Who do you think the NBA wants more? A matchup of two great TEAMS or a matchup of two great players on opposite teams.
Some examples:
Team: Pistons Vs. Spurs
Players: Kobe Vs. LeBron
Of course the NBA would like Kobe vs Lebron in the Final, that kind of matchup would make the NBA ownership drool, but it's more likely that the spurs and pistons will line up for sure, maybe not the spurs but the pistons are a lock... :coffee:

I would rather have two great teams.
I like the series that goes all the way to game 7 with two great teams fighting for the trophy. :D

Detroit - San Antonio....
A hard fought defensive type game.

Blah maybe Detroit but not the Spurs.
They seem flat this year with Timmy slightly injured all season, I also don't see the passion from Ginobli like last year in the playoffs.
I would want to see the Pacers and Mavericks.

I just want to see the Mavericks, the world needs to see what a great player Dirk Nowitzki is!!!

I was talking about last year, but yea I agree with your insight....
It's tough for them with injured players.... but they did win 60+ games. They must have done something right! :salute:

The NBA markets players, so my guess woul dbe players.
I don't root for players though, just teams.

I think the two are related though. The NBA realizes that more people will tune in to see LeBron or Kobe with the hopes of seeing a pantheon level performance. Just look at the last two finals. Last year (Pistons-Spurs) the ratings were down, while the year before (Pistons-Shaq/Kobe) I believe they did pretty well.

With my Pistons playing the way they are, doesn't look like it will be the LeBron show...;)

With the NBA, it's all about marketing, and what they're marketing is not the game but the personalities. I think the NBA would be disappointed if the Finals were a rematch of the Pistons and Spurs. Their dream series would have been Lakers v. Heat. Kobe, Phil Jackson, Lamar Odom (ex-Heat), all the Hollywood stars sitting at Staples v. Shaq, Pat Riley, Gary Payton (all ex-Lakers), D-Wade, all the South Beach hotties. If I'm not mistaken, when these two teams played each other during the regular season, they got the highest ratings of any regular season game.
