Just picked up The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the PC, and man, is this game detailed. It took me awhile to make my character because it had so many options. Even leveling up you character in this game takes steps. Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has played this game. Its pretty awsome and I have a feeling its going to give me hours and hours of play time.

Yeah i bought it last week for the 360, its fantastic, but very overwhelming! Probably going to be the best rpg out there for a long time, only problem i have with it is it feels like ghost town, because its so huge. One thing i will say though is never turn the difficulty down, i did that to get though a place, spoiled it for me :ugh:. Oh well great game cheers !

I got it the day it released, and the game is fantastic. The graphics are amazing, and the character customization is unbelievable, you can change EVERYTHING. I'm done with the dark brotherhood quest line(or so it seems), and now i'm doing the thieve's guild quests.

PC. I won't be getting the 360, but waiting for the PS3 instead.

Yeah, Oblivion is fun...
Honestly though, coming off of Morrowind it is a massive letdown...
-Fewer factions/guilds (by about 6 or 7) and that many fewer faction questlines.
-The most retarded level/loot system of recent memory, while this can be fixed by mods on the PC - 360 users are SoL unless Beth issues a fix over XBL (not likely)
-Short & unsatisfying main storyline, same goes for the rest of the guilds (except the dark brotherhood quests)
-The overall handholding, seems too many people cried about having too much freedom in Morrowind, so Beth decided to remove penalties and hold the players hand the entire way through so they dont get lost or do anything they arent supposed to.
-Severe lack of creativity is appearant all over the game - mountain lions, bears etc instead of interesting creatures like Kagouti & Cliff Racers in MW...fewer and less variety of in-game environments.
I'm also not too happy about the horse armor plug-in situation, it seems like this could have very well been in the original release and was purposely withheld just so they could sell it for even more money...even if that where not the case, something so small should be free to your fanbase.
Anyway, I could go on and on forever but it just doesnt live up to the expectations many of the TES faithfull and myself had after Morrowind...overall it feels like Bethesda dumbed down Oblivion to appeal to a wider audience.

im addicted to Oblivion right now, mind blowingly large  i have a small intention span so its hard to really stick to one task, over stimulation im like, oh ok lets go do this.........no no no, lets go do this, so ill walk a few miles soutwest, then im like, nahhhh this quest doesnt sound too fun, then ill walk just the same amount northeast, its very time consuming

For those of you who have gotten much farther in the game than I...
Curious... after you finish the main quest, the world remains open, correct? I'd like to know before I get around to going to far in the main quest.

The lvl system seems the same to me...the combat is fun and casting spells is fun......I could care less about the house factions..the loot system was worst in morrowind....everytime you looted a herb it opened a window and then you have to push other button to loot the herb that was annoying....
the creature animations are way better the game and armor all around looks better and the voice acting is great....
you said the hold my hand feature.....lol..anyways its always nice to know where to go and what to do....then to wonder around for hours wasting time looking for the main quest line like in morrowind...and the fast travel system is great....the travel system in Morrowind was a waste and doing the main quest was like a job with all the worthless walking around...and you can't say exploring was the only way to lvl up....
Oblivion is an all around better game then Morrowind was....

Yes it does. Currently I have a Level 35 Warrior who I have beat the game with (Imperial) as well as a level 35 Necro Custom Class (though now that I have a full set of Daedra Armor I'm playing him more like a summoner rather than the pure caster I intended to have him as) and he hasn't even started the main quest.
