I voted Ronaldhino, partly because he was a star in the 2002 world cup, and I haven't really heard of these other guys.
I am so excited for this cup! I am not even a "football" fan (in respect to the eastern hemisphere and South America), but the competition in the world cup is unrivalled in the sports world. I think the Superbowl doesn't even compare.

Zidane... I don't know, could be his last year as the "king" (the heir, without a doubt is Ronaldinho). I give the edge to Zidane because Zidane can make his whole team a little bit better when he's playing, while Ronaldinho is more a "one man show".

What country does he play for? I'll make sure to keep an eye out for him.

He's French, he plays for Real Madrid. Sadly he has just one or two more years in his career, and I'm not sure, but I think that he isn't called to the French National team anymore (by his request).

Are you insinuating he is not playing in the world cup? That'd be a shame.
When do the games start?

I'm happy to say Zinedine Zidane will be playing at the World Cup. He's decided to come out of retirement.

Ronaldinho has had an excellent season. He was voted world player of the year 2005. Watch out for Frank Lampard on the England team too. He finished second to Ronaldinho.
I couldn't resist being biased in this one as you had Liverpool midfielder Stevie G in your poll! :D Well he did lead his team to win the Champions league last year so he's no slouch. I'm sure Den-21 will commend me on my choice. ;)
Were he not in the list it would have been a close decision between Zidane and Ronaldinho - Zidane probably on past achievements would have edged it out for me but if you were to judge them on present form then it would have to be Ronaldinho of course.

I'll have to defer to Jaws' opinion here ;)
IMO, Stevie G is the most complete midfielder of the choices given. All are outstanding players in their own right, who can change a game with a moment of brilliance.
However, Stevie can do it all. Most of the players listed are either attacking midfielders, who obviously are the ones that catch the eye, or defensive. Gerrard's carried Liverpool for two of the last three seasons, and is equally devasting whether he's sniffing around the opposition's penalty area, disrupting the opposition outside his own penalty area or pinging pin-point 60 yard diagonals. In addition to that, he can play anywhere on the pitch. Predominatnly a central midfielder, he's played in the hole behind the striker, centre mid, right wing......he even finished the CL final at right back.......and looks World Class at any of them.
That being said, I love to watch Zidane and Ronaldinho play, pure magic.

Though he's getting older, ZZ is still the best. The way he controls the tempo of a game and distributes the ball .... excellent player. The others have flashes of excellence. ZZ is consistently excellent.

I do agree that ZZ is still a great player despite he's age but he just not have a enough stamina to last a full game he only play's 30mins or so a game now.
