So I am liking our chances, but assuming our season ends sooner than expected, what would it take for us to not flip out and find a new Coach, I think (And I dont speak for the city, just in general terms)...I think we need to at least win a playoff game...to keep everyone's job safe u know. I think we will beat whoever comes here, but if we play in INDY, we are gon take it to em this year, maybe not beat em but we will make one hell of a game out of it!

Any thoughts....or am I to be blamed for thinking in real terms here!?

Oh I am sure the fire Shanny threads will be flying if we don't make it all the way.

I think we will get our first win "since Elway left" and end that streak. I too like our chances against the teams that could come to Denver in the second round. Our team has been healthy this year and playing well.

But "realistically" I am still afraid of the Colts. I don't think my heart or these boards could stand another blow out. If we do in fact meet the Colts for the AFC Championship game, I will not sleep a wink the night before and I will need lots of beer in the frig for the game.

Do you seriously think it possible that Shanahan will be fired if the Broncos get beat in the playoffs this year?? That seems unlikely to me. I mean, who would we replace him with??

Even if we can't make it out of the divisional round, I really doubt that Bowlen would consider getting rid of Shanahan.

The most winningest coach since 1995. Not likely. He has a few more good years on him, regardless of what some fans think.

The GM has already told Shanny he can stay for as long as he wants.... he will not be fired.

Better yet, it was Bowlen himself who said Mike's here as long as he wants to be... I'd be fine with, like, another 20 years.

Shanahan has better job security than anyone else in the league, including the commissioner and Peyton Manning.

Unlike most teams, I believe that Shanahan ranks above the GM. This is why he has the title of the executive vice president of football operations.

This means that he outranks the GM on this team. A lot of the media thinks that this means that he is both the head coach and the GM and that's not the case, but he has the final say, while the GMs of other teams have the final say. It's really just a technicality.

Plus we have taken another step forward this year even if we lost the 1st playoff game..Last 2 years we just made the playoffs,,this year we won the AFC west and got the 2nd seed,to me thats progress!

GOOOOOOOOOOOO BRONCOS!!!

Shanny could take a crap on Bowlens head and not get fired this year. There are 9 openings now, 2 in our conference (although Shanny wouldnt go back to Oak, and Herm Edwards looks as if he will be in KC). Either way the coaching pool will be a little shallow for us, and any other team would love to have Shanny.

I'm with you on Cowher, but I think the ice under Fisher warms up if he doesn't get something happening soon... Poor guy, he has to improve in a division, that top to bottom, might be as tough as ours, or a close second, at least with the top 2 teams. He's running a distant third.
But, this is about Shanny, and looks like not too many people think he's going down anytime soon, if at all, ever.

When a coach leads you to a playoff spot why would you fire him?

And are you talking about Shanahan or Kubiak?

I personally love Shanny and I think Pat would be crazy to let him go. This especially holds true because of the slim pickin's out there.

My point is that the fans and people that come to these boards will light this place up with fire Shanny, Shanny has to go and basically wanting Shanny's head on a platter. Getting one win will certainly calm most down but if we get blown out by the Colts or even lose the Super Bowl, I won't be around here for awhile because of the negativity that is displayed here after a loss.

If Shanny can keep his job after the last two playoff fiascos, there's no way he will lose it this year.
