Is Joe Torre a great Manager or did he benifit from being on a team Surrounded by future HOF and all stars?

He's a great manager because Bobby Cox had a better collection of talent and won only 1 World Series. Same for Tony Larussa in Oakland back in the late 80s. Despite the roster, Torre's teams won. His decision making and leadership was a great part of that.

The teams he won world series with didn't have the raw talent that today's team has...he's clearly a great manager.
This really is just a ridiculous question.
EVERY team that wins has great players.

Great manager as he has put up with old Georgie for over 10 years now and lived to tell about it. :laugh:

I do want to state that I did not start this tread as an antiYankee or and AntiTorre tread. I heard the quetion on ESPN radio the other day, an figured I would bring it to the boards to get all of our opinions. Maybe I should have put more options in the poll. I will redo it
