Admittedly, at the start of the year I was not a big Chris Simms fan, he had always seemed to shrink in the biggest moments in college, even when he was winning most.

But, whether the Bucs win today or not, Simms has shown a ton of poise and certainly has stepped up in my mind as a QB of the future in the league.

Simms has a strong arm and great size, but he is showing that he's got the necessary poise and leadership to step up for his team, drop back in the pocket and make all the necessary throws at necessary times against a good defense and considerable pressure.

He has proven me wrong, and I wish him luck towards continued improvement and a great career. I've always been a fan of his dads, and I hoped Simms would do well, but I didn't think he would. Keep it up Chris Simms, today you're becoming an unquestioned leader as an NFL QB by your performance when your team needs YOU the most.

Well, I was rooting for the Bucs but apparently Simms didn't want the Bucs to win. The guy needs to get the ball UP. How many times does he have to have the ball tipped to learn this?

Well, you might want to talk to the Bucs running game about doing something so that the d-line can't tee off on the pass rush up the field.

Or, you might want to have a nice conversation with the o-line about doing a little better job against penetration.

Or, in other parts of the game the receivers may want to do more with yards after the catch.

All three of those things contributed to the loss more than Simms did.

The defense for the Bucs was their greatest asset today, but Simms was their next best hope with the improvements and leadership he showed because the rest of that team didn't do all that much to help him.

His stats weren't great, but he wasn't given much to work with, especially because of the pocket penetration and pressure he faced consistently. Beyond stats, I was impressed by what Simms gave the Bucs today, tipped balls or not.

Dude, you suck. You couldn't win the big game in college, and it appears you can't win the big game in the pros, either. Bucs stood a better chance of winning w/Griese on crutches.

I mean opposing team only manages 122 total yards of offense yet wins the game. Why? Turnovers.

Actually... it was only 120 yards, at least get the facts straight...

If only that reciever kept the ball in posession
17-17 wonder what would've happened

You realize the difference between 120 yards and 122 is negligible, right? I think it's safe to say his point stands.

the game would go to overtime. bucs would win the toss, elect to receive. first play of overtime, simms throws, ball gets tipped at the line, washington defender intercepts it and returns ball for touchdown

What's with all the talking? Washington came to play. I didn't put the entire game on Simms for the simple fact that the receiver dropeed the ball in the end zone. Other than that, I could probably complete passes of 3 and 4 yards, and I know I suck. He's supposed to be a Pro.

You got to admit, over or around is better than through. And besides that, Simms doesn't look old enough to drive. Him and Gruden must be the main NFL baby faces.

The was one of Simm's best performances I have seen I liked when he taunted Sean Taylor

Actually, if the play you are referring to is when Simms was running and about to go out of bounds, it was Carlos Rodgers, #22, Taylor was out of the game by then.

2 yards is negligible? How about you ask the Titans if 2 yards is negligible.

Yea, depends where on the field the two yards are and when getting them or not getting them occurred.

I think it is completely unfair the way some are judging Simms so harshly. His receiver dropped the possible tying touchdown pass and his O-line was faced with defending against some very tall defenders. I know this is no excuse but he is a young and up and coming player. I think he is the Bucs future.

Don't move the goalposts, you know very well what I meant. Whether the 'Skins got 120 yards or 122 has no bearing on the correctness of Sevenis7's point.

and it was 122 yards before washington took a couple of knees to kill the clock (lost one yard each time). not that it matters.

as for simms, i thought he played pretty well. he had too many passes tipped at the line, but thats what happens against 6'7" and 6'6" tackles. he made some nice plays with his legs and made some nice throws. i wonder about the gameplanning though when all his check offs were for 1 yard passes.

thing that summed simms up for me was the great throw that was dropped in the endzone, followed up by missing an open reciever badly.
