This isn't a thread where I'm gonna say don't support or team or that we're gonna lose, but I see a lot of threads that already have us penciled in the Super Bowl. I think it needs to cut down a bit. I know that it's good to have confidence, but overconfidence is not good. The Steelers are a very good football team. I do think that we'll win, but maybe we shouldn't be so arrogant about it. Some people are starting to sound like the Pats fans that were here last week! Here's to a great game, and hopefully a trip to Super Bowl XL

It's not like we play the game. The outcome doesn't depend in the least on what we expect the Broncos to do.

Also, I was actually more confident last week. New England had some clear weaknesses on their team. Pittsburgh, like us, is an all-around good team.

I am nervous about this game. I'm nervous for every game the Broncos play. I also feel that if I want to be over-confident about winning, I can do that.

While I purchase Broncos merchandise and yell at my TV screen 4 states away, my views in no way reflect what the Broncos organization is feeling.

I feel we have a great shot of winning this game.

GO BRONCOS!!

I'm glad some of you guys acknowledge this. Denver on paper does seem to have a clear advantage, but I'm convinced some people on here are just so unconfident that they over compensate on here. We have the same kind of people on our boards.

Great post !!

I think that somme people on the board forgot how bad the patsies fan looked last week being overconfident and arrogant.

As you stated PIT is a very good football team. Let's not forget that they beat Cindy and Indy at home. That is very difficult to do.

I believe that it is already an accomplishment, and I would not be too confident with Denver going that path. After what they have accomplished, they can't be taken too lightly.

But denver have been battle tested all season long. I strongly believe, they will come out victorious again this weekend after a though fight.

Go broncos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it an over used term but "Any Given Sunday"

I am nervous about this game as well. I'm REALLY looking forward to it, but still have my concerns.

It's going to be a great game!

Do you go into battle nervous or with confidence??

SHanaham must prepare the team. THe team leaders must learn their role and assignments and then execute them on the field. They know they go into battle. It was interesting to hear SHanaham told his players not to consider this a home game for the preparations.

My confidence stems from watching and tracking this team all year.

I can always be nervous for other things in life. I'm not nervous for this 3 hour game coming up, though.

I was eatting at Fizzollies today and saw a guy wearing a Steeler shirt. I see that alot, living in Dayton Ohio. Anyway, I looked over at him and wished him good luck this weekend, but not too much. Talking trash is a good time and all, but the fact remains that both teams are very, very good. Either one of them is capable of winning this weekend. So to all those towel waving Steeler faithful: Good luck this weekend, but not to much. Here is too a good, injury free game.

the odds definately are stacked against us but they have been for the last 2 weeks... it is going to be a great game and yes overconfidence is bad karma... ask the colts... i think this is going to be very close and i am just as nervous this week as i was last week... and yes we have the cocky steeler bastards on our site also... it's all out of fun though but some can take it too far... heres to an injury free and hard hitting, clean game...

I try to be humble about these games,I always feel like when I brag I am messing with our chances to win but I do love the team and get excited and all so sometimes I have to talk the talk...We all have different ways we express ourselves and I think we are all free to do what makes us happy...I do get what your saying though! :D

I don't know about anybody else, but before the Indianapolis game I was visibly shaking :D

I can't believe how these guys can play so calmly if I'm only watching the game and am that nervous

That the best team will win. I won't make excuses. Whomever wins is the better team period. No refs blew it or if we only this or that. Now i happen to think the Steelers are the best team, but if they don't win than obviously they weren't.

The Broncos have good reason to be confident as do the Steelers. I think the Broncs have a good shot at winning it, but I can also imagine a scenario in which the Steelers could take it, one of the 2 playoff games I've attended in my life was the '84 AFC Divisional against the Steelers.

The Broncs went 13-3 that season and were psyched up for the playoffs. PIT came and and rained on our parade and I was crushed. Then again, I watched part of the '97 AFC Championship last night, what a great game that was. I'm real excited for this game, two great AFC teams battling for the SB birth. Two great organizations with great fans, illustrious histories, and great coaches. Let's hope it's another classic!

Don't forget that, although the Vegas odds say Denver, the media and most nuetral fans are already penciling the Steelers in.

ESPN and SI are both so obviously very pro-Steeler. In most interviews with Steelers players I've heard 95% of the questions are about the Indy game and the Super Bowl and only about 5% are about the upcoming AFC Championship.

I only hope, based off that, that they're looking too far ahead and/or "blew their load" in the Indy game (which no doubt was exhausting physically and mentally).

It seems most people are saying the Steelers are the team of destiny....after the debacles in knocking off the #1 seed and the fact that in probably what will be Bettis' last year the Super Bowl is in his home town.

It should be a great game -- too hard to call.

On paper their numbers are so close its ridiculous. I'll say that our pass defense is probably a little better than advertised considering when they say we're ranked "29th" thats in total yards...not comp % allowed, yards/receptions, TDs, INTs, etc.

I think Pitt has more momentum but I think the homefield advantage will cancel it out. Matter of fact, taking into consideration the history of 6th seeds making the Super Bowl, our 9-0 home record, the wear-and-tear of 3 straight weeks of travel (and 5 of the last 6), and the high-altitude air I think we have a slight advatage on the momentum vs HFA scale.

I suspect for the players it's like any other performer. You have some butterflies in your stomach before you start, but as soon as the whistle blows and the first hits come you settle down and concentrate on those things you know. You no longer have time to be nervous or to think about woulda-coulda-shoulda. Just play the game.

I don't think they're pro-steeler unless you're watching a show with Merril Hoge.. and Mark Schlereth cancels out his bias

ESPN keeps talking about last week's game because of the blown call.. it's easily criticized and that's what people want to see. It's all about what makes news and what keeps interest, and calling out/blasting refs will definitely keep interest.

In fact, it's interesting that both the NFL network and ESPN both have analysts from Denver/Pittsburgh

Terrell Davis vs Rod Woodson
Mark Schlereth vs Merril Hoge

of course Tom Jackson tips it the Broncos' way but he seems to not be biased at all.. that's why he's awesome
