry is completely blown away, this will change everything. Rest assured, 4 years from now the competition will be ripping off this idea too.
Can you tell a huge difference between the graphics on the Gamecube or the X-box original? Nope, and if you say otherwise you're lying or stupid. Hell, even the PS2, the visually weakest system of the three, is usually very close to, if not the same graphics wise as the other systems. I'll put Splinter Cell on XBOX against SC on the GC anyday. No way in hell can you tell me the graphics are on par with the XBOX. The GC is more powerful than the PS2 for sure though. Quality > quantity is a B.S. argument to use because quite frankly any gamer will tell you that doesn't have a blind nintendo fetish the xbox or ps2 has more quality than the gamecube.

And here's something funny, the highest scoring game on the PS2 is Resident Evil 4, that's right, the port of the original gamecube game.

The thing with the gamecube is that there are only a handful of exclusive games. What happens when you beat them? You have to wait at least 5, 6 months until another stellar exclusive is released. That doesn't really provide for their diehard fanbase.
In any case, those gamerankings mean just as much as the stank on my crack. Animal Crossing is... well.... I can't put into terms of how awesomely bad this game is. Yet, its ranked very high. Why? I really don't know, you're going to have to ask those guys that rank these games.
Gun wasn't ranked well because its not as "innovative" as Animal Crossing, yet no words describe how much better it is than A.C. Unless, of course, you are 12 years old and have a fetish for pigs and chickens, be my guest.
Yet you judge games you've never played, something I never do. It says it in your sig, "trust, but verify". Try verifying for once.

....Nintendo held back Zelda for around the launch of rev..but said its a gamecube game.....I have a ps2...gamecube...xbox and xbox360...and my Gamecube is the least played system of them all...I have played all the first party titles on Gamecube metroid and the likes....but theres just TO many good titles out there to stop me from getting all the systems.......

while I am playing them all...and I don't see nintendo being any Different next gen..even with there system that can play any nintendo game ever made for there systems....ps3 and xbox360 will have games that will only be on there systems and make it worth it to own them..
oh btw....I don't see the PS3 coming out anytime soon..maybe November of next year....right smack into the 2nd Gen of Xbox360 games
btw nintendos system will never match a hi def system on a HDTV or computer screen...and nintendo has said more then once that the rev is not HD.......but Graphics are not what I look for in Games...I want game play...but systems sell on Graphics just watch
I couldn't agree more. Each system will have games that kick ass, but they will only be for a specific system. If you wanna bash something, bash that. I own a GC, 360, and PS2. I will get a Revolution and a PS3 to go with my 360. For the most part, I play the XBOX more than anything else. My GC is our family game console. My kids, my wife and I all play that as a family. The GC is more family oriented(my opinion). Though, Resident Evil 4 was awesome on the Cube. Not too mention when a console comes out, the 1st wave of games are normally not that great. So relax, the fun is just beginning.
