The Steelers are acting as if they get no respect.

Take a look at the 2005 NFL PREVIEW on p. 85 in the September

5, 2005 issue of Sports Illustrated where the great Dr. Z

predicted that Pittsburgh would finish this season with an

11-5 record. The Broncos? 7-9! He also predicted Pittsburgh

as #4 and Denver as #18 in his power rankings. Who is not

getting respect?

Who cares, the Steelers arn't Tom Brady or the Broncos, begging the media for respect. The Steelers earn it on the field and that's all that matters.

In our team's defense, none of them have complained about a lack of respect. That's mostly restricted to our fans who, having been told from day one that their team wouldn't succeed, are starting to get tired of it.

Hey, if the Steelers win, hats off to Bettis. If they lose, they will have to eat those hats. I'll take my chances on Denver.

We're the Broncos, we never get respect. Pittsburg always gets it because of Cowher and what Big Ben did last year and how there defense plays. No big deal, we wont get the respect till we win the superbowl, and if thats what it takes so be it.

Yeah, and how much has happened between then and now? Dude, what they wrote four months ago is worthless now.

Uhhh....Dude....well...Pittsburgh went 11-5, just as Dr. Z predicted & Denver went 13-3 vs Dr. Z's 7-9. Dr. Z has been talking smack about the Broncos since before their first Super Bowl win. He was talking smack four months ago and likely will be talking smack four months from now when he discredits the Broncos assuming they take the Lombardi trophy. People who are like him only do homework on the teams they like. He is a hack writer. The issue is that a lot of people read his crap. The oddsmakers seem to know something the talking heads and hack writers do not. Not to take anything from Pittsburg. They are a stout team; but Denver isn't there because they snuck in.

The cumulative record of the opponents of Den & Pit were an identical .500. However, Pittsburgh played 8 teams with a winning record and won two fewer games than Denver, who played 10 teams with a winning record. Also, Steelers lost to a sub .500 team; Broncos did not.

Fact is, two good teams; two good coaches--and no matter what I or anybody else says, it will be settled on the field one way or the other. My point is that it is hilarious when I hear Big Ben crying "Nobody believed in us. Nobody believed in us." --and it's just not true. As far as playing Indy, I thought the Steelers had a good chance of winning. Boo-hoo if the Steelers and their fans are upset because the talking heads and hack sports writers have been smoking their Manning-Brady crack pipe. Denver has been hearing that kind of smack all year.

Who was the QB in that game? All that proves is that you should pray for Maddox to come in.

What were the odds of us reaching the Superbowl at the beginning of the year.

I'd wager that we were underrated by Vegas back then.

My point is that nobody can predict the NFL season before it happens with perfect accuracy. Few people would have expected the bears to have the second seed in the NFC and few people would have thought that Tampa Bay would have won the NFC South. Beyond that, who would have guessed the Washington Redskins would make the playoffs.

If I recall correctly, most Broncos fans were expecting a top ten draft pick from the Skins.

Remember when we lost to the Dolphins??

Would you have guessed them to have a winning record at the end of the year??

And before the year started, our schedule looked very difficult. Then NY(AFC), Buffalo, and Baltimore collapsed.

Don't pay too much heed into his predictions from four months ago. Everyone was wrong back then. I remember a bunch of people picking the Arizona Cardinals and some even picked the Detriot Lions to be in the playoffs.

I don't think the Steelers have anything to complain about. They've been favored by more analysts and overall fan votes even though the Broncos have the higher seed and are playing at home. Any analyst who picks Denver basically resorts to "Pittsburg is better, but it's in Denver." The Broncos team is still being overlooked and I think that'll come back to bite the Steelers fans with a double digit Denver victory.

Enough about Respect already. All four teams left in playoffs get respect. It's just a slum word for I'm the man. :duh:

i'm sorry i can't help to comment on this... yes we did lose but that's a lot of talk coming from the team that only won by two... yeah a loss is a loss but you guys didn't exactly blow that sub .500 team out of the water either... might want to find a game w/a little more footing... like i said a loss is a loss but you could've lost that game just as easliy. we took to OT and maddox made the big mistake like usual... and you see where he is now... batch will probably take that backup spot next year since he has shown to be a little better. not to mention he drove the steelers to a touchdown while playing w/a broken hand... more than maddox can say since he can't get teh TD healthy...

OK-- maybe a little off track here- but here goes.

The point is not about the quality of the teams; and although statistics were used, they were not intended to prove anything except that Denver belongs where they are. They have earned the right to be where they are just as Pittsburgh has.

The complaint about a four month old prediction is this: the attitude towards the Broncos by a lot of the media (talking head & hack writers, esp east coast). As far as Dr Z, his general attitude towards the Broncos has not changed in ten years. I wouldn't care except that a lot of people read his crap. A lot of people listen to the talking heads who sound like Z writes. Crap.

As far as who plays quarterback, Jake & Ben have to watch their backs (or legs and arms) because the Steelers took out Palmer while the Broncos took out Brees.

I just don't feel like the Steelers are being disrespected. If they are, it's not any more than they should be as a sixth seed who is not "sexy" like the Colts or Patriots. Yeah, I said it! Sexy! ----but I had borrow that language from talking heads who still can't put down the Manning-Brady crack pipe. Apparently neither the Broncos or Steelers are "sexy" enough for the talking heads, but Denver has heard that crap all season. Steelers are just now hearing it.
