Wasn't sure where to list this as it isnt a NFL team but Kansas City as some of you may of heard obtained the team from New Orleans. It was the NO Voodoo now it will be known as the Kansas City Brigade.
I have only watched a couple of these games but I am kind of excited that we have this.KC is building a new arena which I believe will be complete in a year or more. For right now the games will be held at Kemper Arena.
Neil Smith is one of the owners. Have any of you watched this type of football and if so what do you think? I believe the season will start the end of Jan. or the first part of Feb.
edit: Mods, sorry if this is the wrong place for this football topic...

It's not too bad to watch, pretty fast paced, but it's just not NFL! Still, they wear tight pants too, so the GPA will be okay!
Cool that the Voodoo have moved to KC, I hope you get to a couple of games and have some fun!

And I never know where ? to post these threads  either BTW. :D

The AFL helped keep me sane during the offseason...
It'll be really neat for Denver to be champions of both leagues at the same time though

I am starting to like it. We have a very good team here in Denver ( defending champs ) in the Crush, and John Elway owns it so it must not be all that bad.
We have a terrific WR #1 Harrell or something like that. I wonder why some of these skilled players arent in the NFL.

AFL ain't worth watching IMHO..................
The tackling and contact is not nearly the same as in the NFL.

A lot of them are a bit small for NFL, or not fast enough for the bigger field.

Sorry Mods, I posted a new thread in Anything But Football. Didn't think to look here. :ugh:
I have followed the Arena league for years. And when Las Vegas got the Gladiators, I was at opening night and attending many games there. I enjoy the game. Especially live. It was very fast paced and exciting.
I had no idea the Voodoo went to Kansas City. But when they were flashing scores today, I noticed they showed KC on the scoreboard and i was

alright, so the AFL season 20 started this weekend. i for one am a diehard crush fan ( was at the American Conference championship, when floyd came runnign off the bench to the stands, he pretty much went right to me, touched his helmet and everything). so, anyone care to talk about the weekends action? i know the crush pulled off a close one vs. chicago. man that one kept me goin right to the end. we ended up winning it 65-56 off of a beautiful touchdown grab by Harrell.
p.s. mods, if we get some interest here, could we possible sticky this?

I saw tonight on overtime an interview with John Elway after the game today. Talking about #1 Harrell, and he said this guy has the best hand he has ever seen.
Memo to Shanahan: how about getting this guy in camp this year. I would think Elway would know what he is talking about when it comes to the WR position and hands.

watchthemiddle, im not so sure how harrell would do on an outdoor field. if you watch the games closely, youll see that harell gets a lot of his grabs off of the go routes where the reciever gets a running start. he also uses the boards well. i would personally like to get dustin barno into the NFL. the guy can get great penetration on both sides of the ball. keep postin guys!!!

I think I had read a post after the AFL season ended last year saying the same thing. However, someone replied that Harrell is not that young and that he had previously tried out for several NFL teams but had been cut.
Go Crush!

I think Kay Barnes is an idiot, we don't need a new arena. :goofy:Why would you think that? I think it's a great move by Barnes. The The Sprint Center is going to make a great addition to the downtown area and the city.
Besides Kemper Arena's way to old and are below standards in my opinion for today's arena's. We needed it.

As much as I hate to root against Elway, I'm a Chicago Rush fan. Have been watching the afl for the past 3 years and finally got around to going to a game last season. The games are fun to be at. The arena was enthustiastic and more importantly fairly fan friendly. The AFL bends-over-backwards for their fans, which is kinda nice. Even better, it is relatively cheap to go to. Sunday's game was a good one and can't wait for the crush to come to chicago. Harrell seems like a class act giving touchdown balls to children in the stands.
GO RUSH!!!

Another brutal offseason until August rolls around and preseason NFL is back...
How many of you guys like Arena Football? How is it regarded not just by everyone here, but in Colorado itself? Is the Crush well received there? With John Elway and Pat Bowlen involved, I'd think so but I don't know. Here it's not a big deal. I saw several Games of the now defunct NY Cityhawks when the AFL was first introduced here. Now they have the NY/NJ Dragons, what a cheesy name...
I like it, the action is good and the game is fast. It's a good spectator sport, and the tix here are like dirt cheap. So it's something to watch and do on an otherwise Football free weekend. It's better than the HORRIBLE XFL was, but that's another story entirely. I bought Season Tix to that garbage, saw it as something to do. Then I couldn't give the Tix away.
What do you guys think??

I was there! It was a BLAST! Living in Vegas at the time, we became Gladiator fans from the start. But knowing Denver got a team too, the Crush are my second fav.
The Arena Bowl was so much fun and the Colorado fans dominated the crowd. I sat 6 rows in front of Elway's suite. Pat Bowlen was there. His kids were there. He obviously had a good time that day! And so did we.

I watch every weekend. Now that they are starting to run regional coverage on NBC I shouldnt miss many Crush games.
It's a very easy game to watch. The action is non-stop and the scoring comes from everywhere.
I could see myself being a season ticket holder if I were back in Denver.
