My family and I recently moved from Wa to ND and got alot of radio time. Thank goodness for sallelite radio. Something I never realized and the sports analysts really stressed on was Denver is 0-2 when going 13-3 coming into the playoffs - 1984 and 1996. It seems in their eyes because of this omen and because they believe the Pats are coming to town, the Broncos have no chance. I know the Broncos are at home but a wounded Pats team came into Denver some weeks ago and if they'd had one more quarter the Broncos would have lost the game. I hope the Broncos show up fired up and don't take for granted they're at home. I'll keep the faith but it'll be interesting next weekend. GO BRONCOS!!

the broncos the Pats faced are no more. They play the whole game to win now. I doubt it'll be them Denver face anyway.

This is not the same Broncos team, and quite frankly not the same Patriots team. The Broncos will be ready for anyone that comes to our house, and I highly doubt any team stands a chance in Invesco this year against us regardless of who it is... course there's always the "any given (Saturday)" X factor...
Have some faith, this is not the same Broncos team everyone writes off every year. We have depth, talent, and we're playing smart football... I kind of feel bad for the team coming to our house next week, regardless of who they are.
The big question is can we finish the deal away from home... Will take some major work, but we have the team to do it.

Those two playoff games mean absolutely nothing of the fortunes for todays teams. That's like saying, "My coins landed on tails twice, so it seems likely that if I flip it again, it is more likely to land on tails."
This isn't the case with coin flips and it isn't the case with our team in the playoffs. Of course, there is a chance that the coin will land on tails, but no bigger a chance than if the coin had landed on heads before.
As for the Patriots, I don't fear them. Of course, the Broncos could be beat by any team in the playoffs, but I can't say that the Patriots are the biggest threat to them. Their passing defense is still pathetic and the Broncos should be able to run on them and minimize their passing game with one of the league's best defenses.
As for the matchup earlier this year, we allowed them to come back to a good degree, because the defense was playing soft. They were allowing the underneath stuff repeatedly so as not to give up the big play, and this conservative play let them come back to a degree. As I see it, this was a mistake, but our defense is still quite capable of shutting the team down decently. The biggest factor for the Broncos (No matter who they play) will be how well they can rush the passer with their front four.

Those are two entirely different situations. In '84 John was a second year qb so I think that had something to do with it.
In '96 we went into playoffs cold having lost our final game of the year and not having had a meaningful game in a month.
This year we're going into the playoffs on a four game winning streak. Now that doesn't make it an automatic win for us but I think this team is just getting warmed up.

We are entering new ground. What do the records say about Jake Plummer going into the playoffs at 13-3......
(hears crickets)

Hey our unlucky record was 5-1 and 5-2. Most other seasons we tanked it, but this season we blew through it.

There is nothing unlucky about being 13-3.

And there is nothing lucky about it either is there Eman? ;) Its just a number.

Agreed. A number of teams have gone 13-3 on their way to Super Bowl wins, most recently the Rams.

I've stated no trend just an observation from listening to the radio. You're the brainless one for overreacting along with your sidekicks. I stated the analysts made this statement and give the Broncos no chance because they basically have the Pats penciled in. I also was making a statement for, slow learners, that I hope the Broncos don't take for granted they are at home and take the Pats for granted, but whose to say they play us. So before insulting me read the post, brainiac.
You all are right new year new team. 1984 and 1996 teams were new teams and new years with the same quarterback and they lost twice. And Jake hasn't shown us anything in the playoffs either [hears crickets] :goofy:

I re-read your post and you seemed to put some stock into the idea, but I suppose that I must have misinterpretted. It is good that you realize that the history that a couple of analysists brought up is completely meaningless.

Omens, numerology? Sheesh, lets just hope there isn't an eclipse or a full moon the night of the game.
Good lord man it's 2006, teams win and lose based on talent and performance. All that other crap means nothing. Not to maligne you (looks like you're just reporting what you saw, not saying what you believe), just the pundits that come up with that kind of crap. What happened when we were 13-3 22 years ago has absolutely nothing to do with next week. The Broncs need to show up and play, whether or not we win next week depends on how we play next week and nothing else.
